Flying 4 Kids
All Ages Welcome!
Keep your eye to the sky in the month of May. The Westmont Park
District will take part in the 6th annual Flying 4 Kids statewide kite
fly in May to help promote the sport of kite flying. We will have the
Illinois Kite Enthusiast (IKE) club come out to do demonstrations
and show off their assortment of kites. At 2:00PM, we will have the
participants take part in the “Candy Drop,” which allows the kids to
collect candy that falls from the kites. If you don’t have a kite, no
problem, there will be opportunities at this event to make your own
kite. Come on out and enjoy the lost art of kite flying. Concessions
will be available to purchase.

Bites with the Bunny
All Ages Welcome!
Let’s have some Bunny fun as you begin your morning alongside
your family eating a fabulous breakfast buffet. It’s all you can eat –
muffins, bagels, granola bars, doughnut holes, and assorted cakes.
Also, fruit, milk, water, juice and coffee will be available. Little
hands will be busy when they decorate their own hard-boiled egg
and color an Easter picture to try to win a prize. It all takes place in
a warm and relaxed setting where children will have plenty of time
to visit and take pictures with our special guest – the Easter Bunny!
Then, it’s just a hop away to the Babe Ruth Field for the annual
Easter Egg Hunt. It’s sure to be a memorable morning, so don’t
forget the camera. Doors open promptly. You must pre-register.
Hurry, this is a sell-out event! Children under age 2 are free.

Westmont Park District Memorial Tree Planting Program
Trees can be purchased as a gift for a friend, for yourself or in memory of a loved one. A tree can also
be purchased for a newborn to commemorate their birth year, and your family can watch as both grow
through the years!
All trees purchased through the Memorial Tree Planting Program consist of tree planting, the
PRXQWLQJRIDSHUPDQHQWSODTXHDQGDFHUWLÀFDWHRISODQWLQJLVVXHGWRWKHGRQDWLQJSDUW\7UHHVFDQEH
planted in the park of your choice and purchased at any time throughout the year; planting will be in
spring and fall.
Westmont Park District Commemorative Brick & Park Bench Program
The Westmont Park District offers a Commemorative Brick & Park Bench Program; a way to
remember your cherished time here in Westmont or to remember and honor a loved one.
These clay-fired bricks will be prominently placed at Ty Warner Park. Special requests cannot be
granted for specific locations, colors or type styles; the brick color is selected by the Westmont Park
District and each brick will be engraved with the same typeface. Orders will be accepted at any time
and until available space sells out. Please note that orders received after May 1 will not be placed in
the ground until Memorial Day of the following year.
The Westmont Park District will work with you to determine a great space for your Commemorative
Park Bench. Requests for a specific location may be made, but are not guaranteed. Have a favorite
bench already in one of the parks? Plaques can also be purchased and added to existing benches to
remember a loved one.
Order forms are available at the Administration Building, 55 E. Richmond Street;
the Community Center, 75 E. Richmond Street; or online at www.wpd4fun.org.
Please call (630) 969-8080 for more information and pricing.

Daddy Daughter Date Night
Sand, Shells & Sandals
Ages: 4-9
Spring is right around the corner, and we have a sun-sational evening
planned for fathers and their little mermaids! Warm up and feel the
tropical climate as we picnic at the Westmont beach with sandwiches,
shell pasta, chips, potato salad, cold drinks and a yummy sandy dessert.
Then, it’s onto a unique venue as dads and daughters
together create an extraordinary 3-D shaped cake of
summertime flip-flops! This Nickelodeon awardnominated program for Best Children’s Entertainment
is the brainchild of Kathy Colombo. She brings her
business to us, equipped with all the cakes, decorations,
frosting, sprinkles, aprons, toppings and accessories. Each delicious
cake will be as special and different as each of the girls and dads who
make them. Afterward, their sandals creation gets carefully put in a
bakery box and sent home, ready to share with the rest of the family!
Let the baking begin!

Dear Westmont Park District Residents,
We hope you enjoyed our various offerings this past fall! We are excited to share with you
our new winter/spring activities that the staff has been diligently planning for this upcoming
season. We will once again be offering your favorite cold weather activities such as sledding
at Ty Warner Park and ice skating and hockey at Veterans Memorial Park.
Meetings of
the Park Board
Board meetings are held
on the second Thursday
of each month at 6:00PM
in the Linden Room,
located at the
Senior Center,
55 E. Richmond Street.
These meetings are
open to the public.
As a reminder, our annual Holly Days Winter Festival will kick off on Friday, November 25
with the Frosty and Friends Night Parade, followed by the official tree lighting ceremony
across from the Westmont Centre. Other Holly Days events include Season’s Splendor
Saturday Nights, The Polar Express, The Frost Tee Golf Outing and much more.
As the spring warms up, outdoor activities will also heat up at the Westmont Park District.
Highlighting our spring special events is our annual Bites with the Bunny and Easter Egg
Hunt. Spring also marks the start of summer athletic registration including W.Y.B.A. Baseball,
GEMS softball, spring soccer and our adult leagues. Make sure you register early because
space is limited for these programs. In addition to our great athletics offerings, we have a wide
variety of programs for all ages, hobbies and interests; be sure to check them all out!
In closing we would like to say how proud we are to continue to do all that we can to provide
fun and safe activities for all ages to enjoy. Be happy and remember to Take Time for Fun!

