STINGER SEASON
All Queensland beaches north of Gladstone can
attract marine stingers and box jellyfish during the
period October to June each year. Some beaches
have stinger-resistant enclosures so visitors can
enjoy swimming throughout the year. Stinger nets
are located at sections of the following beaches:
Port Douglas: Four Mile Beach (net removed in
rough weather), Cairns Beaches: Yorkeys Knob,
Trinity Beach, Ellis Beach, Palm Cove, Townsville:
Rowes Bay, The Strand. Check with local authorities
for further information.

The Tropical North offers a variety of shopping
experiences from The Pier Market Place and larger
shopping centres of Cairns, to the local handmade
crafts of the Kuranda markets and designer labels

time is 2.00pm and check-out time is 10.00am.
ROOM TYPES: A standard one or two person hotel
room comprises one queen bed or two single beds.
For triple share you will usually receive one of the
following configurations: one queen bed with single
bed; or one queen bed plus divan or rollaway.

category. Room features may differ for other room

the rainforest. Driving down the Kuranda Range to
the Caravonica Lakes, you will join Skyrail, the

Scenic Rail for the breathtaking journey to Freshwater
Station with your return transfer awaiting.
Palm Cove
Your tour begins with a luxury coach transfer from

historical rail journey to Kuranda. Explore Kuranda
Village before boarding the Skyrail to Caravonica
Lakes. You will then be collected in a 4WD vehicle
for a look at the ancient rainforest. Continue on to

Day 1: Cairns - Cruising
Depart Cairns and sail through the night towards
Lizard Island.
Day 2: Lizard Island
Drop anchor in Watson’s Bay on Lizard Island, the
most northerly resort island on the Great Barrier
Reef. Snorkel, swim, fish or dive the choice is yours.
Day 3: Morris Island
Spend a few hours on Morris Island before heading
north past Cape Sidmouth, Lloyd Bay, Lockhart
River, Portland Roads, Temple Bay and round Cape
Grenville to the Home Islands.
Day 4: Cape York/Thursday Island
At sunrise, you will be ferried across to a small cove
at the base of Cape York. It is then a solid walk up
to the tip where you will be standing at the top of
Australia! Return for breakfast and champagne as
we sail towards Thursday Island. There is probably
no other place in Australia with a history longer
and more colourful than that of Torres Strait.
Day 5: Farmer Island
Part of the Piper Group of islands. Abundant bird
life and crystal clear waters provide a quality
experience of the Great Barrier Reef. Walk the
island below the high water mark. In the afternoon
cruise past Restoration Island, the first landfall
made by Captain Bligh and his men after their
hazardous voyage in an open boat from Tofoa, 600
kilometres away.
Day 6: Stanley Island/Davie Reef
Anchor in the shelter of picturesque Stanley Island part of the Flinders Group of islands. The local
Aborigines administer the islands in conjunction
with Queensland Parks and Wildlife. In the
afternoon, swim or snorkel the clear waters of
Davie Reef or join the Marine Naturalist on the
glass-bottom boat for armchair coral viewing.
Day 7: Cooktown/No. 5 Ribbon Reef
Spend the morning in Cooktown. After lunch the
final destination is No. 5 Ribbon Reef. Snorkel,
dive, join the glass-bottom boat tour or just watch
the breakers from the Coral Sea crash over the
outer edge of the reef. The Captain’s Dinner offers
a dining and entertainment experience to remember.

Day 1: Brisbane - North Queensland Coast
Check in at Brisbane’s Roma Street Station for your
journey. Once settled, make your way down to the
restaurant car to meet your fellow passengers.
With a cup of tea and freshly baked scones, sit
back and watch the passing scenery. During the
evening the train travels through coastal towns
such as Bowen and Proserpine.
Day 2: Townsville - Cairns
Next morning, pass through walls of sugar cane on
either side. Upon arrival in Townsville, there is time
to stretch the legs before heading further north
into the lush tropics of Cairns. Meanwhile, there’s
plenty of time to relax and take in the scenery from
the lounge cars, crossing many creek beds and
possibly even spot a lurking crocodile, before
arriving in Cairns.

