Featured Outfitter: The Trek Staff
This issue, instead of observing our favorite outfitter we thought it would be appropriate to acknowledge our
very own Team Trek. Turning 41 years old this summer, the staff at Trek Safaris has accumulated close to 200
years of travel experience while maintaining a loyalty that is such a great attribute to any company. While
each individual has their own areas of responsibilities here at Trek that include arranging hunting/fishing trips,
documentations, flights, billings/receivables, marketing and data management, it is truly a team in every
sense of the word.
It is also one of the main reasons a trip with Trek is a seamless affair, each staff member communicating with
the other and recognizing that their part is no greater than the sum. No matter whom you reach at Trek, a
live voice will answer and get your questions handled as quickly and efficiently as possible. No department
heads and answer machines
telling you we are busy and to call
back later, just friendly and polite
conversations related to the most
exciting trips you can ever imagine.
While we take thousands of clients
on trips every year to all corners of
the globe, please rest assured that
Trek has your back 24/7. And should
any of you like to see firsthand
who you have been working with
all these years, well we took this
opportunity to show the best staff in
the business.

Having spent the better part of my life
traveling in Central America and South
America, I believe I am uniquely qualified
to offer some articulated opinions on a few
places. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not
a Wikipedia expert on any of these places,
nor am I receiving any under the table funds
to write good stuff. It’s just what I see and
experience that will hopefully offer a little
insight.
Of all the Latin countries where Trek has
been involved, few have undergone such a
drastic change as Nicaragua. In the early 70’s
a real colorful French Colonel named Joe
Redding was offering a few dove hunts from
his adopted Florida residence into Managua.
While I never met Colonel Redding, the
late Trek founder Bob Cloaninger did have
the pleasure and noted his military riding
breeches and crop cut quite the figure.
Redding’s hunts as you can imagine offered
a little more discipline than some would
like, but hunters enjoyed the dove shooting
in this warm and friendly nation.
In December of 1972 a 6.2 magnitude
earthquake devastated Managua killing
10,000 citizens and destroying almost 90%
of the city. Nicaragua and Colonel Redding’s
hunts were never the same. The earthquake
was so deep (3 miles) a large crater remains,
many businesses and residents never
returned. By 1977 Managua was slowly
recovering and Trek decided to runs its own
dove shoots with moderate success until
1979 when social upheaval and the start of
a ten year Contra-Sandinista conflict would
set Nicaragua back once again.
Tired of the warring and social strife, in 1990
Nicaragua democratically elected Violeta
Chamorro as the first woman President
ever in the Americas and Trek hardly waited
until the ink was dry before starting to offer
hunting trips there. While we did not
expect things to be the same, it was a shock
to see how Nicaragua had changed as the
country totally forgot how to farm and had
no conception of what values to place on
goods and services. I can remember bringing
one of the first groups into Nicaragua shortly
after the elections and was asked by the
hotel manager what we thought would be
fair dollar prices for our rooms, meals and
beverages as they had no idea what to charge.
I can remember a can of coke went from an
initial price of $10.00 US to a single dollar
by the time we left.
Those first groups back were happy to have
an alternative place to visit, especially a place
that was in the news for ten years and void
of tourism, but Nicaragua was competing
against hunts in Colombia, Honduras,
Argentina and Mexico. Unfortunately the
novelty of visiting Nicaragua was wearing
thin and Trek decided to make a change of
outfitters in 1992. Tourism and agriculture
were on the rise and we made a substantial
investment with Nicaraguan bothers Marvin
and Richard Townsend. The Townsend’s
were U.S. educated thus having solid
capitalistic ideas and together we started to
make inroads in terms of scouting, improved
equipment and change of hunting locations.
It has not been an easy road in Nicaragua,
nothing ever is in Central America, but
steadily the Townsend’s kept at it and
continued to invest in their programs.
Even with the re-election of old foe Daniel
Ortega as President in 2006, Nicaragua
continued down a path of social ideology
while embracing capitalistic opportunities.
Certainly Ortega is no friend of the U.S.,
and by no means a model dignitary, but it
cannot be denied that some of his policies
have worked.
Today I see a booming Nicaragua compared
to 42 years ago, real estate is on the rise
especially along the Pacific Coast where it
reminds me of Costa Rica in the late 70’s.
Seriously, there are some beautiful places
in Nicaragua and in some cases much
more cultural than their Central American
cousins. There are 19 active volcanoes, two
huge fresh water lakes and bordered by
-3-
the Atlantic
and Pacific
Oceans. No
they will
never reach
the ridiculous
tourist heights
of Costa Rica,
but with low
crime rates
and great
values many
are adding
Nicaragua to
their vacation
list.
As for the hunting, the best move we
have made is moving north to the city of
Chinandega where the nearby Palo Grande
Lagoon is situated along the Estero Real
River and offers some of the best Bluewinged Teal hunting in the world from
October to March. Along with Teal we have
also seen an increase in pintails, Shovelers
and Widgeons. Many of you ole-timers
will be glad to hear that we will have an
alternate dirt road to offer in 2014-15 that
will eliminate that last 1000-yard bumpy
stretch to the boats. You know, that stretch
where everybody spills their Toña beer on
one another, well no more!!
This past season we saw better white-winged
dove numbers due to increased scouting and
location specific field planting and we expect
this trend to continue. Additionally the
Townsend’s are adding a new lagoon or two
to our hunting programs that will offer more
diversity and will allow us to offer October
dates for those who want ducks only. The
teal are already there big time and while it is
too early and wet for doves, webfoot freaks
shouldn’t mind!!

