UPDATES
Dear partners,
Welcome to the first issue of the VOICE in 2015. You’ll notice some changes to the VOICE in this
issue and going forward. I’d like to give you an overview of what to expect. Please remember that
the Partnership Department welcomes your feedback throughout the year. We are your front door
to and internal advocates at VISIT Milwaukee. MEG MCKENNA
Director of Development
(414) 287-4234
[email protected]
The VOICE is just one of our partner communications helping to keep you all informed about the
work of each department within VISIT Milwaukee. Here are the other ways you can connect more
frequently with us and stay looped in to business opportunities.
1. Convention Alerts and Emails. Please check to make sure all the appropriate people at your
organization are receiving our Convention Alerts, program invites, feedback solicitations and leads.
2. LinkedIn: Follow our company page and join our group. We share news and interesting
developments several times a week on LinkedIn.
3. Check for leads and bulletins in your exclusive Partner Portal on VISITMilwaukee.org. We’re
always surprised how many of our partners don’t know they have exclusive access to the Master
Convention Calendar to strategize their business opportunities with the groups VISIT Milwaukee
has firmly booked for the next three years.
4. Sign up for another one of our newsletters. VISIT Milwaukee produces a monthly newsletter for
leisure travelers, as well as quarterly industry newsletters for meeting planners, group tour operators
and travel writers.
5. Connect and follow our many social media channels. VISIT Milwaukee maintains a presence on
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest for VISIT Milwaukee as well as for DearMKE.
As you’ll see in this issue, we have streamlined the information from each department. While we will
continue to write narrative department columns when it’s warranted, we have changed our strategy
to get straight to the information you need to conduct your business with us. This issue particularly
is densely packed with information about each departments’ planned year ahead. We also will be
sending the VOICE to you every other month this year in order to use this communication vehicle
as effectively as possible.
Again, please contact me or the Partnership staff with any of your thoughts and feedback. Thank you, and read on!
EVENT RECAP
CORPORATE PARTNER SUMMIT
On February 3, VISIT Milwaukee hosted the first Corporate Partner Summit, in collaboration with the
Greater Milwaukee Committee and the Milwaukee 7. This event brought together our corporate partners to
collaborate, be inspired and learn new ways to pitch Milwaukee as their place of business. Attendees were
also introduced to our new digital Corporate Partner Toolkit.: http://www.visitmilwaukee.org/toolkit.
Over 100 corporate partner team members attended the event, which included three panel
presentations from local leaders., teaching attendees about how to pitch Milwaukee John Gurda led a
discussion of "Brands That Built This City," with Manpower, MillerCoors, Johnson Controls and HarleyDavidson sharing their history.
The summit also served as the launch for the Corporate Partner Toolkit. This new addition to
VISITMilwaukee.org provides everything that a business needs to promote Milwaukee, from city stats
to photos to relocation resources to help HR recruiters bring talent to our city. It’s never been easier
to show prospective employees, professional connections and other business associates what makes
Milwaukee a great place to visit, live and work.
Thanks to everyone who participated in and attended the summit!
UPCOMING EVENTS
VISIT MILWAUKEE CUSTOMER
SERVICE SEMINAR:
CREATING A CULTURE OF SERVICE
Don’t forget to sign up for this year’s customer service training!
“Culture” is the 2015 word of the year – Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Come learn about the “culture
of service” from Zappos, the company that redefined customer service. Jon Wolske, Zappos Insights
Speaker and Culture Evangelist, will share Zappos’ value system and legendary approach to customer
service and how this “culture of service” can be applied in any industry.
This program only costs $15/person, and this year all registrants will receive a FREE pass inside the
Midwest Food Service Expo happening next door inside the Wisconsin Center (a $45 value). Group
rates are available.
