If you’re planning renovations or building your new home from
scratch, there are certain components to your property that need
careful consideration right at the very start. While you should be
looking at functional elements, a wet room for those post-beach
showers for example, you should also be thinking about the added
extras that will make your home your very own piece of paradise.
Wine lovers for example, will delight in a purpose-built wine cellar.
Digging under ground is not a small job but if executed right at the
very beginning of renovations, it can be trouble-free. Underground is
ideal — it’s the best way to control the temperature without having to
use air conditioning which can dry the air and affect the wine. Digging
down can throw up some problems. The ground in Mallorca is full
of rock. If you can dig, the next issue is the water level beneath your
property, make sure it is low enough so there is no threat of flooding.
The underground cellar of choice is the spiral staircase circling
underground with walls lined with shelves for your bottles. This can
be a tidy and somewhat fun option, but if you intend to use your cellar
as a showcase at dinner parties, build a room that can accommodate
a dining table and chairs. The planning of wines, think top shelf
or eye-level shelf, reachable daily bottles or out-of-reach specials, is
something to consider at a later date. Just make sure your cellar will be
big enough.

structural element that needs planning in the early stages. If you want
a gym with all the exercise equipment, then downstairs on ground level
