Flight Training
Doss Aviation’s history as a premier flight training company began with
the U.S. Army at Ft. Rucker, Alabama and at Ft. Stewart, Georgia, in the
early 1970s. Doss was proud to provide world-class helicopter training
to students in the Initial Entry Rotary Wing training course at Ft Rucker
flying the TH-55. In 2014, Doss was awarded the Advanced Rotary
Wing Training contract at Ft. Rucker, providing IPs to train in the UH60A/L/M, AH-64D and CH-47F. Our refined military-style training was
expanded to the Air Force to include the complete package of aircraft maintenance and aviation logistics support services for the Air Force’s Initial Flight Screening program. We successfully operated and maintained T-41 aircraft
from October 1979 to September 1993 for the U.S. Air Force at Hondo, Texas.
In February 1994, we transitioned to the T-3A Firefly and the
U.S. Air Force’s Enhanced Flight Screening Program. This military-style training continues today at Doss Aviation’s flight training facility for the U.S. Air Force’s Initial Flight training (IFT)
program. The Doss-developed training facility and curriculum
provides introductory flight training for all U.S. Air Force aviation candidates. The company owned and operated state-of-theart flying training facility supports Headquarters Air Education
and Training Command and is known as the “Gateway to Air
Force Aviation.” Doss provides a turn-key flight training solution
to offer a military-like training environment to include: ground
school academics, flight instruction, briefing rooms, dining facility, lodging, fitness center, and 24-hour security.
Every U.S. Air Force aviator candidate, be it pilot, combat systems officer, or remotely piloted aircraft pilot, receives
flight instruction, Air Force aviator introduction, and candidate screening at the Doss facility in preparation for follow-on flight training at any
of the Air Force’s Undergraduate Flight Training locations. Because of
the outstanding reputation Doss Aviation has, we are able to attract a
world-class Instructor Pilot (IP) workforce. Our current cadre of IPs
supporting the IFT program average approximately 5,000 flight hours
and 3,000 IP hours. The majority of our IPs are former military pilots
who have extensive experience and backgrounds in all types of military aircraft, including fighters, bombers, airlift, helicopters, test pilots
and even two former members of the USAF Thunderbirds. Visit the
