Conejo365 | Summer 2016 | 1
It’s just amazing how much is happening in the Conejo Valley. With every issue, more and
more events are being displayed in print and posted through our website.
Plus, our number of email subscribers is growing daily. What is an email subscriber?
Conejo365 sends out a weekly email every Thursday morning. It keeps our email
subscribers up to date with what is up-coming for the weekend. So, if you want to be in
the know about the latest goings-on, sign up at www.conejo365.com . It’s free and filled
with an amazing rundown of great ways to more fully enjoy the Conejo.
At this time of year, the hills have turned to a golden canvas with splashes of beautiful
green oak trees. In this magazine, we have done our best to capture this colorful palette,
as have so many of our local photographers and painters. But even these works of art can’t
match the real thing; something you need to see with your own eyes. Take your family or
out-of-town guests on a sunset drive on Kanan Road or do a hike down Sycamore Canyon.
There is nothing else like it.
The National Park Service is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Many of the photos
in this issue where taken on National Park property. If you want to know more about the
National Parks in the Conejo go to www.samofund.org. You will be amazed at what’s right
here in our own backyard.
As you peruse this latest issue, please take the time to notice our advertisers and give them
a buzz the next time you need one of their services. Their commitment to the community
and this magazine deserves to be rewarded.
And, as we continue to bring you news of the many, fantastic things going on in and
around the Conejo through our magazine and website, we encourage you to let us know
how we’re doing and what else we can provide to make Conejo365 even more useful to
you. Enjoy your summer.
Sincerely,
Mike Corridori

“Reefer Madness, the Musical”
California Lutheran presents Western
Art Exhibit
Conejo Players Theatre, 351 S. Moorpark Rd., Thousand
Oaks
Cal Lutheran, William Rolland Gallery, 60 W. Olsen Rd.,
Thousand Oaks
Inspired by the original 1936 film of the same
name, this raucous musical comedy takes a
tongue-in-cheek look at the hysteria caused
when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana,
leading them on a hysterical downward spiral.
You won’t be able to resist the spoofy fun and
highly stylized and satirical political commentary
containing adult humor with clever musical
numbers. Rated R.
An exhibit of Western-themed art, “Romancing
the West: A Legacy of American Images” will be
on display. The free exhibit features figurative and
landscape paintings, sculptures and drawings.

Summertime Concert Series at
Peter Strauss Ranch
Peter Strauss Ranch, 30000 Mulholland Dr., Agoura
Tiny Porch Concerts presents the National
Park Service Summer Concert Series. Sean
Watkins - singer, songwriter and multiinstrumentalist has long been known
for his work as one-third of the Grammy
Award-winning Nickel Creek and, more
recently, for helming, with sister Sara, the
itinerant, genre-hopping Watkins Family
Hour ensemble. But in the last year he has
more assertively – and impressively – taken
on the role of solo artist. ‘What To Fear’ is a
follow-up to 2014’s acclaimed ‘All I Do Is Lie’,
which had been Watkins’ first solo effort in
nearly a decade, ten years that had been
jammed with collaborative projects and a
herculean amount of touring. Bring a picnic
basket and your favorite bottle of wine and
relax on the ranch before the show. These
concerts are free to the public. Reserved
seating is limited. To reserve a seat, donate
to the series or become a sponsor please
visit our website. Sponsorship and donation