This is one Croc
that’s not a Crock!!
There are dove hunting locations and then
there is Cordoba.
Trek Safaris and H&H outfitters have been the leaders in dove hunting in this area for over 20 years, offering the
most birds, nicest lodges and the best organized hunts available. For the 2014 season we will be using the newly
renovated La Portenita and Sierra Verde Lodges for your shooting experience.
Dove hunting in the Cordoba region of
Argentina is getting better every year. Trek
Safaris and H&H outfitters have been leading
the pack for over 20 years providing the best
dove hunting available. For the 2014 season
we will be offering two deluxe lodges, La
Portenita and Sierra Verde Lodges for your
shooting experience.
The Trip: This is a seven day- six night trip
that offers you three full and two half days of
high volume shooting or now a new two full
and two half days option. You trip begins on an
overnight flight from The States arriving into
Cordoba the following day. Upon your arrival
into Cordoba the staff of H&H Outfitters will
assist your gun clearance and transfer you to
your corresponding lodge. After introductions
and lunch we will head out for an afternoon
hunt. We shoot until late afternoon and then
we return to the lodge for a hot shower and a
drink before dinner. The next three days are full
hunting days with asado’s (local barbecue) in the
fields each day. On the last day you will have a
morning hunt and settle up before saying your
goodbyes followed by a transfer to your return
afternoon flight that will connect you to an
overnight flight home to The States.
The Shooting: Cordoba is the dove capital
of the world estimating the dove population
to be in the neighborhood of 32 million birds.
With huge tracts of agriculture and few known
predators, the dove population has exploded
and continues to do so. The South American
eared dove is similar in size and appearance to
the North American mourning dove except
the eared dove has a shorter tail. But the chief
difference between the two is the eared
dove’s pattern of flying the entire day
which allows us to hunt all day even in
inclement weather. This is a shotgunner’s
dream and it is not uncommon to shoot
3-4 cases of shells per day and more. A
typical hunting days starts with a wake
up call around 7:00 am. After a full
breakfast, we will load into the vans
for the 30-60 minute drive to the field.
Your pick-up boy will meet you in the
pre-scouted field with plenty of shells
and a cooler of cold drinks. Shooting
should be steady until lunch where a full
asado is served consisting of local cuts
of beef, chicken and pork, accompanied
by excellent salads, fresh baked breads and fine
wines. After lunch we will continue to shoot
until late afternoon when the sun starts to
set and then make our way back to the lodge
for cocktails and appetizers followed by a full
dinner and wines.
The Accommodations: Trek has exclusive rights
for two, newly renovated, deluxe lodges with
each having their own distinctive characteristics,
design and location. The one thing all our lodges
have in common is that they offer the very best
-4-
staffing, service, equipment and cuisine available
in Argentina. For the 2014 season Trek and H&H
will continue to feature La Portenita and Sierra
Verde Lodges. Please inquire about a brochure and
individual listings for the each of the lodges.

