2015 Foundation for Success Luncheon
Raises a record-breaking $628,000
W
hen Bill Walton, six-foot 11-inch former two-time NBA champion, toured
KidWorks’ preschool, the children definitely looked up to him--but not just
because of his height. His warmth and kindness instantly won them over.
Bill’s visit occurred just ahead of his generous participation as the featured
speaker at our Foundation for Success Luncheon, held on November 19th at
Santa Ana’s DoubleTree Hotel.
Bill is famous for his work as an ABC/ESPN/NBC basketball announcer,
former NBA all-star basketball player, UCLA All-American, and is regarded as one
of the 50 greatest players in NBA history. Now in its ninth year, the 2015
Foundation for Success Luncheon raised a record-breaking $628,000, which
represents 65 percent of our after-school program budget.
The monies raised will help fund academic enrichment, mentoring, tutoring
and leadership development programs, among others. The $628,000 raised this year
brings to $4.3 million the cumulative total over the nine years the event has been
held, making it our single largest fund-raising event each year.
“We are so grateful for the generosity of our sponsors, donors and luncheon attendees!” said Steve Craig, CEO of Craig Realty Group, KidWorks Board
Member, and FFS event Chair. “Like many of you, I’ve chosen to support
KidWorks because I believe that the work they are doing in the community has a
profound impact and is making a huge difference in the lives of the children, youth
and families served. Ultimately, these success stories will lead to the next
generation of doctors, nurses, lawyers, and entrepreneurs in Orange County.”
KidWorks wishes to thank every individual and organization for their
continued support of the Foundation for Success, and for inspiring us to make the
2016 10-year anniversary event the best ever.
