ATTENTION! Listen up, boys and girls! In this installation of ‘Cadets
Fall In’ programme, learn about Army life through an outdoor 'Survival!'
field camp, a laser tag game mission, and our Special Exhibition. Also,
bring out the ‘garang’ soldier in you, by donning one of our child-sized
uniforms, complete with accessories. Enjoy a fun-filled experience for
children of all ages.

Tuesdays to Sundays | Ends 31 July | 10am to 6pm
Ever wondered what the different formations in the Army do? Here’s
your chance to embark on an experiential journey to find out more
about the formations that make up the Army and what it takes to be
a soldier. Test your strength, endurance, dexterity, agility and mental
ability by trying out the various activity stations. At the Jungle Zone,
you will learn fun facts about jungle survival, such as building a
shelter, starting a fire or collecting food and water.
Regular admission charges to the galleries apply. Free admission for
Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents.
VAN CLEEF & ARPELS:
THE ART AND SCIENCE OF GEMS
ARTSCIENCE MUSEUM
Ends 14 August
The Art and Science of Gems, Van Cleef & Arpels, looks at the art
of jewellery making and the science of mineralogy. The exhibition
showcases 250 gems and minerals from the French National
Museum of Natural History and 450 jewellery creations from Van
Cleef & Arpels' collection. It follows the journey of minerals inside
the Earth since 4.6 billion years ago until their transformation into
beautiful jewellery creations. The various processes, both scientific
and artistic, are explored with hands-on workshop, interactive
games, tour and creative take-away. Each child can look forward to
an education booklet filled with fun facts & activities.

Public Guided Tour

Embark on a journey for an exclusive glimpse into the worlds of
exquisite jewellery and their links to minerals. Discover the stories
behind some of Van Cleef & Arpels’ iconic creations together with
geology and mineralogy exhibits from the French National Museum
of Natural History.
Complimentary to ticket-holders of Van Cleef & Arpels: The Art and
Science of Gems exhibition. Up to 25 participants on a first-come,

THE MISSING MOUSE

Get ready to find the missing mouse! Experience a story about
friendship and adventure in the museum as you join Ganesha on
his hunt for his best friend, Mr Mouse! Explore meandering mazes,
paths and passages to track him down. Create your own adventure
in the museum. This exhibition is based on Asian Civilisations
Museum’s first children’s book, The Missing Mouse. Through handson activities, workshops, programmes, and tours, you can learn
more about animals – both real and mythical – in Asian art. Have an
enjoyable time with the whole family at this exhibition.
FINDING MR MOUSE: WEEKEND FESTIVAL

Can you find Mr Mouse? Join Ganesha and friends on an adventure
around the Asian Civilisations Museum. This special festival features

Join Gan Heritage Centre this Children’s Season and take part in
some educational fun! Enjoy themed exhibition board games and
learn about Singapore’s landmarks, Confucius values, differences
between Chinese and English kinship terms, and the evolution and

calligraphy workshop, where they will learn how to use a Chinese
brush to write characters in the Yan style, or delight in a colouring
activity, perfect for budding doodlers.

This June, learn the traditional Chinese art form of ink painting
in our Introduction to Chinese Ink Painting workshops. Parents and
children will be introduced to the history of Chinese ink painting
10–11
before learning basic brush techniques and painting objects such
as bamboo, birds and flowers. In the second session, you will learn
how to capture the spirit of a subject with contemporary brush
techniques. A greater emphasis will be placed on brush control
and composition of your ink painting. At the end of the workshop,
each team will bring home their own unique work!

WORKSHOP: SKETCHING THE BLAIR PLAIN

The Blair Plain area is home to clusters of two and three–storey
shophouses of various architectural styles. One can often
find artists sketching the ornate facades of these beautifully
conserved houses. Did you know that sketches are often part of
the preparation for a drawing or painting, allowing the artist to
put down their ideas and plan the piece before working on the
final masterpiece? During the workshop, participants will first be
introduced to the various concepts and basic process for creating
a sketch. In the second session, they will learn how to apply the
concepts to landscape sketching while appreciating heritage at the
Blair Plain Conservation Area.

minimum of 9 pairs of parents and children to conduct workshop.

Hall’s new special exhibition, Early Chinese Newspapers in Singapore
(1881–1942). The exhibition showcases more than 100 images and
artefacts associated with early Chinese newspapers, prominent
individuals who shaped the newspaper industry, and the early
printing industry in Singapore. In conjunction with the exhibition’s
launch, come sing, dance, relax and enjoy a weekend of Shanghai
Splendour at Wan Qing Weekend!