Estancia Cortaderas Argentina
Ariel Semenov has created a reputation of being one of the best
outfitters in the business over the last twenty-five years, almost
all of these with Trek. A great hunting or fishing trip is much
more than just pulling the trigger or setting a hook. It must be
about the total experience. Estancia Cortaderas offer exactly this
sitting on 60 acres above the Parana River about an hour north of
Parana in the small town of Hernandarias. The lodge features very
deluxe accommodations with WiFi, satellite TV, and ten single
air conditioned rooms with outdoor balconies offering incredible
views of the river. On this program we offer a complete mixed
bag with traditional duck hunts, upland perdiz hunts and high
volume dove hunts over four days at Cortaderas. Transitioning
into the warmer months of September-April, we are now offering
a fabulous four day cast & blast program where you fish the
beautiful Parana River in the mornings for the aggressive Golden
Dorado and shoot high volume dove in the afternoons. Exciting
packages to Cortaderas from $2,995-$4,670.
Malalcue Lodge Argentina
With all the newest improvements in travel and accommodations,
one lodge has been an unwavering rock in the hunting community
and that lodge is Malalcue. There are not many places where
Dove, Ducks, Perdiz and Pigeon can be hunted in the same
country, much less while staying at the same deluxe Lodge.
Malalcue has six bedrooms five baths, private dining room, living
room, bar, gun room, separate barbecue room and swimming
pool all overlooking the Corrientes River. On this trip we are
offering a tremendous variety of shooting activities. In four
full days of action, you’ll have four different types of shooting.
Generally most groups hunt ducks two or three times, Perdiz
once, one day of Pigeons and a day and a half of Dove. The most
common way to reach the lodge is on an over night flight from
the USA landing in Buenos Aires the following morning. Once
in Argentina you will have a domestic flight to Santa Fe or ask
about our charter options. You Malalcue hunt starts at $5,370.
Tucuman Argentina
Outfitter Gustavo Olsen has opened his highly anticipated Inti
Malal Lodge near the city of Tucuman in Northern Argentina.
As many Trek clients know, Gustavo is a wonderful host and is
very happy to invite you to what now must be considered one of
the finest wingshooting lodges in Argentina. Inti Malal Lodge
sits on 225 acres and has 14,000 square feet of comfort, offering
eight bedrooms all with private baths, a Jacuzzi with spa and
dry sauna, a large living area and a veranda with a deck and a
fire pit that overlooks the 80 acres of sorghum and sunflowers.
Dove hunting in Tucuman is a little different than other areas of
Argentina. You are up early and out to the field for a three- four
hour hunt. After the hunt we will go back to the lodge for lunch
and a siesta before heading back out for the afternoon hunt. The
afternoons are something to behold as the dove pour into the
local water holes and you will pull the trigger as fast as you can
load your gun. Shoot Tucuman for $2,495 to $3,495 depending
on time of year. .

A Different Dove Shooting Experience
There comes a time when something new emerges that begs your attention, something that totally alters your
previous expectations and demands that you must go and experience it for yourself. Well that time has arrived,
that the best wingshooting lodge in Argentina is now open for business. Call Trek and Book your trip today.
Thousands of traveling sportsmen visit
Argentina every year and why not, it’s safe,
beautiful and offers the best wingshooting
destinations in the world. For those who love
their dove shooting, the Cordoba Province
is the crème de la crème of dove shooting as
verified by hundreds of publications. It is
here in the northern woods of Cordoba where
Guayascate is located.
The Outfitter: The outfitter for Guayascate
are brothers Alex and Zeke Hayes forming the
reputable H&H Outfitters who along with
Trek has offered the best dove shooting trips
in Cordoba for over 20 years. Trek Safaris is
proud to partner with H&H to promote this
exciting new property that will revolutionize
the upscale shooting market for many years
to come. It is through their experiences of
owning and operating four other deluxe lodges
in Cordoba that inspired them to create this
wonderful new masterpiece.
The Hunting: It is estimated that there are over
35 million eared dove in the Cordoba Province
and climbing. Due to its rich agriculture and
lack of natural predators, the dove here are
actually a pest to farmers and the general
populace so hunters are a welcome sight to the
region. It is doubtful you will ever encounter
so many dove in a single moment, hour or day
than what you will see here in the Piquillin
trees where the eared dove roosts. In fact, the
property at Guayascate is actually full of these
Piquillin roosts making drives to the fields a
matter of minutes in most cases. Unless you
request it, you will not shoot the same fields
twice. Hunting season is year round and we are
offering three and four day hunts.
The Accommodations: Guayascate is 18,000
square feet of pure luxury with ten expertly
appointed rooms that allow group sizes to be
small and intimate with single rooms or double
up for as much fun as you wish. The exterior
design of local Mora rock and Quebracho
hardwoods, contrasts smartly with the magic
of one of the best interior designers in Buenos
Aires who has left her touches of contemporary
patterns of leather, tapestries and local artifacts
throughout the lodge. With huge windows
and doors framed in beautiful Quebracho, the
sunlight is your friend in most areas of the lodge
and highlights the cleanest of looks. So you just
want to relax? Well the lodge features an infinity
swimming pool with large fold out chairs, two
spacious heated Jacuzzi’s (inside and outside),
full spa with massage appointments, a library
complete with contemporary readings and a
custom expresso machine with international
coffees. If you like to be inspired by culinary
delights, the chef at Guayascate is one of Buenos
Aires’s finest and will offer both local and
international cuisine accompanied by the fine
South America reds and whites in the lodge’s
cellar. No matter whether you choose to be
-6-
outside or one of the well-furnished verandas
taking in the sunset, or inside on a cool day
soaking up the warmth of the huge stone
fireplace, Guayascate is the ultimate in comfort.
The Trip: The best way to reach Guayascate is
to fly into Santiago, Chile and wait in transit
for a flight across the Andes into Cordoba
International Airport where the staff from
Guayascate will meet the group and clear
immigrations and customs before taking the
90-minute drive north to the lodge. Or you
can elect to fly from Buenos Aires where you
can take a flight into Cordoba from either the
international airport (Ezeiza) or the domestic
airport (Aeroparque) depending on when you
arrive to B.A.

