Lexus' first ever luxury compact SUV-the all new Lexus NX, has been attracting the attention of fans
worldwide since its world premiere at the Beijing Auto Show early this year.
With the heightened
anticipation, the all new Lexus NX made its official debut today, thrilling countless Hong Kong
auto-enthusiasts.
Crown Motors Ltd. hosted the launch ceremony of the all new Lexus NX at Ocean
Terminal, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, with over a hundred media and guests to witness.
To help mark
this auspicious occasion, Mr. Takeaki Kato, Chief Engineer of all new Lexus NX was invited from Japan to
attend the unveiling ceremony.
Following the welcome speech by Mr. Patrick S. Lee, CEO of Inchcape
North Asia and China, the event was officially kicked off.
Mr. Kato then shared his insights on the
magnificent design of the all new NX and together they led an unveiling ceremony.
Mr. Patrick S. Lee
made a special announcement on the overwhelming success of the all new NX and invited the honorable
guests to join him in a toast to celebrate the success of the NX and wished continuous market success.
Following the grand launch, the “All New NX Debut Show” took place on 23rd and 24th August at Ocean
Terminal, Tsim Sha Tsui and with huge success of over 200 units sold as of 24th August 2014.
In the
meantime, the All New NX 300h has been type-approved by the Environmental Protection Department
and qualified as environment-friendly petrol private cars allowing owners of the All New Lexus NX to
enjoy HK$75,000 tax incentives.
The All New Lexus NX is fifth qualifying model for Lexus.
The eye-catching all new Lexus NX is Lexus’ first luxury compact SUV and offers a unique driving
experience with sharp designs both inside and out.
Based on the theme “Inner Bullet”, the
diamond-shaped body of the NX is crafted with sharp lines to create an unconventional style that is truly
unforgettable.
Together with the human-oriented interior design as well as the leading edge Lexus
Hybrid Drive System, the all new NX is a milestone for Lexus and solidifies its position at the forefront of
the luxury SUV market in Hong Kong.
Sharp exterior breaks with tradition
Breaking with tradition, the all new Lexus NX makes a striking design statement with its bold and unique
profile that truly excites the senses.
This aggressive form is embodied by the Lexus’ signature spindle
grille together with Lexus-first L-shaped Multi-LED angular headlamps and arrow-shaped daytime
running lights which incorporates 102 LEDs in total.
The LED front fog lamps integrated into the
bumper add sporty style while reducing overall power consumption.
The bold design extends from the
spindle grille and along the body to bring out the avant-garde lines on both sides.
The panel gaps have
been reduced to 3.8mm making the entire bodyline more compact and the sculpted profile evolves into
the newly-designed seamless L-shaped rear combination lamps.
The Lexus design team specially
extended the body side of the lens and wrapped it around to the back of the gap between the body and
back door to achieve the connected feeling light. Additionally, in order to create a three-dimensional
shape, the outer lens thickness has been increased from the typical 2mm to a maximum of 7mm at the
thickest points.
The LED red lenses and piano black garnish together make the distinctive rear lamps
look like a brilliant crystal. The seamless LED rear combination lamps then join the sharp surface of the
back door resulting bodywork that echoes the spindle grille design at the front. To make the all new
NX’s body lines stand out even more, the Lexus team added a newly-developed Sonic Quartz exterior
color option which Chief Engineer Mr. Kato believes that best suits the NX.
In addition to the all sharp exterior design, the NX also boasts other intelligently designed gems.
The
rear spoiler not only melds in synch with the lines of the body, but also was being tested repeatedly in
order to achieve best aero-stabilizing and a perfect balance between engineering and aesthetics.
The
newly-developed 17 or 18 inch alloy wheels were repeatedly tuned and optimized with a focus on
balancing the rigidity of an SUV and improves stability.
The door handles feature the world-first
keyhole-free design supplemented by unique lighting effects to provide beautiful illumination while adding
a futuristic impression to the all new NX.
As for body height, the roofline peak was set towards the back
to provide ample head-room for rear seat occupants and coupled with panoramic glass sun-roof which
further enhances the sense of space.
The innovation looks through to the future
All new Lexus NX’s compartment layout and design adheres to the progressive sense of the exterior and
focuses on the use of different materials to create a sharp contrast, thus resulting a stunning aesthetic
design and true luxury.
The newly-designed centre console features L-shaped lines and is wrapped with
metallic ornaments and leather to highlight the sci-fi feel of the overall outline.
All new NX’s interior
design is filled with a futuristic atmosphere, replete with equipment that is both technologically advanced
and exquisitely impressive. The Lexus Display Audio Controller allows drivers a handy control over the
multi-media system.
Working in tandem with it is a 7-inch multi-media display with the angle elaborately
adjusted to minimize change in driver’s line of sight. In addition, Bluetooth connectivity is available to
both mobile and audio adaptation giving drivers easy-to-use entertainment and communication
capabilities.
The overhead lamp above the centre console is complemented with Lexus-first touch
switches enabling intuitive operation with high level of functionality.
The ergonomically designed seats
are soft and comfortable and front seats are as well equipped with eight way power adjustments.
The
NX also possesses the lowest hip point in the segment as well as best-in-class rear legroom space.
Taking into account of everyday storage needs, the all new NX has a luggage space that is capable of
holding four standard golf bags.
A power back door with remote control on the instrument panel and
wireless key is equipped and memory function has been adopted to enhance convenience.
Comes with
a choice of 5 interiors colors and 2 choices for interior trims, the NX offers both luxurious and stylish
experience to users.
Forwardorward-looking technology leads to steering excellence
Lexus Hybrid Drive is renowned throughout in the industry.
The all new Lexus NX300h offers a
maximum hybrid system output up to 197 PS with its 2.5 liter petrol engine and electric motor.
Utilizing
advanced hybrid technology, the NX300h provides 4 driving modes - EV, ECO, Normal and Sport to
suit different driving needs. Under the EV mode, NX delivers ultimate quietness, low-fuel consumption
and emission-free driving experience to drivers.
Fuel consumption of the all new NX is of 20km/L
allowing drivers to enjoy a fuel cost low as HK$0.9* per km.
To enhance the driving pleasure, the NX is
uniquely equipped with LED front fog lamps and cornering lamps which turn on automatically when the
car makes a turn, providing better on-road illumination.
Laser Screw Welding and additional spot welds
have been adopted to increase the rigidity thus ensuring good handling stability.
The tuning of NX300h
offers distinguished acceleration reaction and the Lexus-first pre-loaded differential provides differential
limiting torque thus improves over handling.
The all new Lexus NX’s suspension system as well features
a MacPherson strut type array with coil springs and double wishbone design.

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) rolled out the new qualifying standards for
environmental-friendly vehicles with more stringent fuel efficiency requirement since 1st April 2014.
Powered by the Lexus hybrid drive system, the All New NX300h met the qualifying standards and is
eligible for HK$75,000 tax incentives.
