Performance
Trimline Rigid Roll is the most tested and certified
Ridge Vent on the market and provides superior
ventilation, offering the most efficient way to
achieve the industry-recommended balanced system.
Trimline Ridge Vents provide continuous ventilation
by exhausting hot, moist air from the attic while
keeping out the most extreme weather elements like
heavy rain, hail, sleet and snow.
Trimline Rigid Roll Plus Benefits:
• Efficiently vents at the hottest point of the roof, the
ridge line.
• Releases damaging hot, moist attic air using the
circulation created by a balanced system. See “The Key
to Proper Attic Ventilation” on page 5.
• Made of HDPE Plastic, which withstands extreme
temperatures and won’t crack, dent or damage from hail
or ice.
• Continues to prevent
water infiltration
in the event of a
shingle blow-off.
• Rigorously
tested in extreme
weather conditions to
ensure no moisture
infiltration. Passed 8.8” of rain per hour at 110-MPH
winds with no infiltration. Passed snow simulation at
70 MPH with no infiltration.
• Additionally Trimline Ridge Vents have been airflow tested
in dusty environments according to ICC standards with no
reduction in airflow.
One-Pass™ Installation
Trimline Rigid Roll offers One-Pass Installation, securing cap
shingles and vent with the same nail. To assure the fastest
installation process with a smooth and even
ridge line, Trimline Rigid
gid Roll
Rol should
not be pre-fastened along
ong the
entire vent prior to cap
ap
shingle installation.
• Durable
corrugated
HDPE plastic
enables the
use of a coil nail
gun with no crushing.
• Trimline Rigid Roll Plus unrolls in seconds and can be
easily trimmed to any length using a utility knife.

How Trimline Ridge Vent
StormStop® Membrane Works
The Trimline StormStop protects the attic from nature’s worst elements.
In extreme weather conditions, damaging elements that could enter into
the vent are blocked by the StormStop membrane in Rigid Roll Plus and
Rigid Vent Plus. StormStop is a revolutionary spun-bound material that
keeps moisture out while allowing continuous airflow. The StormStop
material is 71% open and 29% closed, meaning that water will bead up
on the material and roll back out of the vent.

Performance
Trimline Rigid Vent Plus provides superior
ventilation without the need for a baffle. Trimline
vents efficiently exhaust damaging, hot air at the
hottest point, the ridge line. The exclusive StormStop®
membrane allows for effective ventilation while keeping
nature’s most extreme elements from entering into the
attic space. Additionally Trimline Ridge Vents have been
airflow tested in dusty environments according to ICC
standards with no reduction in airflow.
Attractive Appearance
With a low profile or high profile, Trimline Rigid Vent Plus
provides effective ventilation while virtually disappearing into
the roof line. Trimline Ridge Vents create the most attractive,
straight and even roof line. Trimline’s innovative design does
not require unattractive baffles, eliminating the need for
numerous unsightly vents protruding from the ridge line.
One-Pass™ Installation

/8” Low Profile Product virtually disappears into the roof line
and can be used for most applications.
Trimline Rigid Vent Plus offers One-Pass Installation,
securing cap shingles and vent with the same nail.

• /8” Low Profile enables the use of a coil nail gun with no
crushing or compressing.
• 1” High Profile hand nail in one pass for quick installation
with no crushing.
1” High Profile Product can be used when ridge space is
limited, because it provides 19” NFA per lineal foot. The 1”
profile also provides a unique shadow line highlighting the
ridge line while maintaining a straight, clean, baffle-free ridge
line when a distinctive high profile look is desired.
• Trimline Rigid Vent Plus can be easily trimmed to any
length using a utility knife.

wasted utility dollars. If an attic
has a properly balanced system, the
airflow will move from the bottom
of the attic to the top, pushing out heat and moisture
in a natural flow using air pressure, thermal effect and
diffusion. If the system were to be unbalanced, and the
Net Free Area (NFA) at the ridge is higher than at the
eave, a reverse airflow can occur causing an opposite
effect to what is desired. The airflow will come from the
top of the house and push down toward the eaves. As a
result, heat and moisture are not allowed to escape and
additional air and moisture can be drawn into the home.

means one
square foot of
ventilation for
every 300 square feet of attic. Another ratio is 1:150,
which actually provides more ventilation, 1 square
foot for every 150 feet. In addition, specifications for
good attic ventilation require a balanced system with
at least 50% of the vents at the eave and 50% at the
upper portion of the roof. (In cases where 50:50 balance
cannot be achieved, always provide more than 50% of
the ventilation at the eave). Check local code for proper
amount of ventilation required.