What can be better than a Teal Hunt in
Shorts?
Barely two hours from Miami and you are smack in the middle of some of the best teal hunting in the world.
In our efforts to always improve our programs, we have recently upgraded to the newly opened Hotel Farallones
where all shooters will enjoy the luxury of single room accommodations. Very few spots remain for 2014.
The Hunting: Imagine sitting comfortably
in a lush, tropical lagoon as the Papagayo
winds are gently tugging at your back,
when a flock of teal come zipping into
your decoys against the back drop of a
smoking volcano. This scene is played
out every day from October-March
in Nicaragua, home to one the largest
concentrations of wintering blue winged
teal in Central America. Literally thousands
and thousands of these fast flying ducks
call Nicaragua home through mid March
or as long as the water holds. Add in some
challenging white winged and mourning
doves and you have the makings of a
nice mixed bagged hunt in warm tropical
climes. You will also have the opportunity
to take pintails, spoonbills, widgeons and

Uruguay: The Sportsman’s Paradise
One of our major responsibilities here at Trek is to continue to seek
out the best fishing, hunting and adventure destinations that this
world has to offer. We have all heard, “The world is getting smaller”
and in most cases this certainly rings true but in the eyes of Trek, we
look to expand our horizons and find what others may have missed.
Touch down, Uruguay, 4400 miles from the United States and
although the eared dove is the main target for shotgunners traveling
to South America, this relatively small country is much more than
just dove. With coastline, rolling hills of agriculture, countless
heads of cattle and even flat marshlands, you name it, Uruguay has
it.
For over 20 years Trek Safaris has been leading the way to Uruguay
with Outfitters like Hector Sarasola, Edurado Gonzalez and
Luis Brown, yet it never goes stale. Hector, owner and operator
of Estancia Ninette, has expanded operations into the Artigas
Department and is now in his third season of offering one of the
most complete combination hunts anywhere in the world. Mornings
are spent shooting ducks, followed by three hours on the Uruguay
River in search of world record Golden Dorado with the option of
high volume dove or perdiz in the mix as well. During the six days
in counrty Hector and staff utilize both the Thermal Water Spa
Hotel in Artigas as well as his famous Estancia Ninette. This trip
offers many clients a chance to see some of the beautiful countryside
instead of just coming and going from the lodge and back to the USA
before you ever knew you were gone.
Located just 50 miles northeast from Montevideo lies the new
Estancia La Bellaca. Constructed from repurposed stone used to
build the grand Estancias of yesteryear, this six bedroom estate
has the classic feel but includes all the upgrades like a beautiful
swimming pool and even heated floors in the bathrooms. Patrick
Brown, manages the lodge and hunts during the short eight week
season when the pigeon and perdiz hunting are at their prime. Trek
is already planning for a couple’s trip to be hosted at La Bellaca in
May of 2015. From the excellent shooting to the accommodations
and with a little wine tasting thrown in, both shooters and nonshooters will be delighted with this new option in Uruguay.
Another unique opportunity in Uruguay is the new big game lodge
called Rincon de los Matrerous located near the town of Trente
Tres which lies three and a half hours Northeast of Montevideo.
Dutchman Mathieu Jetten has created a 3,000 acre ranch in the hill
country that is home to Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Axis Deer, two Sheep
species, and the big Javelina (wild boar). This ranch is a high fenced
hunt that offers the sportsman quality animals and can be coupled
with a wingshooting adventure to one of the other lodges while in
country.
Last but certainly not least is the true duck hunters paradise located
in the border town of Chuy. Expert waterfowler Eduardo Gonzales
continues to produce world class duck hunting out of Fortin San
Miguel with head guides Pacho and Santiago by the hunters side
in the blinds. During the months of May through the end of July
the mornings are spent in the duck blind while the afternoons are
spent behind one of Eduardo’s expertly trained Brittanys. For those
die hard waterfowlers that enjoy both morning and afternoon duck
hunts, the month of August is prime.
Trek has always stood behind Uruguay as a place that has it all and
if you have never made the trip, you owe it to yourself as a traveling
sportsman!

