The Venice International Architecture Biennale is one of the
most significant events in the International architecture calendar
attracting thousands of people. A response exhibition will
be held in Hong Kong, where various media events, forums,
performances, film screenings and festivals will be held to
continue the discussion points from the Venice Biennale and
engage the local community in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Institute of Architects and Hong Kong Arts
Development Council are co-organizers of the event. Oval
Partnership is the Curator of the exhibition. Create Hong Kong
is the leading Sponsor and other key sponsors include the
Development Bureau, HKSAR.
We would like to invite you to become an Individual Sponsor
for the Venice Biennale Hong Kong Exhibition and the Response
Exhibition in Hong Kong. As part of your sponsorship package
we will conduct a two-day VIP Secret Venice tour on Saturday
20th and Sunday 21st October 2012. Please refer to the enclosed
programme for details of the tour.
We are seeking a minimum Sponsorship amount of HKS 35,000
per head from each Individual Sponsor which will include the 2
day Secret Venice tour (excluding flights and accommodation).
Proceeds of your sponsorship will be allocated to the response
exhibition of the Venice Biennale in Hong Kong in Spring 2013. If
you are unable to attend the Secret Venice tour, but would like
to support the exhibition in Hong Kong, we would welcome your
support. Sponsorship options are included in the reply slip.
In addition to the tour individual sponsors will also be entitled to
the following:
• Acknowledgement in all future publications of the
2012-2013 Venice Biennale Hong Kong exhibition.
• 3 x VIP Passes to the Hong Kong exhibition Preview in
Spring 2013
• 3 x VIP passes to the Opening Ceremony of the Hong Kong exhibition in Hong Kong in Spring 2013
• 3 x VIP tickets to the collateral events at the Hong Kong exhibition in Spring 2013 (including all forums/lectures/film screenings/performances etc)

Welcome to Italy!
In addition to the best tour guide which Venice First, our
exclusive tour operator, has to offer, Marco Ardielli, a highly
respected Italian Architect and Professor at The University of
Venice, will accompany you on the 2 day Secret Venice
tour to give you in depth insight into the ‘secret’ landscape of
Venice.
Marco has been a guest speaker at several international
congresses and he organized the “International Urban Studies
days” for the Toniolo Foundation of Verona and has lectured
extensively on Urban Studies at the University of Venice.

Europa & Regina
The Westin Europa & Regina, Venice is beautifully restored
from an 18th and 19th century palace. The oldest palace
belonged to the illustrious Tiepolos, Venetian family who gave
rise to the seventeenth century painter Giambattista Tiepolo.
Europa & Regina is ideally positioned on the Grand Canal with
a private water entrance and in the heart of the city’s artistic
and theatre districts.

Discover Venice by water with light refreshments
The Grand Canal Tour is the best way to experience the
beauty and uniqueness of a city built on water. We will relax
in a luxurious motor-launch and experience the waterways of
Venice, while listening to the commentary of your expert guide.
We will cruise along the Giudecca Canal, where one can
admire the beautiful churches built by Andrea Palladio in the
16th century.

Visit the Church of San Zaccaria
The current St. Zacharias Church was built between the years
1444 and 1515 and was designed by architects Antonio
Gambello and Mauro Codussi, the latter of whom was
responsible for completing the façade. You will see Madonna
with child and saints by Giovanni Bellini, it is considered to be
one of the most important works of the Venetian Renaissance.
We will spend time inside the church to enjoy some of the
most magnificent works of Art found in Venice including works
by Tintoretto, Angelo Trevisani, Giuseppe Salviati, Giovanni
Bellini, Antonio Balestra, Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo, Palma
the Elder and Van Dyck.

The Basilica of Torcello (VII – XI sec) is a symobol of the
‘beginning’ of Venice. The Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta,
was erected in 639 and expanded in 1008, and the Virgin,
represented in the central nave in a golden mosaic from the
13th century, welcome worshippers to enter the church. The
well-known mosaic of the Last Judgement, captures the eyes
of worshipers on their way out of the Basilica of Santa Maria
Assunta and invites them to meditate. It is undoubtedly one of
the most important monuments of the “Veneto-Byzantine” art.

The Pisani family appeared on the Venetian scene during the
14th century and soon became well known for their
wealth.They had immense properties in Venice and on the
mainland, due to their commercial activities. Towards the end
of the 16th century, Alvise Pisani, left his home at Santa Maria
del Giglio and built the enormous palace next to Campo Santo
Stefano that became his home and that of his heirs; since then
they became known as “Pisani di Santo Stefano”. On the
Grand Canal the Pisani bought the smaller and older palace in
1751, to adjoin it to their own house so that it became a wing
of Palazzo Pisani which projects onto the Grand Canal. From
then onwards it was called “Palazzetto Pisani” which is where
we will enjoy the dinner.
