LaRiche Subaru Employees Deliver Meals
Share the Love
On December 8th LaRiche Subaru employees
delivered meals to homebound seniors as part
of a campaign to promote the need for more
volunteers to help deliver meals. Director,
Robin Richter said: “We appreciate their
support. This brings attention to the need for
more community volunteers.”
This local effort is part of Meals on Wheels of
America’s annual participation in Subaru’s
national year-end Share the Love Event. For
every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from
November 19, 2015, through January 2, 2016,
Subaru will donate $250 to the purchaser’s choice of participating charity – one of which being
Meals on Wheels. By the end of this year, Subaru and its retailers will have donated more than $65
million nationally to charity through the Share the Love Event.
Local Meals on Wheels America Member programs, like WSOS Meals-on-Wheels, that partner with
Subaru retailers to raise awareness for the Share the Love Event are (continued inside cover . . . ..)

BIRTHDAY PARTY
We greeted 95 seniors for
our November Birthday Party on
Nov. 19, 2015. The atmosphere
was very festive with all the fall
colors on the tables and walls.
Mary Halbisen was at the reception desk
again. (Welcome Back). Gloria Walters was selling
50/50 raffle tickets and Mike Mehling and Carrie
from Americare were selling tickets on a set of Soup
and Sandwich Plates which was donated by Peg
Rettig. We realized at total of $46.00. Thanks Peg!
Suzy Carson was the winner of this raffle.
Mary Halbisen opened the festivities with the
pledge to the flag, and Don Runion blessed the food.
Our entertainment was “Lyme Pioneer Band”
and everyone seemed to enjoy them as they were
singing to a great majority of the songs they played.
The leader would tell interesting facts about the writer
of the song. They played 50’s & 60’s tunes. At the end
they did a tribute to the service men with 3 songs.
Since the band wore BIG cowboy hats, Bert
Martinez, our in house comedian, had to get a very
large Mexican hat and dance around. We enjoy him
and his antics.
The 50/50 raffle ticket was drawn by last
month’s winner, Marie Lewis, and it belonged to Ivan
Shaffer and the amount was $73.00.
Mary Halbisen introduced the Birthday
celebrants and the oldest were: Helen Arnold, 90,
and Robert Lewis, 90 years. The youngest was Sarah
Babione at 67 years old. The other birthdays were:
Rita Wagner, Lois Thompson, LaDonna Gyurica,
Mardelle Shively and Kathleen Haubert.
Barb Ward talked about changes in trips and
that TRIPS would be transporting seniors to several
locations free of charge. Admission and any
purchases you make will be on your own money. She
also told us of a Pleasure Trip which will be taking
place on April 8th, 2016 to Frankenmuth. Information
is in the December newsletter. The total cost of the
trip of $89.00 and is due at the time of making your
reservation.
Once again we have to say a big Thank You
to all of our volunteers. They do a great job and we
really appreciate them!!
Mary Halbisen ended the day with her famous
Bingo. Many of the seniors stayed to enjoy this
activity. ~Submitted by: Suzy Carson