Uruguay - Estancia Ninette

World class shooting without the long drives.
Estancia Ninette has positively the best perdiz and closest high volume dove shooting of any lodge we have
as you can literally walk out the door and start hunting! Hector Sarasola is extremely proud of his Brittney
pointers and his enchanting Estancia Ninette will have you never wanting to leave.
The dove hunting is year round and with a
major roost literally next door they always
have great dove shooting within a short 15
minute drive, or you could always walk.
The best time for strictly dove shooting
would be their spring from September
through March and for combination hunts
of perdiz hunting mixed with doves May
through July are truly excellent. Uruguay
has without a doubt the best perdiz hunting
that South America has to offer. Situated
above the Rio Negro, Ninette also offers
dorado fishing for those of you who get
tired of all the shooting and would like
to try their luck at catching the famed
golden dorado.
The Dove Trip: Each trip is a seven day,
six night adventure with four total days of
hunting. The trip begins with a morning
arrival into Montevideo, Uruguay. Hector or
one of his staff will meet the group and assist
you through customs. You will then drive
about three hours to Estancia Ninette where
you will hunt dove this afternoon. The next
three days will be full days of hunting with
doves early morning, perdiz late mornings
and doves again in the afternoon. The last
morning you will hunt doves and perdiz
before returning to Montevideo where you
will catch your overnight flight back to The
States.
The Perdiz-Dove Combination Trip: The
Perdiz hunting around
La Ninette is amazing.
Each two hunters will
have a guide and dog
and you can expect to
flush 30-50 perdiz each
morning in 2 hours
of easy walking and
the limits are liberal.
The dove hunting in
the afternoons is high
volume. You can expect
to fire 20-40 boxes in a
few hours and they have
several roosts that are
close by Ninette. The
trip is seven days, six
nights with four days
of hunting. Also, the possibility of a pigeon
or duck hunt can be arranged based on the
concentration of birds at the time of the hunt.
The Accommodations: Estancia La Ninette
is the only hunting lodge in Uruguay built
especially for hunters. The lodge has eight
bedrooms, all with baths, a large living room
with a fireplace that overlooks the Rio Negro,
and a very nice indoor barbecue room that
usually becomes the main hang out. Meals
will feature beef, chicken, game, pastas, salads
and fine Uruguayan wines so you will not
leave hungry.
TRIP FEE: Dove Hunt: $2,395.00
Dove Special Sept-Nov 31: $2,195.00

Experience the Dark Continent on a
Fantastic Introductory Plains Game Hunt
If you are just beginning to plan a trip to Africa, it might seem a little daunting, a little intimidating and
even a little frightening, but don’t worry, Trek can help ease your anxiety by arranging an exciting and hassle
free safari.
Trek has put together a program that will send
you on your dream safari and keep fueling
the fire to do it again and again. Kwalata
Wilderness is our outfitter in the Limpopo
Providence of South Africa and provides one
of the best plain’s game hunts anywhere in
Africa. We are proud to be offering this as one
of our premier big game destinations for 2014.
The Hunting- This hunt takes place on 32,000
acres of complete free range in the Waterburg
Mountains of the Limpopo Providence, South
Africa. Unlike the typical African plains, Kwalata
is more mountainous providing elevation and a
landscape mix that assures unique scenery for a
truly wild hunting experience and a welcome
challenge to harvest your animals. Since plains
game is the primary species, the best time to hunt
is from March through October as these are the
cooler months in South Africa and much more
pleasant. Owners Reinhard Heuser and Jaco
Strauss have offered Trek an exclusive package
to include a seven day safari for a Kudu, Blue
Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbuk, and Warthog.
However, there are over twenty plains game
species you may wish to add to your package
and you can even hunt four of the Big 5. Trek
chose Kwalata because of the abundance of game
available and the excellent PH’s on staff with each
going above and beyond making sure you have
a chance to harvest your animals.
The Accommodations- Valamanzi is the main
camp and lodge located in
the African bush on a small
river that provides a quiet
and peaceful atmosphere. You
will stay in one of the three
cozy chalets complete with
two bedrooms, a bathroom
and lounge area. Built on
stilts overlooking the river
and connected by walkways,
Valamanzi offers a very unique
setting for an African safari.
The central part of the lodge
is built with beautiful African
wood and thatched roofs and
has a large common area that is
perfect for unwinding and reflecting on the days
hunt. The cuisine is one of the best parts of your
stay at Kwalata with many meals consisting of