The revitalised Townsville inner-city is divided

BOOKING CONDITIONS
Cancellations: If you cancel or
terminate your holiday there will be
no refund of your deposit, and
• Prior to final payment: There will
be no refund of any additional
supplier deposit paid.
• After final payment: There may
be cancellation fees charged by
airlines, hotels and ground/cruise
operators amounting to all or part
of the cost paid.
Alterations: Alterations to your
package which require reissue of
documents - a fee of $27 per booking
will be charged by Qantas Holidays in
addition to any charges levied by
hotels, ground/cruise operators or
airlines. A document reissue means an
alteration to an existing booking and
not a transfer to another package,
when cancellation fees may apply.
Refunds: To the extent permitted by
law, no refund is available for
cancellations after holiday package
has commenced or in respect of any
tours, accommodation, meals or any
other services not utilised.
Product descriptions: Descriptions
featured are based on current
international hotel guides and
information provided by hotels
and suppliers. Any facilities shown
as included may change at any time.
Qantas Holidays makes no specific
representation as to the standard,
class or description of accommodation
or services provided by third parties.
Maps and photographs: Maps are
shown for general information and
may not necessarily reflect actual
routings, locations or services
provided. Photographs show places in
the geographic areas, but may not be
included in the holiday. Hotel room
photographs/descriptions are
representative only, actual rooms
occupied may vary in decor and
inclusions from those shown. Many
images are supplied courtesy of tourist
bureaus, hotels and tour operators.
Health and immigration: You are
responsible for all visa, passport,
immigration, quarantine, customs,
health and other requirements of
the countries visited or transited.
A valid passport (with at least six
months validity) must be carried
by each person. Qantas Holidays is
not responsible for your failure to
ensure that you comply with
these requirements.
Baggage: Please check your travel
documents for applicable baggage
allowances.
Pre-departure contact: You must
provide a telephone number or
address where you can be reached,
if necessary, within 24 hours prior to
your departure from Australia.
Not included in price of holiday:
Anything not specifically included in
the holiday package is at your
expense.
Air travel: Air travel is subject to
the conditions and limitations of
liability set out in the airline’s
conditions of carriage.
Booking arrangements: The person
making a booking will be deemed
to have accepted these Booking
Conditions on behalf of everyone
named in the booking. All
communications from us will usually
be sent to your travel consultant.
Your travel consultant is responsible
for forwarding payments made by
you to us.
Limit of liability: To the extent
permitted by law, Qantas Holidays
excludes all liability for any loss or
damage whatsoever (including but
not limited to physical and
psychological injury, and loss or
damage to property of whatever
nature) that may arise in any way in
connection with the offer or supply
of goods or services through Qantas
Holidays or any third parties, or in
connection with the supply of such
goods or services. If the law implies a
condition or warranty that cannot be
excluded, Qantas Holidays’ liability for
a breach of the condition or warranty
will be limited as determined by
Qantas Holidays to the re-supply or
payment of the cost of re-supplying
the relevant goods or services.
Events beyond our control: Qantas
Holidays does not accept liability
whatsoever for injury, damage, loss,
delay, additional expenses or
inconvenience caused directly or
indirectly by any events which are
beyond its control including, but
not limited to, war, civil disturbance,
fire, floods, acts of God, acts of
Government or of any other
authorities, accident to or failure
of machinery or equipment or
industrial action.
Destination passenger enquiries:
Qantas Holidays makes no
representations as to the safety,
conditions or other issues that may
exist at any destination. You should
obtain travel advice, including from
the Australian Department of Foreign
Affairs and Trade
(www.smartraveller.gov.au).
Law of contract: These Booking
Conditions are governed by the laws
of Australia and any action arising
under them or in any way connected
with the holiday may be brought only
in a court in Australia, subject to any
law which is expressly inconsistent
with this.

Please read these Booking Conditions
carefully as they apply to all bookings
accepted by Qantas Holidays. Qantas
Holidays is not itself a transport, tour,
event or accommodation provider. It
acts only as an agent for those service
providers. You should obtain and read
the applicable service provider’s terms
and conditions as they may limit or
exclude liability in respect of death,
personal injury, delay and loss or
damage to baggage.
Brochure: This brochure should be
used as a guide only. Please refer to
your travel consultant for full details
including updated pricing.
How to book: Contact your licensed
or AFTA travel consultant who will
request a reservation for you. Please
note that all requests for reservations
are subject to availability. Any quote
given is an estimate only of the price.
Changes in prices and itineraries:
Prices are provided as a guide only
and may vary due to peak demand
periods, changes in surcharges, fees
or taxes or currency fluctuations.
Please check all prices and information
with your travel consultant before
booking. The price of your holiday
may change at any time up to 30 days
before your departure if any new
surcharges, fees or taxes are
introduced or if any existing
surcharges, fees or taxes are varied,
even after you have paid all or part
of the quoted price of your holiday. If
we have to change any part of your
booking for reasons beyond our
control, for example, if an airline
changes its schedules, if a hotelier
overbooks, or if there are any changes
in applicable surcharges, fees or taxes,
we will notify you. If any such
changes result in your holiday costing
more or otherwise being materially
different, then you may cancel the
holiday and we will refund any
monies already paid less any charges
imposed by suppliers.
Deposits and final payments:
Domestic bookings (for travel within
Australia). A deposit of $55 per
person is payable within 7 days of
confirmation of your reservation. You
will be notified at the time of your
reservation if any additional deposit
requirements apply. Full payment for
your holiday package is required at
least 30 days prior to departure, or by
sale end date or payment deadline
specified in individual package
conditions, whichever is the earliest.
If for any reason your balance is not
received by us by the due date, we
reserve the right to treat your booking
as cancelled and to apply the
appropriate cancellation charges.
A deposit holds services requested
but does not guarantee prices.
