*IMPORANT INFORMATION REGARDING CHARACTER ASSIGNMENTS:
Assign your most definite RSVPs and outgoing guests to the required characters and the more tentative,
shy/reserved guests for the optional characters. To figure out who will be a ‘definite RSVP’, it is highly
suggested to send a ‘save the date’ email out to your prospective guests way in advance of the party date so
you can either eliminate those guests from your list who can’t make it (and therefore you will not assign them to
a character) or you can change your party date if enough required-character guests simply cannot make it. It’s
suggested to invite more than the required number of players as any of the ‘required’ guests could cancel at
the last minute and leave you high & dry. You can play as many optional players as you wish and in any
combination that you choose. The optional players have the same materials and same participation level, but
these optional characters are not ‘mandatory’ for the storyline to play out and therefore for the mystery to be
sleuthed appropriately.
What happens if one of your required characters cancels on you at the last minute? First, take a deep breath…it’s
not the end of the world.

HOST DIRECTIVES
Get ready for an awesome costume party with your purchase of the thanksgiving thievery game from
MyMysteryParty.com! This party is an entertaining and comical mystery where the players act the roles of
hilarious personalities while sleuthing the intriguing story line. This is an excellent choice for your next get
together during the Thanksgiving holiday season.
The story is set in the Cranberry home, so you can host it at any location such as a home living room,
backyard (weather permitting), castle, hotel ballroom, hotel suite, recreation center room, etc. The party can be
set in any space—all you need is a touch of Thanksgiving décor (i.e. lighting, pumpkins, and cornucopia.) and
voila—you’re ready to go!
The party pack (this document) needs to be printed in advance of the party. Cut out the clues and slip them
into envelopes labeled with the appropriate round and character for each round of the party. It is optimal to
choose different colored envelopes for each round. We offer envelope packs with four different colors for sale
on the My Mystery Party website in the Party Props section ( Prop Emporium). A more economical method is
to scroll the clue cards and secure with a ribbon—we show you how to do this on our How to Host video:
http://www.mymysteryparty.com/howtohovi.html
Make sure to read these host instructions for each round prior to the party to ensure you have everything in
place for the big day! Please note - the host instructions for each round do not disclose who the thief is, but do
not read nor even look at (because you may read by accident) the Round Three cards if you want to keep the
thief a surprise. Have someone else prepare round two and three if you absolutely don’t want to know who the
thief is, or for another solution to this…..see below….
UPGRADE TO A PARTY READY PACK: For a complete surprise, you can elect to upgrade this download to
the pre-printed ‘party ready’ party pack option from the MyMysteryParty.com site. The upgrade is located in our
side navigation bar and says ‘upgrade your download to a boxed set.’ This option will include the clues in
labeled envelopes and the rest of prepared game documents –‘ready to go’ (this is an additional charge since
we utilize our paper, ink, envelopes, labor, etc.). This upgrade removes the original price of the download and
Copyright © mymysteryparty.com
Page 5
charges you the difference between the party ready pack and download version of the game. For example, if
the Party Ready Pack is $125, and you have already purchased the download for $30, the upgrade would cost
$95—thereby removing the price you have already paid for the game. Let our staff take care of preparing this
kit for you – you’ll be glad you did!
OPTIONAL PROPS: We also offer mystery props on the My Mystery Party site in the Prop Emporium
including authentic crime scene barrier tape, crime scene balloons, Bic mystery investigation pens, crime
scene balloons, envelopes, etc. These are all optional but are fun enhancements to your night/day of mystery.
During the party, your job as the host is to ensure that the envelopes are given to the guests at the appropriate
times and most of all—you and your guests are having a blast!
This mystery comes with 16 written characters. Only 8 of these characters are required with the other 8 being
optional characters. If you do not have guests for these 8 characters, simply omit the clue cards of these
guests.

THE GAME IS ORGANIZED INTO FOUR ROUNDS AND IS STRUCTURED AS FOLLOWS:
OPTIONAL PRE-GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS: these optional pre-game announcements are to be delivered to each
guest before the party or give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game materials are optional and do not
alter the mystery and are intended to enhance the pre-game build up for the event. These announcements are
not vital to solving the mystery and omission of them does not alter the mystery in any way.
ROUND ONE: Deliver these clues as your guests arrive. You can serve appetizers and cocktails for adults.
ROUND TWO: Deliver these clues while you serve dinner (optional) to your guests.
SOLUTION ROUND THREE: Deliver these clues with coffee/hot cocoa and dessert (again, it’s optional to serve
dessert)
Note: you do NOT have to serve dinner/dessert, this is only suggested and the instructions tell you ‘when’ to
serve it and what to do around the time you serve it. You can simply skip both without a problem and just serve
snacks/appetizers the entire time. However, please don’t have a party without offering some type of food—
even if it’s just snacks. Hungry guests are unhappy guests!

INVITING GUESTS: Before the party, encourage your guests to view the Your Mystery Party —
YourMysteryParty.com/turkey guest website or use the free printable My Mystery Party invitations as they
have the character descriptions included. This way, before the party, they can get familiar with the other
characters that will be at the party, watch the game trailer, and more! There are also hidden/subtle hints about
characters throughout the page so those guests who choose to be ‘super sleuths’ can spend some time
studying the Your Mystery Party site prior to the party.
We also sell printed invitations with gold, metallic envelopes on our site.
These can be located in the
prop emporium on the MyMysteryParty.com site.
If you are using an expansion pack, you’ll need to go to the Your Mystery Party site appropriate for your game,
as these pages will include the expansion pack players. These site addresses are given to you in the
expansion pack files.

