SERVICE
AWARDS
The St. Ezekiel Moreno Service, Diwa Recoleto Service and Star of Tolentine Awards is a yearly recognition
given by the University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos Administration to its
teaching and non-teaching personnel, for years of unselfish service to the University.
01
Office of the President
To the Service Awardees:
As I send you this message of appreciation for the
dedicated and uninterrupted years of service to UNO-R,
I am reminded of a text message that I received from a
friend which read:
“Good things you have done will never be lost; and your
kind act takes root;
Every bit of love, you show will come right back to you”
This service award program conceived by the Recollect
Fathers and adopted by the UNO-R academic
community is a clear articulation of our belief that the
good things you have done were not lost and like the
Blessed Mother, we have pondered them in our hearts.
The bits of love that you rendered to our students in
the form of your committed service are now returned
to you in signs and symbols. The celebration of the
“Service Awards Night” with songs and dances in your
honor and the distribution of the plaque of appreciation
proclaiming the years of service you have rendered to
the University are our simple but meaningful act of
appreciating your being with the UNO-R community for
a good number of years.

UNO-R SERVICE AWARDS 2012
There is one touching experience I want to share.
I visited a home of a retired teacher of one of our
Recoletos schools. She led me to a wall of her house
where neatly displayed were five certificates for her
ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty five and thirty years of
service. Nostalgic, she told me that when she joined
the institution. She was single, never been kissed and
never been touched. Then at sixty, she retired with five
children and a dozen of grand children. She ended by
saying that she was glad to receive those awards. To her,
they serve as a reminder of her children, how much she
dedicated her life in service of education.
As you receive your much-deserved awards, I pray
that you treasure them, the celebration and all that are
contained in them. May your tribes increase.
Congratulations!
FR. EMETERIO D. BUNAO, OAR
University President
Human Resource Management Office

to UNO-R. You are co-facilitators in transmitting the faith and
discipleship of Jesus Christ and the knowledge of truth. You are

liberty needed to choose the good and handing of Augustinian
culture needed for the growth of our students and society.
To the Tolentine Star Awardees, our unending gratitude for your
long service in the promotion of the total and integral formation
of our students and academic community. Our University Week

part of UNO-R in every achievement our University and our

I feel sad leaving UNO-R after 15 fruitful years. I have
considered this University as my second home with my
colleagues as my second family. It is in this institution
where I have grown spiritually. I shall reminisce with
fondness my experiences which have made me a better
person. In my heart, I will always cherish the memories
I have shared with my second family. I shall be forever
grateful to the Recollect Fathers for the opportunity of
working in this prestigious university.

UNO-R SERVICE AWARDS 2012
The best time of my life started when I set foot in this
university in November of school year 1976-1977.
Seeing my students succeed in their chosen field makes
me feel fulfilled as a teacher. I would like to thank the
UNO-R administrators for giving me a chance to serve
the university for 35 long years. I will always cherish the
happy moments I have shared with my students and my
colleagues. Most of all, I thank God for all the blessings
He has given me.

Thirty-five Years of Service
13
Three decades and five years ago, equipped with a college degree, which I
earned from this institution, nurtured and developed by Marian-inspired,
Christian education, I embarked in a journey to fulfill my infant dream of
finding a mission and reach my destination.
I shared my God-given talents of imparting knowledge which I believe,
is the noblest profession. Many times I was tempted to the lure of finding
greener pastures, but as days, weeks, months and years went by, I noticed
that the grass in this institution, I considered my second home, became
greener and greener every day.
I had a feeling that I was in Abraham’s bosom, feeling comfortable, happy
and contented, unmindful of material gains and worldly possessions.
What is important is, I had developed the value of sharing and
contentment, firmly believing in the Prayer of King Solomon, invoking
the greatest legacy in the name of service.
“Lord, we pass this world but once, so Lord, if there is anything good that
I can do, or anything nice that I can show, give me the strength and the
privilege to do it now, for I shall not pass this way again.”

Stress, tears, laughter, and excitement are along my
journey through my 30 years of honest and unselfish
service here in this institution. It is awesome to think that
through my dedication to my work being an employee of
this institution and with the financial and moral support
of my loving and understanding husband we were able to
send our children to school and raise them God-loving,
charitable- minded, humble, enthusiastic, and somebody
to be very proud of. Thank you God for the opportunity
you have given me through UNO-R. Thank you UNO-R!