being show today and this radio adaptation gives us this show as we

HOLLY DAYS
Grinch Candy Cane Scramble
Ages: 4-8 years with an adult
The Grinch discovered that there wasn’t any way to keep red candy canes out of Veterans Park on candy
hunt day. So he devised a new plan…though not quite as mean. He’s planning to find all the red ones and
turn them all green. This event will begin with the story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas in the
Linden Room. Then armed with flashlights we’ll head for the park to find the all the candy canes
hidden in the dark. The adventure will conclude with a cup of hot chocolate and some yummy
cookies all while the Grinch hands out the prizes to those that found the special candy canes.
Pre-registration is required by the deadline date since the candy cane supplies are limited and we
want to be sure to have enough for everyone. Don’t forget to dress warm and bring a flashlight!
In the event of inclement weather, the candy cane hunt will be held inside. Registration deadline
is November 28.

In the spirit of giving, the Holly Days Committee will create a Giving Tree at the Community Center for local families who
need some extra help this season. Each star on the tree will represent a Westmont neighbor who could use your help. Please
stop in, select a star, purchase a gift and know that you’ve helped make a neighbor’s holiday brighter. Stars will be available
beginning November 10. Gifts should be returned to the Community Center no later than December 14.
Gifts will be picked up by the families on Friday, December 16 at Westmont Centre, 1 S. Cass Avenue.

Phone Calls from Santa
Mail your letter to Santa using our very special North Pole mailbox
located in the lobby of the Community Center. Address your letter to
Santa & Mrs. Claus at 1 N. Candy Cane Lane, The North Pole and the
elves will make sure to get your letter to Santa. Be sure to drop your
letter off by December 14 so Santa has plenty of time to reply during
his busiest time of year. Don’t forget to include your address so Santa
can write back!
Santa is very eager to speak to all good little boys and girls before the
big day. Have you been good? If so, have Mom or Dad stop by the
Community Center and fill out our very special form to send to Santa.
He has set aside Thursday, December 15 to call all of the boys and
girls. Calls will be made between 5:30 and 8:00PM. Santa must have
all forms by Tuesday, December 13!
Breakfast with Santa,
Mrs. Claus and Rudolph
All ages welcome!
This morning is dedicated to the young, and the
young at heart. The Lions Club will be preparing a
delicious hot breakfast consisting of pancakes, sausage,
juice, milk and cookies. It’s all you can eat, so bring a hearty
appetite! Then, it’s on to Christmas cheer as Santa, Mrs.
Claus and Rudolph join together for a special holiday show.
There will be singing, laughter and fun for everyone. Each
child will get to visit Santa in his workshop and share
their wish list with him. This is a sell-out event, so sign
up early! Don’t forget your camera as there will be plenty
of time to take pictures. You must pre-register. Children

Proof of Residence
Non-Resident Fee
Policies set forth by the Westmont Park District
Board of Commissioners define a resident as
anyone living within the boundary of the
Westmont Park District. Anyone working or
operating a business within the Park District
boundaries, but living outside the boundaries
shall not be considered a resident. We don’t
always recognize our neighbors; from time
to time, we may ask to see proof of residence
when you register for programs in person. All
new residents must show proof of residency.
Part of the cost of programs is assumed with tax
dollars. Therefore, those who are not residents of
the Westmont Park District will be assessed a
non-resident fee. Non-residents pay an additional
50% per program. Preschool, Day Camp and
Leagues may have different non-resident fee
structures. See program for details.
Accident Policy
The Westmont Park District does not provide
medical insurance coverage for injuries suffered
while participating in Park District programs,
or while using park facilities. The Park District
therefore, can assume no responsibility for
personal injury while participating in recreation
programs or while using park facilities.
Online registration information can
be found at www.wpd4fun.org

Primary focus is on mail-in registration with a
daily lottery system. After a two week period,
over the counter registration will be accepted on a
first come first served basis.
Accessibility
The Westmont Park District is committed to
accessibility for all individuals with disabilities
and strives to comply with the 1990 Americans

Satisfaction Guaranteed
Refund Policy
A full refund will be issued if you are
dissatisfied after the 1st class with the
program or the program is cancelled by the
park district. A completed Refund Request
form must be submitted prior to the midpoint
of the program or within five working days
of a single meeting activity. This written
refund request form will help us improve the
service we provide. A refund will be issued
when a completed Refund Request form is
submitted five business days prior to the
first class meeting and will be subjected to a
$5.00 service charge. A prorated withdrawal
refund will be made for participants who
decide, for whatever personal reason
(including injury or illness), that an ongoing
program is not right for them. The prorated
refund will be based on the number of
classes that have occurred at the time the
Refund Request form is received by the park
district. The Superintendant of Recreation
will consider exceptions to this policy due
to other extenuating circumstances. The
Refund policy excludes trip tickets,
preschool and camp deposits and adult sports
leagues. Please allow two weeks to receive
your refund check in the mail.