Mozambique Africa
Of all the big game hunting that is done in Africa, one of the most
challenging and rewarding trophies is the Cape Buffalo. Trek
is fortunate to partner with Mark Haldane, owner of Zambezi
Delta Safaris, in Eastern Mozambique for a 100% real big game
adventure on over 4,000,000 acres of complete free range. This
area is home to thousands of buffalo allowing you to be selective
and take the largest “Dagga Boy” you can find with bosses in
the 38-42 inch range. There is plenty of plains game here as well
from the tiny Livingston’s Suni to herds of sable. Trek clients will
mostly be housed in Mungari Camp, a very popular tented style
camp with each tent having private bathrooms and comfortable
beds. The best way to reach camp is overnight in Johannesburg
South Africa then connect with an earl y morning flight to Beira
Mozambique. Mark’s guys will be on the ground to help clear
customs then fly you to camp on a private charter. Trip fee runs
$12,000/hunter for ten full hunting days including one buffalo
not including airfare.

Spreading Wings in Canada
For more than 40 years now, Trek Safaris has offered the best hunting
and fishing destinations alongside some of the world’s greatest
outfitters. Continuing our promise to deliver these programs and
to many customer’s delight, Trek will be spreading wings this fall in
Saskatchewan and offering an all-new Canadian Goose & Duck hunt.
Over the last few years, research has provided substantially
increasing numbers of geese and ducks making the Saskatchewan
Providence their home for the summer and fall months, particularly
near Saskatoon. Knowing this and after spending the last year vetting
outfitters and searching for the one that matches our criteria best, we
came across Pacific Wings Prairie Outfitters Canada during the SCI
Vegas show this past February. Trek owner, Milton Hanburry, really
liked what he heard and the process began to build the relationship.
Started by Mike Franklin in Spokane Washington, Pacific Wings has
been around for about 40 years with Mike expanding to Saskatoon
Saskatchewan ten years ago.
There are few things that set Pacific Wings apart from the other
guys starting with their approach to decoys. Many outfitters have
outdated approaches and equipment, but Mike has found a custom
method of texturing and building his own decoys to provide the
most realistic setup in Canada. Wind plays an integral part of decoy
spreads when using sock style decoys, but you will not see windsock
decoys here. So, on a day with no wind, you have a chance to still
limit out. Mike has also fabricated his own layout blinds that are not
like anything else on the market. They offer the concealment of an in
ground pit, but are 100% mobile allowing great versatility.
Certainly a major plus for most clients is having a lodge to come
back to after the hunt and kick your feet up. Lots of Canadian
waterfowlers find themselves staying in the local Motel 8 with several
dozen other hunters and having to fend for themselves for lunch
and dinner. While some are ok with this, Trek looked to find an
operation to provide more than just a hunting guide service. Pacific
Wings provides groups with the option of two lodges that are both
very comfortable and cozy along with offering three meals a day.
The beauty of shooting geese and ducks in Canada is it is literally
in our backyard and only a few hours away if you choose to fly.
Saskatoon is serviced from several US cities daily and our in-house
travel agents will always help securing flights if you choose. Mike
and his guys will be there when you arrive and transfer you out to
the lodge which is about an hour and half from Saskatoon.
The fall hunting season starts September 10 and runs through
November 1, but this next spring, Trek will be embarking on a
spring waterfowl season with Pacific Wings. With the attention to
detail Pacific Wings provides and the experience of Trek, why not
head to Canada this fall and shoot geese? Trek has options starting
at $2,300/person not including airfare, so give us a call today and
secure your spot.