The most important factor in roof ventilation is
the need for a balanced system. This means for
every inch of air exhausted, it must be balanced
by providing the same or greater
amount of air intake at the eaves.

rain from outside the home
or moisture vapor from inside
the home. In either case, this moisture can remain trapped
between the exterior cladding/siding and the building paper/
house wrap. This unvented moisture can have a negative
impact on the siding or cladding system as well as the building

mold and mildew, causing potential health concerns and an
unhealthy living environment. Unvented moisture can also
severely reduce the service life of siding systems, paint or stain.

Flow-Thru Furring Strips are a practical and easy
venting solution that are made of a corrugated highdensity polyethylene. Flow-Thru Furring Strips provide
both a vertical channel for air and moisture to vent
and drain out as well as a horizontal channel to allow
air movements; this minimizes the potential water and
vapor penetration of the exterior wall. Trimline FlowThru Furring Strips are approved primarily for lowrise construction, for most exterior cladding systems,
including wood, fiber-cement, vinyl siding and stucco,

• Trimline Flow-Thru Furring Strips will save the
homeowner money, both at the time of installation and
in the long run. The long-term savings results from not
having to pay for repainting or residing as often with FlowThru Furring Strips.
• Air nailed without collapsing or

construction.
• Compatible with most caulks and
sealants.
• Easily installed, requiring no special fasteners and no
corrosion issues.
• Won’t crack or split and easy to handle and store.
• Every piece is dimensionally die cut so every piece is a
consistent size and shape unlike wood battens.
• The ventilation from Flow-Thru Furring Strips behind
siding will extend the life of the fiber cement, cedar and
stucco siding.
• Cuts easily with a utility knife.
• Bug screen not required.
• Ideal for starter strip for siding applications.
• House paint will last longer because the tannis can leach
from the back of cedar siding if not back-primed and ruin
the house wrap’s water repellency.

Performance
Trimline’s Flow-Thru Battens’ unique design offers
many features that provide long-term superior
performance for tile roof applications.
• Durable corrugated plastic allows water to drain under
the tiles, eliminating build-up of moisture, snow and
ice that can lead to leaks. It reduces premature re-roofing
caused by water damage and poor air circulation.
• Open-batten design provides ventilation by allowing air to
move under the deck and the tiles.
• Plastic design creates a gasket effect which eliminates
leaking around fasteners.
• Taller than traditional wood battens, Flow-Thru
Battens keep the tile lug from making contact with the
underlayment, reducing the chance for leaks.
Quick
and Easy
Installation
Flow-Thru Battens are
engineered to make installation
easy while minimizing tile
breakage after installation.
• Easily installed with a coil
nail gun or staple gun and
won’t crack or split.
• Eliminates the need for lath and batten (counter batten)
systems, offering a substantial savings in labor and a
reduction in material used.
• Unlike warped or knotty wood battens, each Flow-Thru
Batten is consistent in quality, ensuring no waste in any
bundle.
• Every piece is dimensionally die cut so every piece is a
consistent size.
• Cuts easily with a utility knife for a perfect fit.

VariaFlash
Performance
• Trimline VariaVent Ridge Vent combines ridge
ventilation and variable weather blocking in one
product. Each vent comes in a 4-foot sections with
aluminum weather blocking already attached.
• The variability of the weather blocking will allow
the vent to fit any tile and metal on the market,
while forming a weather-tight seal, meeting the Tile
Roof Institute’s requirements for weather blocking and
ventilation.
• VariaVent allows venting at the hottest point, the ridge
line. This eliminates attic hot spots, reducing cooling costs
by removing hot moist air from the attic, prolonging the
life of the roof.
• Trimline VariaBlock variable closure solution for hip/ridge
on tile and metal roofs is a durable and flexible weatherresistant product that can be used where weather blocking
or mortar is required: head wall, hip, ridge and gable end.
• Trimline VariaFlash universal flashing is the most
expansive flashing available for flat or barrel tile roofs.
VariaFlash will expand 40% in both directions, forming a
weather-tight seal.

