Pastors on Staff for Weddings
It is the responsibility of the Bride and Groom to select the Pastor to perform their wedding ceremony
and make arrangements with him/her. Pastors may be interviewed. Each of them will require WVC
approved premarital counseling even to perform a wedding offsite.
Our Pastors will recommend to counsel with you and may choose not to perform your ceremony if you
are living together or if either of you are not Christ-followers.
BRENT WILLIAMS • Pastor/Counselor/Director of Pastoral Care
• Direct #: 719.388.4975
• Contemporary/traditional/personal/creative
KEVIN FELDOTTO
• Pastor/Counselor/Leads WVC Premarital Workshop
• Direct #: 719.388.4979
• “I am not a traditionalist. I believe a wedding should be fun and unique. It should say a lot
about you individually and as a couple. I encourage couples to ignore the ‘rules’ and do what
they feel fits them. I tend to be informal and like to use humor during the ceremony.”
MIKE BIEDERMANN
• Pastor & Director of Finance
• Assistant Crystal’s #: 719.388.4932
• “Within the guidelines of God’s Word, I prefer to personalize weddings to the benefit of the bride
& groom & their families, encouraging them in making their wedding day a true celebration.”
RICH GRIFFITH
• Pastor of Men’s Ministries and Sports & Recreation
• Direct #: 719.388.4958
• “I love working with a couple as we design a wedding that is specific to them.” If you know any of our other pastors, you are welcome to contact them directly to check their availability
to perform your wedding.
Woodmen Valley Chapel Wedding Policies
PREMARITAL CLASSES/COUNSELING
• Completion of approved premarital counseling prior to the wedding is required. Please note
that counseling must be completed to the satisfaction of our Pastoral Care Department and
approved by them at least one month before your wedding.
• At WVC: Prepare Inventory, completion of all classes and additional sessions if applicable.
• Off-site counseling: Your wedding date may be requested and held temporarily. A letter from the
counselor, including subjects covered and time to be devoted to your counseling, will be needed
before a wedding request can be finalized. Counseling must be scripture based and comparable
to WVC classes. A letter, verifying completion of counseling, will also be needed a minimum of 30
days before the rehearsal, preferably before your invitations are sent.
WEDDING
• WVC believes in a covenant relationship in marriage between two Christians, one male and one
female, as described in Scripture and between those persons and God. We believe vows and
commitments are made as a result of a personal relationship with God and should honor Him and
the relationship He desires between a husband and wife.
• Our Pastors will ask to counsel with you and may opt not to approve your wedding request or
perform your ceremony if you are living together or if either of you are not a believer or Christ
follower. Please allow us the opportunity to discuss this with you, explaining why we have chosen
this position, which actually has your best interests in mind.
• Weddings are confirmed only when you have received a confirmation letter stating that your wedding
date and time have been approved. Submitting your request is not confirmation of the date.
• A deposit of 50% is due two weeks from the date on your confirmation letter. The balance is
due two months before the rehearsal date. Fees are 100% refundable up to 90 days prior to the
rehearsal date. After that, any refund is subject to approval of the Pastoral Care Director.
• It is the responsibility of the couple to make arrangements with the pastor they choose to perform
their wedding ceremony.
• The honorarium for WVC pastors is included in the fees. Guest pastors may also perform weddings
at WVC with prior approval. The honorarium for a guest pastor is your responsibility in addition to
our fees. A copy of the guest pastor’s license and/or ordination certificate should be provided to the
wedding administrator as soon as possible after your date is confirmed. The fee for a non-member
wedding is reduced by $50 if there is a guest pastor.
• A wedding coordinator from Woodmen Valley Chapel will be assigned to meet with you to
discuss and help plan your rehearsal and wedding ceremony. Our coordinator will direct the
rehearsal and wedding on your behalf.
STONE CHAPEL
• Set up routinely for 350 people. Our pine trees may not be removed from the stage. The building
is not air-conditioned. Restrooms are in the lower level and are handicap accessible.
• We usually schedule two hours for rehearsals and four hours for your wedding day.
• Rehearsals are generally scheduled after 5 pm the day before the wedding, but may be scheduled
earlier if a coordinator and sound tech are available. Decorating before your rehearsal may be
restricted by a memorial service or another church activity, but would not alter the times that you
have reserved. Additional charges may apply for extra time and should be requested and paid for
a minimum of one month prior to the rehearsal.
• The sound tech will be available for a total of 4 hours, (which includes 2 hours at the rehearsal and
2 hours at the wedding). Sound techs are not available for receptions.
• Oil candles supplied by Woodmen Valley Chapel will be used on the candelabras or aisle stands.
The total number of regular candles is not to exceed 50 in compliance with fire codes. Unity
candles and tea lights in the candle screens are not provided or counted in the 50 candles.
• The lower level of the Stone Chapel is shared on Thursday and Friday evenings with other WVC
ministry events.
• Saturday weddings are scheduled to conclude by 4 pm to allow any additional decorations or
floral items to be removed and not interfere with Saturday church services and activities. We
cannot schedule weddings on Sundays.
MISCELLANEOUS
• Photographers should be instructed to limit the number of flashes during the ceremony. The stage
area is off limits to the photographer and videographer during the ceremony. An unmanned
camera may be placed on the stage. Videotaping will be handled according to the discretion of
the officiating minister and the bride and groom, in consultation with the wedding coordinator.
• Decorations (flowers, bows, etc.) may not be attached directly to the chairs.
• Artificial rose petals may be scattered lightly in the aisle at the beginning of the ceremony. Real
rose petals may be scattered lightly if there is an aisle runner in place.
• There will be no rice or birdseed thrown on church property or artificial rose petals used outside
the sanctuary. Bubbles or helium balloons may be used outside.
• It is the responsibility of the wedding party to remove all decorations and property not belonging
to the church, including items in the dressing rooms, within the reserved times.
• If you are not using a church musician, the musicians and musical selections for your wedding
ceremony should be approved by the wedding coordinator.
• All children on the premises are to be under adequate adult supervision at all times. Groups are
not permitted to provide their own childcare, use the WVC nursery for childcare or the playground
during the rehearsal or wedding. Childcare and childcare facilities are provided only for WVC
ministry activities.
• Noah’s Ark, a children’s facility, is a “nut free” environment because so many children have allergies.
• Smoking and the use of alcoholic beverages are prohibited on church property.
Please explain this to your guests and wedding party and ask that they honor this policy.
PRAYER CHAPEL
• Used for small weddings with an attendance of 25 people or less.
• Our facility may be reserved for up to 90 minutes on the day of your wedding.
The dates and times are more flexible than the Stone Chapel and may include Sundays.
• Rehearsals may be scheduled if the pastor believes one is necessary.
• No sound tech or AV equipment is available.
• Limited WVC decorations & oil candles are available only when a WVC wedding coordinator
is scheduled.
• Unity candle and two tapers will be the only wax candles allowed.
• Rooms to dress in may be scheduled if available.
• Use of the Prayer Chapel is “as is.” Equipment in the Prayer Chapel may not be relocated.