Bolivia - Las Palomas Lodge
17° 32.874’S 62° 12.811’W
Las Palomas Lodge, the name say’s it all,
“The Doves Lodge”
Jorge Molina and his staff have worked exhaustively to make this “The” dove lodge in Bolivia. From the
attentive staff to the deluxe single room accommodations, this place has it all. Come see what all of your
friends are talking about, call Trek today for details on this dove shooting paradise.
Las Palomas Lodge was started about nine years
ago by Jorge Molina, a four-time Colombian
national skeet shooting champion and two-time
member of Colombia’s Olympic skeet-shooting
team. With the hands on service and always
giving the little extras, every group came back
raving about the service and shooting. Most
groups immediately rebook for next year, some
even returned a couple times in the same year!
The biggest plus for Bolivia is that the flights are
much shorter than going to Argentina. On the
way down it is an 8.5 hour trip, due to a brief
stop in La Paz, but on the way home it is only
6.5 hour non-stop day flight from Santa Cruz
to Miami. At Las Palomas Lodge, the shooting
and service are outstanding, they truly aim
to please and whatever you want, they make
happen. We will be running six and seven day
trips with either 3 or 4 full days of shooting
again this year with the last evening staying in
Santa Cruz before returning early the following
morning to Miami. Jorge is running at 90%
repeat bookings for this season so if you want
to experience a great trip with great shooting,
book early as space is going fast.
The Trip: Each trip will begin with an overnight
flight on American Airlines to Santa Cruz. When
you arrive in Santa Cruz you will be met by
one of the lodge’s staff who will assist the group
through customs. You will then be driven 90
minutes to the Las Palomas Lodge. After lunch
and getting settled in, the group will head out
and hunt this afternoon. The next two or three
days are full hunting days with special lunches
prepared in the fields. The following day has a
half-day of shooting before heading to the lodge
for lunch and then returning to Santa Cruz for
the last evening. The last morning you get up
early for breakfast and transferred to the airport
in time to catch your flight back to Miami leaving
at 9:00am.
TRIP FEE: $ 2,950.00 per person for the 3
shooting day program and $ 3,495.00 for the
4 day program, based on double occupancy.

for $2,950.00 and son hunts for $1,950.00 for

Brazil - Floating Cabins
0°0’19.81” N . 64°7’27.76” W
We have the set up for your
Adventurous Peacock Bass Vacation
If you are looking for a peacock bass fishing adventure of a lifetime, check out our Floating Cabins. We have
established exclusive fishing rights in some of the most productive waters in the Amazon basin.
Trek Safari’s has operated in the Amazon Basin
for nearly 2 decades. As hundreds of our clients
can attest, Brazil is THE place to go for shots at
trophy sized peacocks. Multiple new world records
established over the past few years affirm that
fact. Through the years, we have utilized various
methods of accessing this tremendous fishery;
from mother ships to land based lodges, but
nothing we have done in the past can match these
floating cabins for getting you into private fishing
areas. These waters cannot be accessed by mother
ship operations due to the fact that we maintain
exclusive fishing rights to the region. Trek anglers
will now be flying into airstrips in these private areas
and be then taken by very comfortable “express”
boats to the camp. The floating cabin program will
be a seven day, six
night trip with four
full and one partial
day of peacock bass
action. Upon arrival
into Manaus (Trek
will be happy to
assist you with your
international flights)
you will be met by a
lodge representative
and be transferred to
your hotel with the
remainder of the day
at leisure in Manaus.
After breakfast at the hotel the next morning, you
will be transferred to the airport for the flight to the
region where our floating cabins will be stationed.
You will then be taken by fast boat to the camp.
After getting your gear stowed and preparing your
equipment, you will head out to fish the remainder
of the day. The next four days will be full fishing
days and on the morning of the last day, the group
will be flown back to Manaus in time to board
your scheduled international flight to Miami.
This trip is geared to the angler who is looking for
an adventure to an exclusive spot where few have
fished. Our anglers report up to 50 + fish per boat,
per day with peacocks released up to 20 pounds.
Groups are kept small, only 12 anglers per week
so fishing pressure is never an issue.
We had an incredible time in Brazil
and the conditions could not have
been better. The floating cabins
were comfortable and certainly took
us into some new water that has not
been hit by other operations.
Having my brother along to share
this adventure certainly helped fuel
some friendly fishing competition.
Can’t wait to go back!

