French Country Guest Bedroom Redesign - romantic French-country Designer Jona Collins describes the high-end room she created as a very romantic French-country atmosphere reminiscent of French Provincial. The key to this exquisite design is luxury bedding, antiques and toile fabric. Toile has always been equated with casual elegance and this large vivid pattern sports a very elegant scene. The Double Take team – makeover designer Michele Addey, budget shopper Halili Knox and carpenter Jamie Schmitt take on the job of giving the homeowners the rich look they want for a whole lot less. 2.French Country Guest Bedroom Redesign – Relax and Welcome Other Language » Homeowners Steve and Jenna Peliez just moved into their new home. They’re expecting house guests soon, but they have no furniture in their guest bedroom. They want to create a room that is warm and inviting – something that will make their guests feel relaxed and welcomed. The look they want is luxurious French country, a calm and soothing setting filled with lush fabrics and traditional antiques. While paging through a magazine the homeowners found that exact look, but the problem is, the high-end designer bedroom in the magazine costs over $38,000 – can they get the same look on a budget of $3,100? 3. French Country Guest Bedroom Redesign – elegance and comfort The Double Take team did a fantastic job duplicating the elegance and comfort of the designer room. The homeowners couldn’t be happier. They feel it is even better then the original;; they know their guests will feel as if they are staying at an upscale bed and breakfast.Makeover Room Resources toile fabric – Sal Beressi Fabrics crown molding – Cheap Petes side tables – Fenton MacLaren LTD lamps – Bed Bath and Beyond clock – Pottery Barn red vase and glass vase – Pier 1 floral arrangments – Flowermart curtain hardware– Bed Bath and Beyond pillow shams and duvet cover – Z Gallerie material for throw pillows – Bed Bath and Beyond, Beverly Fabrics, and Discount Fabrics bed frame – Furniture and More cashmere throw on bench – Z Gallerie tea service – San Francisco Antique & Design Mall silver tray on side table – Pottery Barn 4. French Country Guest Bedroom Redesign – four-poster bed The four-poster bed in the designer room has simple and clean lines. A bed frame found at a secondhand store is trimmed down to remove its decorative elements so it will also have clean, simple lines. Posts are added and the whole piece is painted black. The toile curtains in the inspiration room cost $14,000. Halili found a fabric with a similar country motif in a beautiful shade of blue for an unbelievable price of $15 per yard. Eight panels were made for the bed. Each panel is 2-1/2 yards long and is held to the bed frame with clip curtain rings. Tip: If you want your curtains to look extra luxurious try adding a lining. It’s not that much more work or money, but it does add weight and body. 5. French Country Guest Bedroom Redesign – French oak cabriole-leg side tables sit In the inspiration room, two 19th-century, French oak cabriole-leg side tables sit on each side of the bed. Michele found these great reproduction tables at a bargain price;; they are similar in scale and color and have the same Provencal style. Tip: When searching for antique reproduction furniture look for quality first. A good way to check is look at the backside of the piece to make sure it is not constructed of particleboard. 6. French Country Guest Bedroom Redesign – windows with toile Roman shades There are windows with toile Roman shades on each side of the bed in the designer room. Our room didn’t have windows on the sides of the bed, so to mimic the inspiration room, toile fabric was framed with thick white molding similar to the window trim in the designer room. 7. French Country Guest Bedroom Redesign – rocking chair Jamie and the homeowner built a wonderful rendition of the unique eight-legged bench. The pre-cut cabriole legs are fastened to the bench frame using biscuits and joinery so there won’t be any unsightly nail holes. After the piece is stained, padding and fabric are added to the seat. 10. French Country Guest Bedroom Redesign – tea service The graceful tea service in the designer room is comprised of sterling silver, high-quality crystal and fine china. The tea service in the makeover room combines quality Victorian-style pieces to fit in perfectly with the traditional style of the room. Tip: If you can afford to buy sterling silver make sure it is authentic. Look for the word “Sterling” or the numbers “925″ or “800″ engraved into the piece. 11.
