Variety and Creativity
There are practically no limits to
the application possibilities for gas
cylinders combined with your
creative ideas. Perhaps you are just
now wondering whether a gas
cylinder might be the better solution for a particular function.
Automobile manufacturers use gas
cylinders for tailgates and engine
hoods. Similar applications can be
found in the luggage doors of
coach busses and the heavy display
boards in sales vehicles in household technology, gas cylinders
provide for the easy opening of
skylights.
Kitchen furniture can be conveniently adjusted, just as well as
hospital beds, operating room
tables and sun tanning beds.
Gas cylinders have long since proven themselves in office technology. They are to be found in the
covers and service doors of copy
machines and in swivel arms for
computer terminals.
Further applications are to be
found in the area of mechanical
engineering. SUSPA gas cylinders
support the opening and closing
of safety- and noise-prevention
devices on turning and milling
machines.

Gas cylinders are hydropneumatic
adjustment elements. They consist
of a tube and a piston rod with
internal piston assembly. Fittings
on the tube and piston rod make a
connection to your application possible.
The demands for quality are increasing in the automobile industry as
in other industrial branches.
Certifications in accordance with
QS-9000 and DIN EN ISO 9001
therefore have long gone without
saying at SUSPA.
The heart of the SUSPA gas cylinder is the special sealing- and
guiding system, which ensures a
hermetic sealing of the inner
chamber with low friction, even
under extreme environmental
conditions.
An effective quality management
team from purchasing, to manufacturing, to distribution, all the way
to the final application, ensure the
worldwide good reputation and the
reliability of SUSPA gas cylinders.
The gas cylinder is filled under high
pressure with nitrogen. A filling
pressure results, which in turn acts
upon the cross-sectional area of
the piston rod. The extension force
is generated in this way. When the
extension force of the gas cylinder
is greater than the force of the
counterweight, the piston rod
extends; in the case of less extension force, the piston rod retracts.
The cross section of flow in the
damping system determines how
fast extension occurs.
Our new „space-mat®“ principle
with components designed in aerospace engineering makes sure that
oil is always available at the proper
point for the necessary lubrication.
In addition, a reservoir out of
extremely resilient, largely nonwearing material is filled at every
stroke.
Aside from nitrogen, a defined
amount of oil for lubrication and
damping in the final position is
also present in the inner chamber.
The damping performance of a gas
cylinder can be adjusted according
to need and task by way of a linear,
progressive or regressive spring
characteristic.

This principle makes the installation of the gas cylinder in any
position desired possible.
We test our gas cylinders 100 %
according to our internal testing
specifications. SUSPA gas cylinders
thus have a life expectancy of over
50,000 cycles in completely maintenance-free function. This corresponds on the average to 10 years
of use in the automobile branch in
the operation of luggage compartment lids and tailgates, or 20 years
of use in a skylight.

An Overview of
Series 16
SUSPA offers you an excellent gas
cylinder program with the „Series
16“, proven on the market for over
30 years and always on the newest
technological stand through constant innovation.
Our SUSPA liftline program includes four different basic types: the
models 16-1, 16-2, 16-4 and
16-6. The important differences lie
in the tube and piston rod diameters as well as in the differing
extension forces. The advantage is
that we can fulfill your special
technical requirements respectively
with the optimal gas cylinder
model.
SUSPA liftline With
Gentle End Damping:
The Soft-Stop
The SUSPA liftline program can be
used without a problem at extreme
temperatures. The scale extends
from -25 °C to +60 °C.
The SUSPA liftline standard gas
cylinder, already manufactured by
the millions, is also available with
the convenient „Soft-Stop" system.
Unlike the standard version, the
Soft-Stop variation possesses
position dependent directing of the
extension speed, in other words
position dependent damping.
Corrosion tests in our laboratories
(salt spray tests according to DIN
50021) ensure fulfillment of your
demands regarding environmental
influences, even beyond 144 hours.
A gentle limit stop is always ensured, regardless of the position of
the gas cylinder. The luggage compartment lid, for example, thus
begins to open fast, then slows
down and stops with a gentle
catch. Almost all leading European
automobile manufacturers use this
advantage.