The free, downloadable invitations are located on the item page where you first purchased this game. Scroll to
the bottom of the page and click on the link that says ‘free, downloadable invitation’ to download the pdf file. Fill
in your information in the text fields and either print or save to your hard drive. You can email these invites to
your guests to save paper costs. You will need to enter your information in the text field and save one on your
hard drive for each player, changing the character to be played on each invitation. Alternatively, either email
this link or use any eVite site and simply include the link to the Your Mystery Party guest invite site at
YourMysteryParty.com/turkey. There are no spoilers on this page for your guests.

Round one – it’s party time
DÉCOR: Create a festive Thanksgiving atmosphere with beautiful fall leaves on the table, pumpkins,
cornucopias, and LED candles. Also, take a look at our Pinterest Page (MyMysteryParty) for some DIY
options.
GUEST ARRIVAL: Appetizers can be served (optional-cocktails for legal-aged adults). The guests’ instructions
and the character descriptions should be available for the guests to review. You can formally go over the
instructions once everyone arrives. As an alternative, creatively display the clue-containing envelopes on a
table for the guests to locate their own character names but don’t allow them to take clue cards from future
rounds! Don’t forget to take both individual pictures of your guests and a group picture once everyone arrives they’ll all want copies of these! A great party souvenir is to print these pictures during the party on photo paper
and slip into creatively designed frames (you can make them out of cardboard or purchase actual frames).
BONUS ACTIVITIES: at any time during your party, you can insert a bonus activity (see bonus activity
instructions for more details). You can play before, during or after any round. The key to keeping the mystery
momentum is to tell the guests to remain in their character at all times. Breaking character will disrupt the
flow of the mystery game’s story line, so it is very important. Bonus activities provide a temporary distraction
and keep the energy level high and excitement flowing. Even if you think your guests aren’t the party game
types, you should at least try to play one—you’ll be surprised how much they get into it and have a blast.

Round two: DINNER IS SERVED…OR IS IT?
PRE-ROUND TWO: You can serve dinner (dinner is optional). You can simply take a break and eat dinner but
tell your guests to remain in character! They are allowed to mingle / talk about things during this time, but since
each will likely sit with a subsection of the group, it will be limiting – and that is all right – you’ll give time for
everybody to mingle once the official round begins. You can pass out their clue cards before/after dinner – it
won’t make a difference. Pair your guests into teams of 2-3. Facilitate the ‘Mystery Scramble’ game. After
about 10 minutes, take up the ‘Mystery Scramble’ Guess Sheets from your guests and score them using the
‘Mystery Scramble’ Answer Key *Note, if you are not going to play the mystery scramble – you’ll need to cue
the guest who is to make the announcement of the crime – find out who this player is by reading the round two
cards and cue them about 15 minutes after the round begins.

HELPFUL HINTS ON HOW TO PLAY A MYSTERY PARTY
GUEST INSTRUCTIONS
You’ve been assigned a character, and you’ve come to the party dressed in the most
awesome costume and have been told to play your role. Now, what?
The mystery is separated into three main rounds of party play. During the party, you will
receive an envelope that contains the clues necessary for your character for the round. The
clues for the characters at the party provide everything that you need to solve the mystery.
However, during the investigation segment of the game, you will need to ask the right
questions and pay close attention to everyone’s clues to get the whole picture of what has
happened.
FULL INSTRUCTIONS IN THE
PURCHASED GAME
feel you are the guilty party by the end of Round Two – by all means, accuse yourself!
From this point forward, you are to remain in character until the mystery is solved. If you are
playing an obnoxious horse groomer riddled with scandals—that is who you are until the end!
Undoubtedly, your host cast you into a character that you are comfortable playing. Some
characters are designed to be played more reserved than other characters. Feel free to play
your role in any manner that you feel comfortable. Embellish your character’s personality if
you would like. However, if you are feeling more reserved tonight, you can opt to allow the
other guests to approach you, or you can simply listen in on others’ conversations to get your
information.

OPTIONAL PRE-GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS

way. However, it does lead to pre-game build up and excitement! Cut the announcements and slip them into
envelopes and send about 1 week prior to the party.

CLUES TO REVEAL DURING THIS ROUND
During this round, mingle with the other guests to discuss the following with whomever you choose:
Tell everyone that you don’t eat any kind of meat. Say that you don’t use any kind of animal products either.
Tell Morgan that you noticed the Chef brought in nearly a truckload of items to the house! Say that the Chef must
think there is way more people over here than there is. You could swear that there was more than one turkey that
was unloaded!
Tell a few people that ‘turkeys are our friends…not our food.”
Ask Luminol Peaknuckle if s/he hates all meat or just turkey. Say you’d be glad to go and eat Chinese food because

DR. ISAAC ALBERT – ROUND TWO
DINNER IS ALMOST SERVED!
PRE-CRIME:
Tell everyone that you could do much more good by taking the molecular gastronomy cooked turkey back to your lab
and doing some valuable research on it. Say that you could never cook one yourself but you could figure out the
molecular structure of the bird after it was cooked by those methods and you know you could reverse engineer an
even better method of cooking the turkey!
Say that the Chef could probably whip up a nice roasted chicken or some tuna casserole pretty quickly if everyone
would agree to skip Tom Turkey.
POST-CRIME:
You are certain that Morgan Cranberry didn’t go back into the kitchen after the crash.
If someone wanted to postpone dinner…stealing the main course would do the trick.
Sherlock confided in you about how he’d want to hide the turkey in his sister’s suitcase to blame it on her and get
revenge on her. You went and checked her suitcase and it’s not there.
PERSONAL INFORMATION: (This information can be concealed from the other guests.)