Gregg and Goldine, the owners of the Zancudo Lodge, a long

grouper, cuberra snapper and mammoth roosterfish, you’ll also
get shots at sails, marlin, dorado and tackle busting yellowfin
tuna. The combination of offshore and inshore action here can
be fantastic, so, if a true mix bag is what you are looking for, a

Summer Fishing
Summer is just around the corner and it could not
have arrived any sooner for us in the East. While
some of you have already made local plans, Trek
has a full listing of great places around the world to
have fun this summer for you and the entire family.
jumper to Ambergris. This is a
great spot for island hopping;
leave your Tommy Bahamas at
home!! Add a fifth night for
relaxing at no charge.
Let’s start with the Caribbean where in many cases
the fishing can be as good or better than heavily
promoted spring months. Take for instance Grand
Slam Lodge where anglers can take snook, tarpon,
bonefish and permit within 20 minutes from the
dock. With beautiful and spacious villas located
right on the beach of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula,
GSL offers one of the best values for the buck of
any fishing lodge in the Caribbean. This summer
you and a friend can visit this high-end lodge for
four nights with three days guided fishing for
under $1700.00 per person. It’s real easy to reach
with daily flights into Cancun from most major
hubs and then a three-hour road/boat transfer to
the lodge.
Further South on the Pacific
coast of Costa Rica there is
a place called Crocodile Bay
Resort where luxury meets
big-time game fishing. Some
of the best Yellowfin Tuna and
Rooterfish angling is during
the summer months, but we
must warn you, taking these species in the same
day is heart pounding and exhilarating so only the
true sportsman need apply. These fish will truly
kick your arse!! Aside for the Roosters and Tuna,
you can reasonably expect to take sails, marlin
and dolphin offshore as well as inshore battlers
like giant Jack Crevalles, Amberjacks and Sierra
Mackerel. Honestly there is no telling what you
will catch with live bait, but catch you will. Croc
Bay’s standard rooms are definitely a cut above
your average fishing lodge that’s why they call it a
resort, but it is still back breaking fishing that they
do best. And if that back becomes painful, there’s
a 5000 square foot spa with someone who can fix
it!! Getting to Crocodile Bay calls for a flight into
San Jose for fun overnight in the city. The next
day you will take a 45-minute commercial prop
flight south to Puerto Jimenez and a driver/5 iron
to the lodge. This trip usually calls for three days
fishing but we’ll design the best trip for the bang.
Special extensions are available this summer so
call now for details.
Another great Caribbean spot in the summer is
Ambergris Caye off the coast of Belize, a favorite
place to fish the flats for bonefish and permit
as well as trolling the reef for toothy fish like
snapper and barracudas. The Great Barrier Reef
in Ambergris is the world’s second largest and only
a pithing wedge from the docks. Places like Hol
Chan and Shark Alley are famous for snorkeling
and not to mention the famous Blue Hole and
other areas for diving. Our great team of fishing
guides actually knows a few great places not on
the tourist map and there are no language barriers
as they all speak English perfectly. Our main
headquarters will be the Banyan Bay Villas offering
two separate bedrooms and bath for two anglers.
We can put you in a villa with the best guides for
four nights and three days for under $1500.00 per
person. There are daily flights from several major
hubs into Belize City and then a 10-minute puddle
Have you ever wanted to quit that stressful job?
Tired of never catching up with the Jones’s? Bored
of the same old routine? Well Chad Marquis was
that person and now he owns Paradise Lodge on the
-18-
Pacific side of Panama, similar fishing to Croc Bay
but with more catching opportunities. Chad built
his “Paradise” himself and it’s not your everyday
fishing lodge, perched on a substantial hillside with
a 360 view of the Pacific and beyond, the lodge
features a unique grass tiered roof and handcrafted
rock formations throughout. This tropical fishing
resort has super spacious, wood- adorned rooms,
open air dining and a beautiful infinity pool.
And did we mention the great summer fishing for
giant Yellowfins, 200-pounders are caught every
summer using Paradise’s 27’ Contenders and expert
guides. Sashimi anyone? Panama offers so many
exciting options for those looking to extend their
trip including peacock bass fishing in Lake Gatun,
a visit to the Miraflores Locks and a stay in one
of the most international cities of the Americas.
Panama is an easy trip for most Americans as many
Panamanians speak English and the dollar is the
official currency. Most major U.S. airlines have
daily flights into Panama City followed by a road
transfer to Paradise!!

ESTANCIA LA BELLACA
Just 50 minutes from the capital
city of Montevideo, tucked in
the hills of the Sierras de Minas,
lies La Bellaca. Owner Luis
Brown constructed this ranch by
repurposing stone and rock from
near by ranches in the region and
created a pigeon and perdiz oasis
in the process. This six bedroom
estancia plays host to groups
only eight weeks a year when the
sorghum crops are ripe and the
pigeons fill the sky. Lodge Manager
Patrick manages the ranch and
hosts the groups from May though
June for hunters and non-hunters
alike. Join trek Safaris at La Bellaca
for mixed bag hunts of decoying
pigeons and the upland perdiz in
2015!