High recyclability through
recoverable materials
We produce our gas cylinders
without the use of heavy metals.
An environmentally-sound threecomponent water-lacquer system is
used in lacquering the gas cylinder
tube. We thus make an active contribution to an environmentally friendly material cycle, which is concluded with the nearly complete
reprocessing of materials.
We thus create ecologically acceptable prerequisites for man and
product.
Proper Disposal
Specifications as well as safety
data sheets (EWG Nr. 1836/93,
SUSPA HOLDING GmbH is certified
in accordance with DIN ISO 14
000), are, of course, available for
all components used. These can –
in order to protect our know-how –
only be studied in our facilities.
SUSPA products contain oil and
may only be disposed of by SUSPA
HOLDING GmbH, the raw materials
industry or a hazardous wastes
collection site. Our products may
only be decompressed under observation of all environmental protection and accident prevention regulations by qualified personnel.
A drill (approx. 3 mm diameter and
10 mm depth) placed at approx.
20 mm from the tube end pointing
away from the piston rod (double
tube possible) is to be carried out
with the piston rod in an extended
position. Chips, nitrogen and oil
mist can be released at high speed
during this process; therefore secure the drill point. The oil must be
pumped out by way of stroke
movements of the piston rod and is
then to be properly disposed of.
All SUSPA employees know that
customer satisfaction is created by
every single one of them. We therefore grant you, when these rules
are observed, 1 year guarantee
on material and manufacturing
defects beyond the legal period of
6 months.
SUSPA gas cylinders fulfill the highest requirements in their fundamental design and because of their
reliability. The question of suitability for each individual application
lies, however, with the user.
We reserve the right to make
changes to the product without
notification if they are for further
progress.

Ihnen überall
Vielfältigkeit und
Kreativität
Anwendungsmöglichkeiten von
Gasfedern sind kaum Grenzen
gesetzt. Ebenso wie Ihren kreativen
Ideen. Und vielleicht denken Sie
gerade darüber nach, ob nicht eine
Gasfeder die bessere Lösung für
eine bestimmte Funktion ist.
Automobilhersteller setzen Gasfedern bei Heckklappen und Motorhauben ein. Gleiches gilt für
Gepäckklappen bei Reisebussen und
schweren Ausstellklappen bei Verkaufswagen. Und in der Haustechnik übernehmen Gasfedern das
mühelose Öffnen von Dachfenstern.
Küchenmöbel können durch Gasfedern ebenso komfortabel verstellt
werden wie Krankenhausbetten,
Operationstische und Sonnenbänke.
Auch in der Bürotechnik haben
Gasfedern längst Einzug gehalten.

Aufbau und Funktionsprinzip
Wie Kraft und
Federungskomfort
entstehen
Gasfedern sind hydropneumatische
Verstellelemente. Sie bestehen
aus Druckrohr und Kolbenstange
mit Kolbenpaket. Anschlußteile
an Druckrohr und Kolbenstange
ermöglichen die geeignete Verbindung zu Ihrer Anwendung.
Herzstück der SUSPA-Gasfeder ist
das spezielle Dichtungs- und Führungssystem. Dieses gewährleistet
die hermetische Abdichtung des
Innenraumes bei geringer Reibung,
auch unter extremen Umgebungseinflüssen.
Gefüllt wird die Gasfeder unter
hohem Druck mit Stickstoff.
Dadurch entsteht ein Fülldruck, der
wiederum auf die Querschnittsfläche der Kolbenstange wirkt. Auf
diese Weise wird die Ausschubkraft
erzeugt. Ist die Ausschubkraft der
Gasfeder höher als die Kraft des
Gegengewichtes, fährt die Kolbenstange aus, bei geringerer Ausschubkraft fährt sie ein. Wie
schnell dabei der Ausschub erfolgt,
bestimmt der Strömungsquerschnitt im Dämpfungssystem.

In der Automobilindustrie wie in
anderen Industriebereichen steigen
die Anforderungen an die Qualität.
Deshalb sind bei SUSPA Zertifizierungen nach QS-9000 und DIN EN
ISO 9001 längst selbstverständlich.
Ein effektives Qualitätsmanagement vom Einkauf über Fertigung
und Vertrieb bis zur Endanwendung
sichert den weltweit guten Ruf und
die Zuverlässigkeit der SUSPA-Gasfedern.
Unser neues „space-mat®"-Prinzip
mit Komponenten aus der Raumfahrttechnik stellt sicher, daß ständig Öl genau an der richtigen Stelle
zur erforderlichen Schmierung vorhanden ist. Das Öl befindet sich in
einem Reservoir aus extrem widerstandsfähigem, weitgehend verschleißfreien Material und wird von
dort bei jedem Hub abgegeben.
Dieses Prinzip ermöglicht Ihnen den
Einbau der Gasfeder in jeder beliebigen Lage.
Außer Stickstoff befindet sich im
Innenraum eine definierte Ölmenge
zur Schmierung und Endlagendämpfung.
Den Federungskomfort einer
Gasfeder kann man je nach Bedarf
und Aufgabe festlegen. Er wird
über eine lineare, progressive oder
degressive Federkennlinie
bestimmt.

