Township of Puslinch candidates
Section B of The Wellington Advertiser, Friday, September 26, 2014 PAGE THIRTEEN MUNICIPAL ELECTION 2014 Township of Puslinch candidates Dennis Lever MAYOR Puslinch Township Population: Candidate debates 7,029 October 8 at 7pm Puslinch Community Centre, Aberfoyle Number of private dwellings: 2,534 I ran for mayor four years ago with the support of my wife (of 41 years) Karen, and my own conviction that Puslinch had fallen behind in many ways. Change is coming fast. Our great quality of life depends on smarter management. It’s no longer acceptable to raise taxes aggressively as a substitute for good planning. Over the past four years, council has made many improvements. We are on track. Tax increases are way down. Budgeting is clear. Things are getting done. With your support, I will continue this important work based on a well-planned vision of our collective future. As a current councillor in Puslinch, I have tried to maintain rural values, be a vocal advocate for residents, fiscally responsible, transparent and goal-oriented. As a retired vice-principal, I am able to balance my family and public life with triathlon competitions (recent Ironman), marathons and ski/snowboard instruction. I believe my record as an active, productive councillor and my ability to listen and act rationally will give the residents a good reason to re-elect me for council. I have been privileged to serve for three consecutive terms. “Embracing the future ... respecting the past” is the motto which best describes my vision for our township. Moving forward with the Morriston bypass, addressing gravel pit rehabilitation with an emphasis how this can best benefit Puslinch, and openness and community engagement are all issues which we must continue to work on. We also must recognize that Puslinch is a great community because of its citizens. I respect all their contributions ... past, present and into the future. 6 n7 Susan Fielding COUNCILLOR Puslinch Township Crieff sio Gore Road es Concession 1 nc Co Telephone: 519-763-7839 Email: [email protected] t Vic Ken Roth is currently serving his first term as Puslinch Township councillor, is chair of the Planning Advisory Committee, and sits on the Fire Committee and Badenoch Recreation Committee. As a small business owner for nearly 25 years, I have well-developed customer service and financial management skills. My involvement in a range of local, regional and provincial organizations has given me the opportunity to see issues from a multi-level perspective. Lessons learned from working with groups of divergent interests are invaluable when developing solutions to complex issues. By working with our talented residents and business community, I believe my “can-do” attitude can help enhance the place we have all chosen to call home.
