APPLE CAPITAL LOOP TRAIL
WENATCHEE FOOTHILLS TRAILS
The Apple Capital Loop Trail is a fantastic resource for walking, running and biking
at the heart of the Wenatchee Valley. Accessible to all mobility levels, there are easy
access points on both sides of the river. Wonderfully manicured parks and lawns
decorate the west side; the east showcases natural beauty. Adventurous folks can
detour through the Horan Wildlife Preserve, prime birding territory at the confluence
of the Wenatchee and Columbia Rivers.
Adjacent to the city’s borders extends a carefully planned and well-used network of
trails in the Wenatchee Foothills through public lands and undeveloped lands owned
by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust. Balsamroot and lupine adorn the hills which a host
of wildlife call home.

OUR LIVELY DOWNTOWN CORE
Wenatchee’s downtown is small town America at its finest. A compact core of
businesses within walking distance of each other thrive with an invigorating vitality.
Vintage shops, handcrafted goods, studios, eateries and more are kept by individuals
as unique as they are friendly. Fresh young boutiques thrive next to hundred-year-old
businesses, and their leaders work together to make Wenatchee Downtown the very
best it can be.

This nine-acre evergreen oasis, with
sweeping views of the Wenatchee
Valley, began nearly a century ago as a
family garden retreat. The Ohme family
dreamed of building an alpine vista on
what previously was a sun-scorched
rocky outcrop, and initially sustained their
haven by hauling buckets of water from
the river below up the steep hill by hand.
Now visitors can relish the natural stone
pathways among lush foliage, tranquil
pools, towering cedars, rustic huts and
photographic panoramas.
Outdoor recreation is a driving force
bringing new residents and visitors to the
Wenatchee Valley. Easily accessed urban
trails lead to the surrounding foothills with
hiking and mountain biking trails. Local
crags challenge rock climbers. Nearby
rivers entice paddlers, boaters, and
fishermen. Towering over all of this are
the peaks of the high Cascades that skiers
and mountaineers love. There’s a lifetime
of outdoor adventures out our back door.

WENATCHEE VALLEY MUSEUM & CULTURAL CENTER
ROCKY REACH DAM VISITORS CENTER & MUSEUM
Explore our region’s heritage from the Ice Age to the present day. The Wenatchee
Valley Museum features exhibits on natural history, local stories and events. Learn
about the world’s first trans-pacific flight, the germination and growth of the apple
industry, early railroad routes and much more! Not only does it reflect our past, the
museum acts as a cultural hub and carries us forward with art, community events,
clubs, and support for documentary films.
A few miles north of Wenatchee, Rocky Reach Dam boasts a world class cultural
museum, a fish viewing room, and sprawling grassy picnic areas. Look a salmon in
the eye in the unique fish bypass system that guides millions of young salmon and
steelhead past the dam each year on their journey to the Pacific ... or discover the
hidden geocache treasures located throughout the site for a special prize and stamp
in your Geocache Challenge Passport.

PYBUS PUBLIC MARKET
FARM FRESH PRODUCE
Pybus Market looms on the banks of the mighty Columbia River. Originally a steel mill
founded by E.T. Pybus, it boomed in order to serve the local need for reliable orchard
equipment. Now the location bursts with a bumper crop of a different kind—high
quality artisan and ethnic products, local produce, fine food and wines. This community
hub buzzes all week long, resounding with live music on Friday nights, local expert
demonstrations on Tuesday nights, and a growing array of regular programs.
Copious amounts of sunshine make the Wenatchee Valley a prime agricultural
environment like none other on earth. A century ago, early settlers invested their
time and personal fortunes to irrigate the naturally arid landscape. Now, with fresh
water readily available through rivers and underground aquifers, the region is ripe
with bumper crops of fresh, seasonal bounty that nourish our children, our souls, our
economy and our world.

BREWERIES & TAP HOUSES
Our hot sunny days and crisp fall nights
are world-renowned for growing tree
fruits; the past several decades have
seen the rapid growth of the eastern
Washington wine industry as well. The
Wenatchee climate produces a wide range
of wine grapes that are pressed into truly
memorable and consistently award-winning
wines. Our passionate winemakers are
equally deserving of high marks for their
personalities and memorable stories, which
they share enthusiastically.
Wenatchee is currently experiencing a
tidal wave of local craft brewing, which
has been welcomed with open arms from
beer enthusiasts thirsty for high-quality
local brews. It is one thing to enjoy a
quality beer, and as our community
shows, quite another to experience it in
good company at one of our many tap
houses. People flock to trivia nights, home
brewing club meetings, and great food
at their favorite spots. One thing is clear:
there is nothing so fine as raising a glass
of local suds with friends at the end of a
day full of adventures. Cheers!
