Monster Mashup • Ernie Harker Foxilla Block out plenty of time to draw Foxilla! He’s a complicated fella with the body of a gorilla, the horns and feet of an ox and the tail of a fox. It looks like he’s happy to be made up of all those different parts. 5 1 Start the Body, Head and Legs Lightly draw a large oval leaning to the right for a body with a circle overlapping the top for a head. Then add two fat ovals overlapping the bottom for legs. 2 3 4 Draw a Center and Feet Guidelines Lightly sketch a center line between the eye bumps and the top and down through the center, bulging at the belly. Then, lightly draw two L-shapes to guide you with the feet. 2 From Monster Factory Copyright 2015 by Ernie Harker Develop the Arms and Hand Add a horizontal arc to block in the lower right arm and a triangular shape to block in the left hand. 6 7 8 Clean Up Erase the overlapping lines inside the body, but leave the center guide. Start the Eyebrows and Tail Add two bumps for eyebrows on the top of the large leaning oval and a crescent shape for a tail. Start the Arms Lightly draw two large curves that begin at the top of the body for the arms. The arm on the left overlaps the arm on the right directly over the center of the belly. Draw the Heels Draw dark lines for the heels of the hoofs. Finish the Hooves Finish the hooves as slightly bulging triangles that are flat on the bottom and angled more steeply on the toe side. Then darken the protruding part of the horns. 10 Start the Eyes and Ears Draw the eyes and ear shapes. 13 Add the Nose, Lips, Fingernails and Toes Add the nose, the bottom of the top lip, the bottom of the bottom lip, fingernails and a toe on each foot. 14 Add the Final Details Erase the center guideline and add the eyes, ears and teeth. 15 Add Color Use your favorite materials to color your monster. No wonder he looks so confident. Foxilla is clever as a fox, strong as a gorilla and stubborn as an ox. 11 Add Fingers and Fur Draw the fingers and confidently draw fur on all the lines, excluding the horns, eyes, ears, hands and feet. Note: Fur almost always hangs down from top to bottom. 4 From Monster Factory Copyright 2015 by Ernie Harker 12 Add a Smile Draw a big smile.
