The Beggar’s Opera
Firstly, “The Beggar’s Opera” is not opera! It is an
enjoyable romp through 18th century London, telling
the story of a notorious woman loving highwayman
(Captain McHeath) and his two main love interests (Polly
Peachum and Lucy Lockett). Many beautiful songs are
interspersed within a funny and clever script. It
promises to be a spectacular, colourful and fun-filled
show directed by Maxine Burrows with Richard Baulch
as Musical Director. The show will be performed from
8th to 13th July 2013.

Calendar Girls
FHODS recent production of Calendar Girls proved to be a
most popular choice by smashing all box office records for a
play at the Tower Theatre. This beloved story of the Knapely
WI raising funds following the tragic loss of Annie's husband
John was found to be both funny and moving. Those lucky
enough to have seen the show will recognise the above
scene as the moment when Chris is trying to convince the
others about appearing in the calendar, nude. Not only was
the show a terrific success for FHODS but the Leukaemia
charity raised over a £1,000 from its table sales and retiring
collection. A big round of applause goes to all involved.
