Many young children and their families rely on their skills and expertise for providing the best care and educational services in a home-style environment. In addition, they rely on family child care providers to foster healthy environments promoting overall health and wellness in child care. Understanding this, Family Child Care FUNdamentals (FCCF), a research-based training, was developed to assist providers with those skills and resources for meeting the needs of young children. This 6-hour training is being sponsored by CACFP and facilitated by the National Food Service Management Institute (NFSMI). Date: Saturday, October 4th Time: 9:00 am—4:00 pm (Lunch is 12:00—1:00 pm on your own) Fee: FREE! HACAP Paces to Quality is available to assist both home and center-based early care and education providers. We offer free or reduced cost trainings throughout the year to providers participating in the program. ♦ Home-based services are offered in Linn, Jones and Benton Counties. We support home child care providers to grow professionally beyond basic registration by encouraging participation in ChildNet Certification, training, Iowa Quality Rating System (QRS), Child Development Associate (CDA) and national accreditation. Home providers may receive incentives for participation, equipment grants and home visits that include developmentally appropriate materials to keep, if eligible. ♦ Center-based services are offered in Linn County. Paces to Quality and trained community volunteers provide free environmental rating scale assessments in the fall and spring. Following assessments, an early childhood professional will help the child care centers/preschools interpret the results by identifying strengths and challenges. The consultant and staff devise a plan of action and HACAP administers equipment grants to participating classrooms. We are accepting applications now until August 15th, please contact us if you would like your center/preschool to participate and/or if you would like to be a volunteer. Call Paces to Quality at 319-739-1556 for more information about our services. 3 Early Childhood Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (EC-PBIS) This 22-hour series is designed to assist child care providers, who are working with preschool aged children, with new strategies and techniques to reduce challenging behaviors and promote positive behavior in their child care setting.
