Collaborative Acute Care of the Elderly (CACE) Unit is a 19-bed acute care unit for frail
elders who are at risk for significant functional decline, readmissions and adverse events.
This unit provides a comprehensive, collaborative approach to care with providers and
team members who have expertise in geriatrics.

CONSULT TEAM
Palliative Care specializes in health care that focuses on relief from the symptoms, pain,
and stress of people facing a serious illness. Unlike Hospice, Palliative Care is appropriate
for patients in all disease stages, including those undergoing treatment for curable
illnesses, those living with chronic illnesses, as well as those nearing the end of life.

The Special Care Nursery (SCN) at Maple Grove Hospital provides family-centered care to
infants and their families. Our SCN is a 12-bed Level II nursery providing 24/7 neonatology
support, including neonatal nurse practitioner presence.
The SCN cares for premature infants born at 32 weeks gestation as well as full term
newborns who are moderately ill with problems that are expected to resolve quickly. In
addition, infants who require intensive observation or newborns less than 28 days of age
returning to the hospital for enhanced services may also be admitted to the SCN.
