MSJFL League Best & Fairest Night
Tonight at Kingston Town Hall the Moorabbin Saints Junior Football League held their
inaugural Presentation Night in front of 500 people representing the 27 member clubs.
The club was well represented with 4 boys being nominated as in the best three players in
their respective divisions which in itself is a fantastic achievement.
Ashley Krakauer won the U13 East (Top Division) Best & Fairest award which means
Ash is arguably the best player amongst all his peers across the southern region. Well
done Ashley.
Harrison Braun was announced runner up in the U14 Division 4 competition which is well
deserved result for Harrison and he can be extremely proud of his contribution to the U14
Jets this season in getting them to a Preliminary final.
Nick Lewis was 3rd in the U16 Division 1 competition which also was a great result as our
U16s won only a handful of games so Nick’s work in the mid field earnt him high praise
from the men in white.
Mende Mochkin had an outstanding season in the U17s and was awarded best and fairest
amongst his U17s peers across 15 teams. Mende won by 6 votes which is an
unbelievable result as he was up against several players who have already been selected
in TAC lists for Sandringham Dragons and Oakleigh Chargers. Well done Mende on an
outstanding season.
This was a fantastic night for the club and all four boys are to be commended on their
outstanding efforts and we wish them all a hearty mazel tov.

Seniors
The senior football club had a massive win last Saturday at the Beach Oval against
Old Camberwell winning by 119 points and moving into the Premier C Section grand
final against Werribee this Saturday at 2.00pm. The reserves are also in the grand final
and play Ormond in their season decider at 11.30am.
We would love all AJAX Junior Football Club supporters to attend and ask for all players
who played this year to wear their AJAX jumpers which would be fantastic support for
the senior club. The senior club is also having a grand final breakfast at Sandringham
from 9am and details can be found on the senior website at www.ajaxfc.com.au.
Please also note that the VAFA charge an entry fee of $12.00 for adults and $6.00 for
children to enter on Saturday and parking around the ground will be at a premium.

PRELIMINARY FINAL
JACKAS STORM INTO B GRADE
Ajax have secured a position in
Premier B Grade for the 2012
season, as well as booking a spot
in this week’s grand final against
Werribee at Trevor Barker Oval
on Saturday. The Jackas made
easy work of Old Camberwell on
the weekend, dominating from
the first bounce to win 28.16.184
to 10.5.65.
With everything on the line in
their do-or-die clash against Old
Camberwell, the Jackas came out
firing in the first term, slotting
eight goals to two. From there on
it was all precision for Ajax, who
had the game over at half time
with an 82 point lead. Jake Lew
was the standout of the day as he
kicked nine, with David Fayman
and Warren Steinberg adding
three each. Before Steinberg went
forward in the second half, he
was dominant out of defence,
along with Rubin Winograd and
Nick Marks, and Marcus Jankie
was courageous all day in the
midfield.
Youngster Adam Caplan started
the flurry with a clever rove and

snap for the first major of the
day; however, it was Lew who
started like a house on fire, as he
kicked four for the quarter in an
incredible display. Fayman not
only kicked two majors himself,
but also assisted Lew with two of
his, and Marcus Jankie had close
to 10 possessions for the quarter,
which included numerous
clearances and inside 50s.
Routman also got the crowd fired
up with an exciting goal as he
danced around his opponent, and
at the first break the Jackas led
by six goals.
Coach Bernie Sheehy
commended his team’s effort at
the quarter time huddle, but still
wanted them to “keep going in
hard at the ball and laying those
tackles”.
The second term was no different
to the first, as the Jackas slotted
the first four goals through Lew
(2), Winograd and Ari Lewski.
The Jackas had all the play with
their dominance in the midfield,
and the composure that was
lacking in the first week of finals,
was evident in not only the
second quarter, but throughout
the whole game. Old Camberwell
got a goal against the run of play,
but it counted for nothing as
Jarrod White, Fayman and Marks
slotted the next three of the term
to take the margin out to over 13
goals at the main break.
Sheehy acknowledged that his
team did “all the right the things”
in the first two terms, and urged
them to “go out with the same
energy as the first half”.
Old Camberwell came out with a
bit of fight in the second half, as
they started the term kicking
three goals to AJAX courtesy of
Ari Lewski’s one. Yet, the Jackas
continued their domination,
slotting the next four of the
quarter, as Jason Israelson hit a
five minute purple patch with
two goals within minutes, and
Marks and Lew added the other
two majors. Even though Old
Camberwell managed to kick the
last of the term, the Jackas still
had a commanding 14 goal lead
at the final break.
At three quarter time, Sheehy
merely told his men to continue
their good form, and “go long
and direct to the forwards”.
After Old Camberwell kicked the
first of the last term, Steinberg
stepped up to kick three goals for
the quarter, and despite
conceding another two, the
Jackas were still able to blow the
final margin out to 119 points.
Daniel Freed and White kicked
truly, as the Jackas ran away with
a convincing victory that will no
doubt give them great confidence
going into this week’s grand
final.
Sheehy recognized the efforts of
a number of players including
M.Jankie, Lew and Steinberg,
and put the win down to being
“much stronger around the
contests and running the ball well
across the field”.
Now with a huge task ahead of
them at the same venue on
Saturday, the Jackas will have the
opportunity to win both the
seniors and reserves
premierships, in what would be a
terrific achievement by the club.
A big crowd is expected for the
massive double-header, and
hopefully the support from the
Jackas faithful will get both sides
over the line.
