ABOUT THE CHAMPAIGN COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
CORPORATION
Recognizing that Champaign County is the premier mid-sized community in Illinois,
the mission of the Champaign Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is to provide
leadership in coordinating unified efforts in business development, retention, and expansion
initiatives as well as increase use of Willard Airport through local and regional marketing
efforts.
The EDC is responsible for assisting businesses with establishing new and expanded
operations to Champaign County, assisting existing business and industry with survival,
expansion and growth as well as providing start--up business with information about the
Champaign County marketplace.
The Champaign County Economic Development Corporation strives to:
• Market the community to new and prospective business as well as relating business
opportunities to local companies
• Assemble and disseminate community market data for analyzing the community's
business environment
• Maintain a database of available commercial and industrial properties in the
community
• Provide assistance in identifying financing alternatives through local financial
institutions as well as low interest loans available from local, state and federal government
• Maintain relationships with area builders, developers, realtors and communities
within the county to provide expertise in facility identification and development
• Work with business and community leaders to identify and provide insight on
issues affecting the economic growth and stability of the area

INTRODUCTION
The Champaign County Top Employers Directory is one of the tools utilized by the
Champaign County Economic Development Corporation to market our community to
businesses considering relocation or expansion of their operations. In addition, the directory
is an excellent resource for companies already doing business in Champaign County.
Eligibility for listing in the Top Employers Directory is reserved for companies with 50 or
more employees working within Champaign County. In previous years, the directory listed
only those companies located in the cities of Champaign and Urbana. The directory now
includes all companies within the boundaries of Champaign County.
The information contained in this document has been obtained from sources that we
believe to be reliable, but its accuracy is not guaranteed. Listing in the directory is voluntary.
Any exclusions are unintentional or at the request of the company. For those companies
which did not respond to our request for information, we have listed the latest information
available to us.
The Champaign County Economic Development Corporation is willing to consider

Since the 2002 edition, Champaign County employers in this directory have added
2,148 jobs.
o The Wal-Mart Corporation added the most jobs in aggregate, with a total of
845 among the municipalities of Urbana, Champaign and Rantoul.
o No one sector experienced substantial increases or decreases in employment;
rather, the results were widespread, often with substantial changes, both
positive and negative, occurring in the same sector.
o Approximately 60 percent of the county’s top employers are located in
Champaign while Urbana and Rantoul rank second and third, respectively.

o No one sector is the primary employment sector; rather, employment
distribution is fairly well distributed with Retail, Professional, Manufacturing,
Education and High Tech industries composing the top five sectors with the
