Welcome to 2016 FISHIN’ FOOLS
What’s Ahead . . .
December
Fish of the Month
Cabin Fever Almost
Here!
The cost is only $20 per person. The club will pick up
the tip. The date is February 13th. Bring your Valentine
and make it a Sweetheart’s Weekend!
As in years past The Fishin’ Fools will attempt to ease
the pain of winter as cold winds remind us that we’ll
have to be patient a little longer. As we start to get
fidgety and irritable, aching to shed all those heavy
clothes and wet a line help is at hand! It’s our annual
mid-winter bash; the CABIN FEVER PARTY!
ALL NEW this year is a change of venue. Forget putting
on studded snow tires or chains to make your way to
the restaurant this year as we will be meeting at the
Riverview Restaurant on Rte. 25 and Mill St. in
downtown Montgomery, IL.
The buffet style dinner will be held in a private dining
room with private entrance, private bathroom,
fireplace and plenty of room. Dress casual. Lots of
FUN!
Don’t forget 2016 dues are now due!

Aluminum --- PLEASE DONATE ---

is known for having some well-known and experienced
speakers. Speakers this year are:
Ish Monroe http://www.ishmonroe.com/ and Peter
Thliveros http://petertfishing.com/peter-thliveros/ .
The seminars are free and if you volunteer to help out
at our booth there’s usually a chance to pop in on at
least one; maybe more. You may also want to browse
the tackle shop to see what new lures/equipment is
available for the coming fishing season.
Feb 1st Meeting &
Swap-O-Thon
The February 1st meeting will feature our annual swapmeet where members may stake a claim on a table
and sell or swap fishing gear or . . . whatever.
Last year saw a number of items go at phenomenal
prices! Bring your wares, bring your cash. If you’re
selling, bring change; the club will not supply it.
It’s going to be BIG, BIG, BIG!
Following the swap meet Danny Cossich will discuss
our point system and tournament rules.
SIDE NOTE: In years past some of our members have also
attended the March swap meet held at Rockdale, IL (on
Larkin Ave. just south of Joliet). This annual sale has been
moved to March 19th from 8am-3pm at:
American Legion
Alexander Bradley Burns Post 80
4000 Saratoga Avenue
Downers Grove, IL 60515
We really count on our members to provide support
for this event and hope you can include it in your busy
schedule.
Lunch will be available both Saturday and Sunday with
donations going to charity so you won’t go hungry but
remember to dress warmly as this is a large building
for displaying boats and is ALWAYS cold in February!
Bass Pro to Host March
Bedford Sales Open House

to being a great opportunity for our club to seek out
new members and expand brand awareness this show
Fishin’ Fools Meeting
The March 7 club meeting of the Oswegoland Fishin’
Fools will be held at the Bass Pro Shop in Bolingbrook,
IL. Danny Cossich will talk about catfishing
techniques with suggestions for fishing Braidwood and
LaSalle lakes. We will start promptly at 7PM as we
must be out of the store by 9PM. Come early and
stock up for the up-coming events!
a natural fit to name it in memory of Tony. In

to what we have done in October in the past.

Fox River Event Replaced by
Tony Cox Memorial Tourney
A number of our club members asked why we
eliminated the Fox River from our Events this
year. The Planning Committee used a number of
factors in this decision. One reason was the
difficulty in adhering to the rules. It's difficult
enough measuring your fish while wading and it's
even more difficult having a partner witness your
catch. Another reason is the unpredictability of
the river flow and trying to keep it safe for all
members. Last year the Event was a flop mainly
because of the heat. This year instead of having
this as an Event, we decided to name the Illinois
River Event in July, the Tony Cox Memorial
Tournament. The Illinois River is one local Event
that has been consistent year after year, so it was
Members Speak Out !
Got a good fishing tip? Know of a new hot spot that
you’d care to share with fellow club members? Have
an idea that will make our club even better? Maybe a
speaker you’d like to recommend? Well, this is the
place.
I know our club members have great ideas and great
information to share. I believe that the big problem for
many is finding an easy way to reach other members
without “broadcasting” that information to the whole
world via social media or e-mailing everyone. Well,
here’s your answer, send it to me. I would really like to
make this newsletter a place where we can help and
support each other. Please help me do that.