UNO-R SERVICE AWARDS 2012
My career as a teacher for thirty fruitful and meaningful years had taught
me faith of my inner power and abilities and it had given me a strong
sense of worth. I believe that God has given me capability to work on a
special assignment-that is to be a teacher-with Jesus Christ, the Perfect
Teacher as my Model. HE has designated me the tasks to tap students into
their own greatness and to help them find joy and fulfillment in their stay
at UNO-Recoletos.
I have gained innumerable opportunities in UNO-R since 1971 when I
first entered the portals of this University as a Pre-Med student. I regard
UNO-R as my home..my family where I can have my private retreats
when crises and problems come.
We can all learn plenty from everyone-even those whom we think don’t
know much about us for we are each other’s students and teachers. Every
experience in my stay in this University has the capacity to nourish
myself. I have multiplied my circle of friends and have gained them who
are to me VIP’s-(Very Inspiring Persons) or PTM’s (Persons that Matters).
Indeed, my teaching stint at UNO-R has contributed valuable life lessons.

Thirty Years of Service

In my 55 years of existence in this world, more than half of it was
spent in UNO-R and so for me, UNO-R is my home. To this day,
I have spent a total of some 36 years since I started as a student in
1976 where my dreams were given a chance to be realized through
the opportunities given to me as a working student.
When I was hired as an employee in 1981, it was for me a great
privilege to be given the chance to serve the institution where I owe
my personal, professional and spiritual growth to the great extent.
Since I consider UNO-R as my home, I also consider the Grade
School faculty and staff as my second family. I will forever be
grateful to them for all the support they have extended to me and my
family especially in molding all my five children to be the best they
can be in the spirit of the Recollect tradition of caritas et scientia.
All these, I lift up to God, for the chances and opportunities He
blessed me with and for making me what I am now. Salamat gid nga
madamo sa inyo tanan!

Through the years… God has been good and faithful. Though I’ve
been through good times and bad times God never fails… God
gave me UNO-R that is always there like a big brother who cares…
Rainy days… sunny days, life is like a roller coaster but it has always
been good, so good that… I cannot find any better word or words
to describe my feelings that the three decades of stay in UNO-R has
brought me than by saying… thank you, thank you and thank you
so much and God Bless.

I find myself extremely honored to be receiving such an
important award for reaching three decades of service
to my Alma Mater, UNO-R. I am earnestly grateful for
the recognition I have received for my work. This award
could not be achieved without the inspiration I have
received from my colleagues, family and friends, whom
I have deep respect and our Lord Almighty from whom
I derived the strength to challenge myself and perform
better at each stage.
I sincerely thank you for the three decades of shared
experience. God Bless Us All!

UNO-R SERVICE AWARDS 2012
Serving the University is both an opportunity and a blessing.
For 25 years, UNO-R has been my second home where I feel I belong
to a big happy family. The bulk of seemingly difficult tasks, the
extended hours of work and the challenges I had encountered were
all surpassed by the valuable lessons learned and the happiness I had
experienced through the years.
For this, I would like to thank the past and present UNO-R
Administrators and the entire UNO-R community especially all the
VP’s for Student Welfare, all the DSA’s and student assistants I have
worked with, for allowing me to grow mature in mind and spirit
while staying young at heart. I thank them all for their patience, love
and all out support, and for making work lighter and more enjoyable.
Above all, I thank the Lord for everything and I pray that UNO-R
will continue to prosper and remain a blessing to future generations.

I would like to thank the LORD for everything that He has done
for me. I was a working student for four years assigned in the
Chief Librarian’s Office from May 1983 – March 31, 1987. I gained
so much knowledge in dealing with people, how to handle work
under pressure and how to be a responsible person in whatever task
assigned to me.
It is a great honor and pride to work for my ALMA MATER,
UNO-R. I experienced so much joys, pains, trials, challenges,
changes and many adjustments towards work ,co-workers and
different bosses. To all my bosses, most especially to Mrs.
Arabella M. Ananoria who was my first boss, Mrs. Lita B. Cueva,
Engr. Owen Martir, Bro. Jaazeal D, Jakosalem, OAR, Mr. Alvin
Mananquil and my present boss Mr. Mariano D. Antenor. For
all the support, understanding, trust and care for me and also to
my family, for making me strong, in spite of the many trials and
hardships in life. To the Recollect Priests especially to the new
President Rev. Fr. Emeterio D. Buñao,OAR, co-workers, READS
scholars and true friends.
