Twenty-five years after the first 4-track
cassette tape Portastudio comes the incredible 2488. It’s by far the most affordable 24track recording and mixing workstation ever
made for home studios — and the only
model within three times its price range
that can truly do 24 tracks of 24-bit 44.1kHz recording.
Eight inputs can be simultaneously recorded into the XLR
and W" inputs. Twenty physical faders control the mixdown
channels; each channel has 3-band EQ and access to three
built-in effects processors.
A large internal hard disk gives the user ample space for
multiple 24-track songs and virtual tracks for comping. Plus
the 2488 has a USB 2.0 port for back-up via home computer.
The 2488’s Standard MIDI player and General MIDI sound
module provide an additional stereo sound source for fuller
arrangements.
Complete waveform editing including cut/copy/paste/loop
gives the user DAW-like flexibility for building that next hit
recording.
And for the final mix, the built-in CD-RW drive can turn
your 2-track master mixdown into a Red Book CD, or use it to
back up the hard drive or import and export WAV files.

control surface for what it’s good at: hands-on mixing
with lots of real faders, knobs & buttons.
The TASCAM US-2400 is the first DAW fader controller with
enough faders to handle a typical recording session — and feel
like a real mixing console — without lots of bank switching.
The US-2400 features 24 touch-sensitive moving channel
faders and a touch-sensitive motorized master fader, each with
10-bit resolution for precise level control.
Each channel has dedicated select, solo and mute controls.
Twenty-four rotary encoders are provided, selectable to control
pan or up to 8 aux sends. Plus all 24 encoders can also be
employed as one large channel strip for four-band EQ, aux and
pan control. Each encoder has a ring of LEDs that can display
the current setting or double as channel meters during recording and playback.
A set of solid-feeling transport buttons are also provided, as
well as a shuttle wheel and a joystick for surround panning.
Compare it to any other controller on the market today (and
the extra expanders you’d have to buy to get 24 motorized
faders) and you’ll discover that the US-2400 gives you more for

Magic.” It retrofits onto the edge of just
about any standard DJ turntable to control
the CD-X1500 and CD-X1700 CD players.
The compact, durable TT-M1 requires no
additional special audio hook-ups, no
computer, and no special vinyl records — you
may even scratch with your turntable’s
slipmat if you like!
Once fitted to your turntable (you can
still use your tone arm),
the new TT-M1 lets you
