WANDO HIGH SCHOOL 2016-2017 SCHOOL PROFILE 1000 Warrior Way, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina 29466 THE SCHOOL Wando High School with an enrollment of more than 4,000 students is located on a 100 acre campus in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Administration Principal Sherry Eppelsheimer Associate Principal Cheryl Swinton Wando High School serves students in grades 9 - 12 with a comprehensive academic program offering more than 250 courses. The student population is approximately 81% White, 13% African-American, 3% Hispanic, 1% Asian and 2% other. • More than 90% of the 2016 graduating class planned to attend four-year colleges/ universities, two-year colleges or technical colleges. • 945 completer cords were worn the 2015-2016 recipient of the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association Director’s Cup for Class AAAA for the second straight year. by the Class of 2016 at graduation. • Five state championships were were awarded over 25 million dollars in scholarships. Jeremy Jourdan $24,000 Teaching Fellows Scholarships. Tristan Robinson • Wando High School operates on a 4 X 4 modified block schedule which enables students to earn up to eight credits per year. Assistant Administrators Steve Legette Jimmy Noonan were named to All-Region teams. • Eighty-nine senior athletes were named Scholar Athletes by the South Carolina High School League. There were 64 Early Awards recipients for the South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship. • To graduate from high school requires earning 24 course credits. Wando seniors earned an average of 31 credits. • For the tenth time in 11 years, the Wando Marching Band took home first place in the South Carolina State Championship. • The Wando High School ROTC unit was named a Distinguished Unit. The Color Guard was State Champion and placed fifth in the National Championships. The Drill Team finished third in the National Championships. dual credit college courses with a passage rate of 91%.