Gasfedern prüfen wir zu 100 %
nach unserer internen Prüfvorschrift. Bei völlig wartungsfreier
Funktion erreichen SUSPA-Gasfedern standardmäßig eine Lebensdauer von über 50.000 Lastwechseln. Das entspricht im Schnitt 10
Jahren Nutzung im Automobilbereich beim Betätigen der Kofferraum- und Heckklappe oder 20
Jahren beim Einsatz in einem
Dachfenster.

im Überblick
Mit der „Baureihe 16" bietet SUSPA
Ihnen ein hervorragendes GasfederProgramm. Seit über 30 Jahren
bewährt im Markt und durch ständige Innovationen immer auf dem
neuesten Stand der Technik.
Unser SUSPA liftline-Programm
umfaßt vier verschiedene Grundtypen: die Typen 16-1,16-2, 16-4
und 16-6. Die wesentlichen
Unterschiede liegen in den Rohrund Kolbenstangen-Durchmessern
sowie in den unterschiedlichen
Ausschubkräften. Der Vorteil
besteht darin, daß wir Ihre speziellen technischen Anforderungen
jeweils mit dem optimalen
Gasfedertyp erfüllen können.
SUSPA liftline mit
sanfter Endlagendämpfung:
Die Soft-Stop
Die millionenfach gefertigte SUSPA
liftline Standard-Gasfeder ist auch
mit dem komfortablen „Soft-Stop"System lieferbar. Im Gegensatz
zur Standard-Version verfügt die
Soft-Stop-Variante über eine positionsabhängige Steuerung der Ausschubgeschwindigkeit, d.h. wegabhängige Dämpfung.
Unabhängig von der Lage der Gasfeder ist immer ein weicher Endanschlag gewährleistet. So öffnet sich
zum Beispiel die Kofferraumklappe
zunächst schnell, dann langsam
und stoppt mit weichem Anschlag.
Diesen Vorteil nutzen fast alle führenden europäischen Automobilhersteller.

Unser SUSPA liftline-Programm
können Sie problemlos bei extremen Temperaturen einsetzen. Die
Skala reicht von –25°C bis + 60°C.
Korrosionstests in unseren Labors
(Salzsprühtests nach DIN 50021)
stellen die Einhaltung Ihrer Anforderungen gegen Umwelteinflüsse
sogar über 144 Stunden sicher.

Hohe Recyclingfähigkeit durch
verwertbare Materialien
Selbstverständlich liegen für alle
eingesetzten Komponenten Spezifikationen bzw. Sicherheitsdatenblätter vor (EWG Nr. 1836/93,
SUSPA Holding AG ist zertifiziert
nach DIN ISO 14 000), die – zum
Schutze unseres Know-hows–
ausschließlich bei uns eingesehen
werden können.
Wir produzieren unsere Gasfedern
ohne belastende Schwermetalle.
Dazu erfolgt die Lackapplikation
der Gasfederrohre über ein umweltschonendes DreikomponentenWasserlacksystem. Auf diese Weise
leisten wir einen aktiven Beitrag
zum umweltfreundlichen Materialkreislauf, der durch die nahezu
vollständige Verwertung geschlossen wird.
Damit schaffen wir umweltverträgliche Voraussetzungen für Mensch
und Produkt.
Die SUSPA-Produkte enthalten Öl
und dürfen nur über die SUSPA
Holding AG, den Rohstoffhandel
oder eine Sondermüllsammelstelle
entsorgt werden. Unter Beachtung
aller Umweltschutz-und Unfallverhütungsvorschriften dürfen unsere
Produkte nur durch Fachpersonal
drucklos gemacht werden. Dazu ist
bei ausgefahrener Kolbenstange
eine Bohrung (ca. 3 mm Durchmesser und 10 mm Tiefe) in einem
Abstand von ca. 20 mm am kolbenstangenabgewandten Rohrende
(Doppelrohr möglich) anzubringen.
Bei diesem Prozeß können Späne,
Stickstoff und Ölnebel mit hoher
Geschwindigkeit austreten (Bohrstelle absichern). Durch Hubbewegungen der Kolbenstange ist das Öl
herauszupumpen und fachgerecht
zu entsorgen.
Alle SUSPA-Mitarbeiter wissen, daß
Kundenzufriedenheit an jedem einzelnen Arbeitsplatz erzeugt wird.
Daher gewähren wir Ihnen bei Einhaltung dieser Hinweise, über die
gesetzliche Frist von 6 Monaten
hinaus, 1 Jahr Garantiezeit auf
Material- und Fabrikationsfehler.
SUSPA-Gasfedern entsprechen in
ihrer grundsätzlichen Auslegung
und aufgrund ihrer Zuverlässigkeit
höchsten Anforderungen. Die Prüfung der Eignung für den jeweiligen Anwendungsfall obliegt jedoch
dem Anwender.
Änderungen, die dem Fortschritt
dienen, bleiben vorbehalten.
