These students were selected from 10,000 young artists who applied for this most prestigious honor and full college tuition. • 2011-2013 – Milo Talwani selected as one of four young composers who will be mentored and have their works performed by the LA Phil. • 2009-2011 – Aaron Ishibashi’s composition, “Through These Trials” and “The Fortress” were performed at Disney Hall by the LA Phil as a part of their Composer Fellowship Program. National Grammy Jazz Combo • 2013 – Adrian Cota, drummer (pictured to right) Jazz Band of America/Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana • 2012 – Jasper Dutz, Kalia Vandever and Max Lesser selected as members of the 2012 Jazz Band of America Berklee High School Jazz Festival in Boston • 2011 – For the second year running, LACHSA’s Combo G, under the direction of jazz faculty Jason Goldman has been named 1st place winners. Saxophonist Jasper Dutz received the Judge’s Choice Award. Outstanding instrumentalist honors went to pianist Jeremy Corren and saxophonist Jacob Shulman, Drummer Lukas Frank was named the Superior Instrumentalist at the festival. Oklahoma City University’s Project 21 Prize for Music Composition • 2012 - The winning composition, “Eleven,” selected from dozens of submissions from high school composers from around the nation, was written by Dallas Howard.
