Introduction 2 Registration 3 Enrollment 4 Roster 5 Class Descriptions 6-11 Columbia Basin Basketry Guild’s 2016 Fall Retreat September 14-18, 2016 Camp Magruder, Rockaway Beach, Oregon Come and join us for five days of weaving classes, activities and good conversation at Camp Magruder, located off Hwy 101 in Rockaway Beach, a beautiful spot on the Pacific Ocean. Featured Teacher. The wonderful basket-maker Dawn Walden is our Featured Teacher this year, coming to us from Michigan. There was such a demand for her classes in 2013 that we’re very excited to have her back. Dawn will give a presentation on Friday evening, and will teach classes each day. Dawn writes: “I am a contemporary fiber artist and instructor for 40 years with my focus from the Great Lakes Anishinaube culture, ethnobotany, and the preservation of ancient technology.” To get a view of her work, see her artist’s page online at http://jsauergallery.com/sagemoon/artistPages/DWalden.html. Gallery Exhibit. This year’s theme is We love the opportunity to see and talk about both masters’ and new basket weavers’ products. Class baskets are welcome. We want to see your baskets; up to three entries allowed. Interpretation of the theme is up to you. Activities. The Thursday bag raffle offers the opportunity to get weaving materials, books, unfinished baskets, and other generally neat stuff. Raffle tickets are sold at the retreat. Silent and oral auctions are Saturday evening: consider donating one of your baskets (we’ll place it for you in either the basket raffle or auction). Bring donations for the bag raffle and auctions. Sponsors also donate items, so there will be plenty of things you will want to take home with you. Marketplace. Attendees who wish to sell items during the retreat may want to bring their own display table.
