Prof. Andrey Dakhin Volgo-Viatsky Public Administration Academy Nizhny Novgorod, Russia The Nizhny Novgorod region (province) is located almost directly in the centre of the European part of the Russian Federation, on the Western-European or Russian plain. It covers the territory of 76.6 thousand square kilometers with the population of 3411.0 thousand people that constitutes about 2.4 per cent of the total population of Russia. Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration is the central area of Nizhegorodskaia oblast and includes following cities: Nizhny Novgorod (128 3.6 thou. people), Dzerzhinsk (252.5 thou. peo ple), Kstovo (65.7 thou. people), Bor (77.7 thou. people). The total population of the agglomeration is about than 1,8 million people. There are 7 State Universities and more than 20 regional branches of Universities. Dzerzhinsk Bor Kstovo Sustainability of higher education can be provided by creation of cooperation between Universities, NGO and enterprises. During 2009-2011 years the RCE-Nizhny Novgorod includes following key participants. They are: Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Volgo-Vyatsky Public Administration Academy , Nizhny Novgorod centre of socio-economical expertise , Nizhny Novgorod regional organization of invalids “Social rehabilitation”, MEGA-IKEA Nizhny Novgorod and some branches of local authorities. This consortium has promoted several kinds of public education projects for youth and students in the field of ecology and planning of sustainable development for Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration. Target groups of this projects was kids about 4-7 years ago (youth program) and bachelors and magistrates of VVAGS and NNGASU (student program). Youth program It was collaboration project of RCE NN and IKEA NN for Kids Club of MEGA IKEA in Nizhny Novgorod. Programme goals: learning sustainable development principles, developing personal priorities of sustainable development, participating in designing sustainable development projects on a micro level. The activities were carried out in the form of environmental workshops in the Kids Club of MEGA IKEA NN. These workshops consisted of educational lessons on sustainable development. Students program. In 2009-2010 it was organized public competition of students projects "Social adaptation projects for Nizhny Novgorod sustainable development", in 2010-2011 it was public competition of students projects "Innovative projects for Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration sustainable development". During the first cycle seven project groups elaborated their ideas and the jury selected the best four projects, what have continued competition on the final step. In April 17 all finalists projects was examined by the jury and best projects was selected and it’s annotations was published in the NIC SENEX Bulletin (2). The first prize was granted to two projects: «Marketing of services for disabled persons» and “Technology incubator for disabled persons: training, job placement, career”. On the second cycle we has 10 project groups and the projects was tied with problems of location of new stadium for the World Cap in football (2018), new centers for tourists and etc. Following way of promoting of education activity in the frame of sustainable development for Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration is related with created in 2011 the City public club “new Nizhny Novgorod”. It is organized with participation of RCENN for promoting of large public discussion with topics on strategy of sustainable development of Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration. In this new frame the last practice of students project competition will be changed and correspond with topics of the major professional topics. The end. Thank you!
