The Conference was held in Kraków May 23, 2014 at the Jagiellonian University in the beautiful
Collegium Novum assembly hall. The event was held under the honorary patronage of the
Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany who opened the conference, and under the
patronage of the German-Polish Chamber of Commerce, Wolters Kluwer and IBFD. The
conference was co-organized by the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, law firms K&L Gates,
Wardyński & Partners and Crido Taxand.
The meeting was focused on issues important for professionals dealing with tax problems
involving trans-border operations in Poland and Germany. Panels included regulatory and legal
aspects of tax systems in both countries, anti-avoidance measures, transfer pricing, taxation of
businesses including taxation of partnerships, tax transparency, taxation of corporations, as well
as financing of inbound investments in Poland. The conference was specifically tailored to
address questions of keen interest to businesses, corporations, in-house counsel and those
involved in tax issues. A forum was provided for discussing related hot topics and challenges.

After a very interesting and vibrant discussion in the first part of the conference, partcipants
continued their conversations over lunch. The discussion showed the need to have a platform for
meetings focused on tax problems involving trans-border operations in Poland and Germany.
After the conference we received many messages of thanks and most attendees declared an
interest in the next meeting.
