Mille Lacs Polar Plungers Raise More Than $42,000
This past weekend the fifth annual Lake Mille Lacs Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota was held at Eddy’s
Resort. Given the unseasonable weather and ice conditions, organizers were still able to get more than 250 plungers through.
On March 4, Joe Nayquonabe and Tracy Sam also braved the waters of Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis for the Executive
Challenge. Grand Casino was the major sponsor of this event which involved other top executives in the state taking the
plunge. In total, this event raised more than $200,000 this year.
This year’s involvement reached new heights. Below are the details of what Grand Casino’s sponsorship brought the
organization this year:
•
•
•
•
$42,000 – raised by plungers and donors at the Mille Lacs Plunge
$3,427 – raised by Grand Casino and MLCV Associates during the popular Denim Days promotion
$10,000 – donated by MLCV
$5,373 – raised by Joe Nayquonabe and Tracy Sam to bring to the Executive Plunge
In total, Grand Casino Mille Lacs’ sponsorship and MLCV’s involvement raised $60,800 for the organization.
Since the first Mille Lacs plunge in 2012, more than $223,000 has been raised from this plunge alone with nearly 1,200
people plunging into Mille Lacs Lake – all for a great cause.
Other Polar Plunge events throughout the week included Team Concotions wing sale in the former Woodlands Restaurant
and the Too Chicken to Plunge at Eddy's. The F&B team would like to thank everyone for their support. Miigwech to all of
the plungers who raised money, to all the supporters who donated money and for the help of local law enforcement (Mille
Lacs Band Tribal Police, Mille Lacs Band DNR, Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s department, Mille Lacs County Search and
Rescue, and Mille Lacs Health System Ambulance).

ASSOCIATE NEWS
Parking Lot Etiquette
Use Turn Signals
Parking lots are not free reign when it comes to obeying traffic laws.
Blinkers should be used to show others the intended direction of your
vehicle no matter where you are. If you want to pull into an empty
spot, but there are cars behind you, put on your blinker. Not only does
it give direction as to where you want to go, but it also lets the people
behind you know what your intentions are, as well as any pedestrians
walking in the area.
Park Courteously
I think we’ve all been there when we leave the house a little later
than we wanted to and racing to the time clock becomes a challenge. This is the top reason we have issues with parking.
Plan ahead, be on time, and don’t rush into work. If you question whether or not you parked ok, chances are you didn’t. Take
the time to pull back and straighten out your vehicle. We’ve all seen drivers who have parked that should have been more
aware of the space they pulled into. Park in the center of the space to allow cars on both sides to park, and the drivers to get
out of their cars safely. We ask that you be aware of your vehicle and your
surroundings, and be respectful to your fellow Associates when parking.
Obey Speed Limits
Reminder! Slow down! The same rules apply in the parking lot as they do
on the roads. Most large parking lots have posted speed limit signs, but if
there isn’t one posted (like ours), keep it to 10 mph, maximum. Parking lots
are full of pedestrians and you should be on full alert no matter where you
are. Slow down and be aware of the many hazards of the parking lot to
reduce the risk of an accident.
Accidents
Again, please be respectful to your fellow Associates. If you cause damage to another vehicle for any reason (even if it’s a door
ding), do the right thing, and please report it to Security. Have your insurance information ready for them to record and/or
exchange that information with the other Associate if they are present. The laws do apply to our parking lot when it comes to
leaving a scene of an accident and remember, there are cameras out there!

Associate Gaming Notification
As you are likely aware, changes were made to Grand Casino policy allowing Associates to sign up for a Player’s Card.
Recently, Associates who have signed up for a Player’s Card were incorrectly sent notification of receiving virtual drawing
entries into the Payback Drawing scheduled for Thursday, March 31. Please disregard that notification as Associates are
prohibited from participating in public drawings and sweepstakes. Entries to the drawing will not be uploaded to Associate
accounts so as to prevent an Associate from being publicly called.
We are in the process of addressing changes to our marketing mailing process to avoid Associates receiving future offers for
which they are ineligible. In the meantime, we appreciate your understanding, and if you do receive an offer or mailing as
a Player’s Card holder we ask that you not participate in any drawing or sweepstakes promotions at Grand Casino. Also, to
clarify, Associates are not eligible to participate in pull tab promotions or cash or promotional product giveaways. There are
other HR and marketing sponsored promotions that address remaining promotional product. Notwithstanding, Associates
are eligible for point play, loyalty Gazette offers, as well as most other daily promotions, including bonus Grand Play and
kiosk promotions like Hidden Treasures.
Associates will receive mail notifications of those programs for which they have offers, as Associates will be included in the
same mail file as Guests. Offers will vary based on the average number of points earned on each gaming trip.
We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience incurred.

To Find Purpose, Look Within
Every human being is worthy, simply because she or he
If your life has an important purpose, does that make
you a more valuable human being?
A strong sense of purpose is important - in fact it is vital
to fulfilling the promise of the potential that resides in
all of us.
Lou Tice felt a strong sense of purpose was so
important that he spent a fair amount of time in his
seminars and video programs urging others to develop
a sense of purpose. The challenge is in not making the
mistake of confusing purpose with worth, as many do
who are continually looking outside themselves to feel
worthy.
exists. And because we exist, we have opportunity in
every second of every day to find and fulfill the promise
of purpose. Look within to find your purpose and look
outside for ways to express it.
A sense of purpose will help you live a more satisfying
life, but always remember that you give meaning to
what you do - what you do does not give meaning to
you.
When you determine your personal worth by your job,
career, family, social position, income or appearance,
you create a dilemma for yourself. The dilemma is
that you must constantly work for approval, love,
acceptance and control in order to feel worthy.
If you lose your job, or your children grow up and
leave home, or you retire and begin to look and feel
older, you may find yourself feeling worthless or even
depressed. You can spend a lifetime looking outside
yourself to feel worthy. The truth is, all we really need to
do is look within.
