POOR MAN’s
DOWNHILL
(See map on page 16)
The most recent addition
to the riding options in the
Whiteface Region is a shuttle
run, affectionately known
as “Poor Man’s Downhill.”
The smooth tread in this
directional trail makes it
appropriate for any fat tire
bike. Look for the town of
Wilmington to offer shuttle
service at a minimal cost every
other weekend throughout
the 2016 season.
2016 Shuttle Schedule:

2016 EVENTS
WHITEFACE SKY RACES • JULY 9 - 10
FESTIVAL OF COLORS • SEPTEMBER 10
Whiteface boasts more true vertical gain than all but 14 other ski resorts in
North America. So why not run straight up it?
Join us for this hometown autumn festival held in the center of Wilmington.
IRONMAN LAKE PLACID • JULY 24
Centered amidst the beauty of the Adirondack region, the Lake Placid
Ironman course presents challenging sections on the swimming, biking, and
running courses that will give any competitor a workout to remember.
WHITEFACE MOUNTAIN OKTOBERFEST • OCTOBER 1 - 2
Once a year, Whiteface dusts off its lederhosen, fires up the oompah band,
and enjoys a tall mug of German beer. Oktoberfest is a weekend-long
celebration of Bavarian culture, with authentic music, dancing, food, and
beer.
PEAK TO BREW RELAY RACE • AUGUST 12
Are you looking for a challenge beyond the typical road race and an event

THE AUSABLE RIVER
It’s the diversity of the river that
allures many anglers to explore the
West Branch of the Ausable. What
stands out the most about the West
Branch is the large amount of pocket
water. Adirondack fishermen and
women will tell you that’s where the
best trout live.
rocks and boulders, which provide
plenty of hiding places, food, and
resting spots. The oxygen and shade
from the tree cover help the survival
of the fish during the warmer months.
The river also harbors slower sections
that are deep with undercut banks
just waiting for your fly to drop in.
The river carries a vast amount of
oxygen from water tumbling over the
