Dear Lightning Fans,
As we begin the 2011-12 Tampa Bay Lightning season, we have
a lot to be excited about. Head coach Guy Boucher and his
Lightning team are fresh off a great playoff run last spring, one
which saw us fall just one goal short of reaching the Stanley Cup
Finals. Our full season ticket base has more than doubled over
last season, and our new micro-chipped jersey is revolutionizing
fan loyalty programs throughout the sports world. In fact, we look
forward to seeing more than 10,000 fans sporting the same home
Lightning blue jerseys each night that the players will be wearing
on the ice.
And the transformation of the St. Pete Times Forum saw Chairman
and Governor Jeff Vinik invest $40 million into the arena this past
summer. The results will transform the fan experience and we think
you’ll understand our excitement once you get to enjoy the arena
for yourself. We have opened up the concourses to the ice,
added plenty of new fan amenities and replaced every stadium
seat in the Times Forum with padded theater-style seats,
complete with cup holders. You’ll now feel a sense of “Tampa
Bay” everywhere you walk in the building.
In the following pages, we are presenting a helpful reference
to help you better utilize the Times Forum and manage your
relationship with the Lightning, our players and other fans.
This A to Z Guide aims to explain everything you need to
know about the St. Pete Times Forum, the Tampa Bay Lightning
and the National Hockey League, including the new facets of
our transformed arena.
We hope you have a great 2011-12 season and we look forward
to your being the Thunder behind our Lightning.
Sincerely,
Dave Andreychuk
Vice President of Fans and Business Development

Community Relations
The Tampa Bay Lightning Community Relations Department aims to lead
by example, inspire others, and offer hope to those less fortunate in
order to create a lasting impact in the Tampa Bay community. This will be
accomplished through the donations of in-kind merchandise, lending time
and resources to local non-profit organizations and through programming
in Bay area schools, hospitals and the military.
C.H.A.R.G.E. Program
C.H.A.R.G.E. - Contributing Hours Across our Region through our
Generous Employees, is Tampa Bay Sports & Entertainment’s employee
volunteer program. Its objective is to have the Lightning/Storm Family
C.H.A.R.G.E. throughout the Tampa Bay community volunteering a
minimum of 4,000 hours at various non-profits each year. Each month,
without fail, the C.H.A.R.G.E. Committee will sponsor a volunteer event
in the community to demonstrate the importance of giving back.
In-Kind/Charitable Merchandise Donations
The Tampa Bay Lightning is delighted to support a wide range of
charities and community organizations each year through the donations
of in-kind merchandise. The team takes pride in being able to provide
fundraising support to non-profit groups all while strengthening
relationships across the community. Each year the Bolts are asked to
support thousands of worthwhile charitable events via the donations of
in-kind merchandise. Donation requests can be made through an online
request form at www.tampabaylightning.com, by clicking on the
“In-Kind Merchandise Donations” link under the “Community” tab.
Most of these programs are free of charge or may be used as fund-raising
opportunities for local nonprofit organizations, youth groups and educational
programs. These programs reach thousands of children of all ages through
hundreds of events each year.
The Lightning continue to support several Florida youth hockey events.
They include the Statewide Amateur Hockey of Florida (SAHOF) High
School Championships, the SAHOF High School All-Star game and the
Team Florida Chicago Showcase team.

History
St. Pete Times Forum History
Ground broke on the St. Pete Times Forum in 1995 with the building officially
opening in 1996. Though the first event at the Times Forum was the Royal
Hanneford Circus, the first Lightning game was played on October 20, 1996, a
5-2 win over the New York Rangers. Since dropping the puck for the first time,
the Bolts have gone on to raise multiple banners to the rafters, including the
2004 Stanley Cup Championship, 2004 Eastern Conference Championship, as
well as 2002-03 and 2003-04 Southeast Division Championships.
Tampa Bay Lightning History
Founded by Hockey Hall-of-Famer Phil Esposito, the Lightning was named
after Esposito watched a storm roll in over Tampa Bay. On December 6, 1990,
the NHL announced that Esposito’s vision would become reality and that the
Lightning would begin play for the 1992-93 season. On October 7, 1992, at
the Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall, the Lightning dropped the puck on the
franchise with a 7-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks that featured four goals
by Chris Kontos, a team record that still stands today.
The arena, also home to the Arena Football League’s Tampa Bay Storm, has
hosted numerous high-profile events including the 1999 NHL All-Star Game,
the 2007 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament, the 2008 NCAA Women’s Final
Four, the 2009 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament, a rally for then-presidential
candidate Barack Obama and more. The Times Forum is scheduled to host the
2012 Republican National Convention in August as well as the 2012 NCAA
Men’s Hockey Championship, the Frozen Four (April). It is annually named
as one of the busiest venues in North America by Pollstar and other leading
venue publications. The building serves as the centerpiece of downtown
Tampa’s Channel District which includes numerous hotels, restaurants and
nightlife options.
The team moved from Expo Hall to the Thunderdome in downtown
St. Petersburg (now Tropicana Field) on July 20, 1993. On October 9, 1993
the Lightning set a NHL single-game attendance record when 27,227 fans
attended the first regular season game at the new dome against the Florida
Panthers. Tampa Bay made its NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs debut there in 1996,
taking on the Philadelphia Flyers in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal.
The Lightning eventually lost the hard-fought series in six games. The Bolts
moved into the new St. Pete Times Forum (then known as the Ice Palace) in
downtown Tampa for its next season.
During the summer of 2011, the publicly-owned St. Pete Times Forum
underwent a $40 million transformation that was privately funded by Tampa
Bay Sports and Entertainment owner and chairman Jeff Vinik. The building
boasts 69 executive suites - 20 on the lower level and 49 on the upper level.
There is a newly renovated, open-air box office, new seats with cup holders,
performance stage with a massive pipe organ as well as a signature outdoor
paradise deck overlooking downtown Tampa. The capacity at the St. Pete
Times Forum ranges up to 21,000 depending on the event.
It would take a few years for Tampa Bay to again get a taste of the postseason, but in 2002-03 the Lightning captured their first Southeast Division
title. That year the Lightning went on to defeat the Washington Capitals
in six games in the Conference Quarterfinal for what was the franchise’s
first series win. Despite a loss to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion New
Jersey Devils in the second round, the seeds were sewn for future success.
The next season Tampa Bay had the best campaign in team history, posting
a 46-22-8-6 record with 106 points and a second consecutive division
championship. But it was what happened in the postseason that became the
franchise’s crowning achievement. Following a 23-game gauntlet against
some of the NHL’s best teams, the Lightning captured the organization’s first
Stanley Cup Championship on June 7, 2004 on home ice with a 2-1 win in
Game 7 against the Calgary Flames.
Complete with a new owner and vision, a transformed Lightning team
played to within one game of the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, Jeff Vinik’s first
full season as owner and chairman. That team tied the franchise record for
wins in a season with 46 and was second for points with 103. The Lightning
now look toward the future with a rejuvenated fan base and heightened
expectations.