Ridge Vent
41&7%65
6175'
Installation Instructions
Ridge Preparation for Trimline® Ridge
Vent Installation with Spanish and French
Translation
The amount of ventilation is controlled by the length of slot
cut along the roof ridge. For the most attractive roof line, it is
recommended that Trimline Ridge Vents are installed along
the entire ridge of the roof.
1. Ridge Ventilation Slot Preparation
Installation
The slot may be pre-cut on a new roof before or after shingle
installation or in a retrofit, the slot can be cut from the preshingled roof using a circular saw with a carbide tip blade.
(Protective eye
goggles should
be worn during
this process.) For
Trimline low
profile vents, cut a
2” slot (1” on each
side of ridge) along
the ridge(s). For a
roof with a center beam, a 31⁄2” slot should be cut (13⁄4”
on each side of ridge). For Trimline high profile vents,
cut a 21⁄2” slot (11⁄4” on each side ridge). For center
beam applications a 4” slot should be cut (2” on each
side of ridge). A minimum of 6” must be left uncut
on each end of the ridge. Once the slot is cut and any
overlapping shingles covering the ridge are trimmed
and removed, the ridge is ready for vent installation.
2. End Cap Installation
Pull apart a pre-cut section of the foam end cap found with
the vent. Using a utility knife, make a cut in the StormStop®
material 1⁄2” on each side, back from the end of the section.
Using construction adhesive or sealant caulk, coat both sides
of the StormStop material where it has been cut back at
the end of the vent. Insert the foam end cap with the cutback StormStop material between the foam end cap and the
underside of the vent to assure a weather-tight seal. Because
of the popularity of dimensional roofing material such
as 40/50 year and lifetime laminated shingles, we require
that a bead of sealant be applied to the roof shingles before
installing the vent on the ridge. This sealant should fill any
voids between the bottom of the vent and the surface of
the shingle. Use either butyl sealant conforming to ASTM
C1085, latex sealant conforming to ASTM C834, silicon
sealant complying with ASTM C 920 or asphalt roofing
cement complying with ASTM D4586.
3. Vent Placement on Ridge
Attach vent to the roof deck by driving a nail in each of the
two corners on both ends of the vent. Also, drive two nails
through the vent
and foam end cap to
hold foam in place
on the ends of the
ridge only. Nails
should penetrate
the wood roof deck
at least 3⁄4”. It is
not recommended
to nail vent to
ridge prior to cap shingle installation. Because of the
popularity of dimensional roofing material such as
the newer 40/50
year and lifetime
laminated shingles,
we require that
a bead of sealant
be applied to
the roof shingles
before installing
the vent on the
ridge. This sealant
should fill any voids between the bottom of the vent
and the surface of the shingle. Use either butyl sealant
conforming to ASTM C1085, latex sealant conforming
to ASTM C834, silicone sealant complying with ASTM
C920 or asphalt roofing cement complying with ASTM

2. Ubicación del
respiradero en la
cumbrera
Extienda o coloque
el respiradero
Trimline a lo
largo de toda la
longitud de la
ranura cubriendo
también las 6
pulg. sin cortar
de la cumbrera en
ambos extremos.
Cuando use los
productos Rigid
Roll, asegúrelos
en la arista de
trabajo, colocando
un tapón en el
extremo. Extienda
bien el respiradero
y asegúrelo a
aproximadamente
10 pies (3.04m).
Extienda bien
el resto del
respiradero
y asegúrelo
colocando el tapón
en el extremo.
Se pueden unir
longitudes
múltiples del
respiradero
15
D4586. Roll out or place Trimline vent along the entire
length of slot also covering the 6” minimum uncut ridge on
both ends. Bend
vent into a “V”
Shape. When
using Rigid Roll
products, secure at
the lead edge after
inserting the end
cap. Nail should
penetrate roof deck
a minimum of 3⁄4”.
Pull the vent tight and secure at about 10 feet. Pull the rest
of the vent tight and secure, inserting the end cap. Multiple
lengths of vent can be joined by butting the sections tightly
together. End caps should be inserted at the beginning and
end of each section. Do not pre-fasten ridge vent along the
entire vent; with Trimline’s One-Pass Installation, it is not
necessary to pre-fasten the vent every 2’ to 3’ prior to cap
shingle installation.
Installation

moins 1,3 cm.
3B. Note: For “Class A” Installation Only
For “Class A” Trimline® vent installation, follow steps 1, 2,
3 as stated above. Once the vent has been installed, use a
utility knife with a hook
blade and remove the
corrugated plastic center
section of the vent. Do
this for the hip and ridge.
This modified installation
meets the requirements for
UL790 “Class A,” standard
installation meets the requirements for UL790 “Class A.”
Follow remaining steps 4 as stated.

