Stryker 2015 Grant Report
SUPPORT OF CONTINUING EDUCATION AORN Foundation is honored to recognize Stryker as our Platinum Partner for the second year at the 2015 AORN Surgical Conference & Expo. The $250,000 grant from Stryker to support the continuing education of practicing nurses was distributed by the Foundation as professional development grants for individuals to attend the Surgical Conference & Expo in Denver, Colorado, March 7-11, 2015. The AORN Surgical Conference & Expo is the largest education symposium for perioperative nurses in the world and the largest surgical products trade show in the U.S. Presented over four days, the Conference gives nurses the opportunity to network with their peers and gain more than 100 contact hours as they learn the latest clinical practice techniques and processes for surgical patient and health care worker safety. The 2015 Conference was attended by over 4,000 nurses and nurse executives from across the U.S. and the world. Through this grant the AORN Foundation was able to award 90 scholarships to nurses to advance their professional development. The grants awarded to each applicant covered the cost of the conference registration and travel expenses, in addition to a one-year AORN membership. More importantly, I am excited to bring back this knowledge to my peers so that we all can reach higher and become greater.” - 2015 Stryker Grant Recipient IMPACT “I am genuinely appreciative and deeply honored…As this is the first AORN Surgical Conference & Expo I will be attending I am excited for many reasons. First, there is an incredible amount of new information presented at the conference. I frequently resourced previously published AORN Conference information. Second, attending the conference in person will enable me to evaluate new surgical concepts and best practices in preparation for implementing them into my daily practice. Finally, I am excited for the opportunity to network with other operating room nurses and investigate new surgical products.” Kathryn Franklin BSN, RN, CNOR Boston, MA 2015 Stryker Professional Education Grant RECOGNITION The AORN Foundation is honored to recognize Stryker’s support and commitment to perioperative nurses through a variety of communication tools.