Each coil will throw lightning 25’ in two directions – a total of 100’ of high
voltage fun.
It’s estimated be the largest amount of indoor lightning throw…in the world!

The Lightning Community Hero Program
The Lightning Community Hero Program is an exciting concept that
celebrates the community’s heroes in a unique and electrifying way.
Throughout each of the team’s 41 regular season home games in
2011-12, the Lightning will honor a community hero and also award
$50,000 to an eligible non-profit organization representative of that
hero’s cause. Over the course of the season, a total of $2,050,000 will
be handed out to worthy community causes. Fans are encouraged to
log on to http://tampabaylightning.com/heroes to receive additional
details about the program, as well as to nominate deserving individuals
who are making the Tampa Bay area a better place to live, work and
play.
In-Game Silent Auctions
The Lightning Foundation will conduct a live, in-game silent auction
at section 128 every evening (home game night). These one-of-a-kind
silent auctions will feature dynamic sports memorabilia from not only
your favorite members of the Tampa Bay Lightning, but other stars
in the sports world, past and present. All proceeds will benefit the
Lightning Foundation and its youth hockey outreach programs.
Sled Hockey
A unique program that is only five years old and already making large
strides to grow the sport and to reach out to as many interested
athletes as possible. As a supplement to numerous monthly practices
and scrimmages at the St. Pete Times Forum, the Lightning Sled
Hockey Team, funded through the Lightning Foundation, participates in
a national tournament each spring.

Television
Tampa Bay Lightning games will be broadcast throughout the Lightning
television territory (Tampa Bay, Orlando, Sarasota, Jacksonville) on Sun
Sports, which can be found on cable and satellite systems statewide.
Sun Sports will carry 68 of the Lightning’s 82 games this season. The
veteran Lightning broadcast team of Rick Peckham and Bobby “the Chief”
Taylor will call all the action while Paul Kennedy serves as rinkside
reporter. Look for expert analysis from Bolts’ Stanley Cup Champions Dave
Andreychuk and Chris Dingman before and after the games.
Additionally, the Versus network will televise another 11 games nationally,
including the entire state of Florida, meaning virtually all of the Lightning
regular season games can be watched on television in 2011-12. Versus
will be renamed the NBC Sports Network on January 1, 2012, but it will
remain in the same location on your cable or satellite lineup.
Terrace Level
Located on the sixth floor of the St. Pete Times Forum, the Terrace level is
home to the following attractions:
Bud Light Party Deck: Themed bar area reserved for the loudest Lightning
fans surrounding the pipe organ. This deck will be complete with covered
canopies, seating, stage, dance floor and a spectacular view of both downtown and the Channelside bay.
Between the Pipes presented by Coors Light: The Lightning’s new, grand digital
pipe organ is the signature centerpiece to a new terrace level bar and fan
destination. The litany of sounds this instrument can conjure will shake the
Times Forum’s very foundation, recall a traditional age in the NHL and
establish new fan traditions too. Perched atop a performance stage unlike
anything in the league, the instrument is a 5-manual, 105-rank masterpiece
designed and manufactured by Walker Custom Theater Organs of Zionsville,
PA.

Weapons
No weapons of any kind are permitted in the St. Pete Times Forum.
Licensed law enforcement officials attending the event as a guest are
prohibited from carrying weapons.
Wheelchairs
See “Accessible Seating”
Zingo can get you home safely. Zingo is a service which will send a driver
to drive you home in your own car. They place a small scooter in your trunk
which they use to return to their office after dropping you off. If the patron’s
destination is too far for the scooter, Zingo sends a chase car to pick up
the driver. All you need to do is visit the Guest Services desk behind section
101 and we will help get you set up with a safe ride from Zingo.
Wheelchair Escorts
Need a little extra help getting to your seats? Our Guest Services staff will
be happy to assist you. Whether it is traveling to your seat or back to your
car in the 15 Minute Circle, Guest Services is there for you. Simply ask any
quest services attendant for assistance.