4. Cap Shingle Installation
Using One-Pass™ Installation secure cap shingles and vent
at the same time. Nail ridge caps with roofing nails in a
common, overlapping pattern. Nails should penetrate the
wood roof deck at least 3⁄4”. For the fastest installation, a coil
nail gun can be used as long as the minimum penetration
is 3⁄4”. It is important when installing this vent that you
maintain the pitch of the roof. The vent has been installed
properly if the
bottom of the vent
is flat on the roof
and the peak is
slightly rounded.
4. Instalación de
las tejas de remate
Con One-Pass
Installation asegure
las tejas de remate
y el respiradero
al mismo
tiempo. Clave
las cumbreras de
remate con clavos
para techos en
un modelo típico
de superposición. Los clavos deben introducirse al menos
1

Installation
Jt
Determine how long of a hip and ridge ventilation slot will
be required according to 1/300 rule. The ridge and hip
ventilation slot may be pre-cut on a new roof before or after
shingle installation or in a retrofit, the slot can be cut from
the pre-shingled roof using a circular saw with a carbide tip
blade.

slot 6” from point where hip and ridge meet. For Trimline®
low profile vents, cut a 2” slot (1” on each side of ridge)
along the ridge(s). For a roof with a center beam, a 31⁄2” slot
should be cut (13⁄4” on each side of ridge). For Trimline
high profile vents, cut a 21⁄2” slot (11⁄4” on each side of
ridge). For center beam applications a 4” slot should be
cut (2” on each side of ridge). If entire ridge requires
ventilation, stop ventilation slot 6” from point where
hip and ridge meet. To maintain structural integrity,
one continuous slot is not recommended on hip
applications. Start ventilation preparation by leaving
6” of hip uncut from where the ridge and hip meet.
Cut a 31⁄2” wide slot for ventilation. Hip slot should
be 18” in length, spaced with a 12” uncut area
between each 18” opening. The slot for ventilation
should not be cut any lower than the top 1⁄3 of the
roof to maintain a balanced ventilation system.
2. End Cap Installation
Pull apart a pre-cut section of the foam end cap found
with the vent. Using a utility knife, make a cut in
the StormStop® material 1⁄2” on each side, back from
the end of the section. Using construction adhesive or
sealant caulk, coat both sides of the StormStop material

between the foam end cap and the underside of the vent
to assure a weather-tight seal. Because of the popularity of
dimensional roofing material such as 40/50 year and lifetime
laminated shingles, we require that a bead of sealant be
applied to the roof shingles before installing the vent on the
ridge.
This
sealant
should fill
any voids
between
the
bottom of
the vent
and the
surface of
the shingle.

ASTM C834, silicone sealant complying with ASTM C920
or asphalt roofing cement complying with ASTM D4586.
Roll out or place Trimline vent along the entire length of slot
also covering the 6” minimum uncut ridge on both ends.
When using Rigid Roll products, secure at the lead edge after
inserting the end cap. Shape vent in V Shape. Pull the vent
tight and secure at about 10 feet. Pull the rest of the vent
tight and secure, inserting the end cap. Multiple lengths of
vent can be joined by butting the sections tightly together.
End cap should be inserted at the beginning and end of each

plastic center section of the vent. Do
this for the hip and ridge. This modified installation meets
the requirements for UL790 “Class A”; standard installation
meets the requirements for UL790 “Class C.” Follow
remaining steps 4, 5, 6 as stated.
5. Hip and Ridge Vent Transition
Using a utility knife, trim the end of Trimline Ridge Vent
from the hip to the ridge. This creates the most attractive
ridge and hip line. Insert the foam end cap under the

3. Vent Placement on Ridge
1. Ridge Ventilation Slot Preparation
Cut the slot prior to installing the last course of shingle
panels along the ridge in a re-roof or new construction
application (protective eye goggles should be worn during
this process). For Trimline® Plus
low profile 7” vents, cut a 2” slot
(1” on each side of ridge) along
the ridge. A minimum of 6”
must be left uncut on each end
of the ridge. Once the slot is cut
then measure and cut shingle
panels to fit along the ridge; panels should not obstruct the
slot. Once the panels are installed, the ridge is ready for vent
installation.
Retrofit with Stone-Coated Steel
Installation
If stone-coated steel is already installed, the slot can be
cut from the pre-paneled roof using a circular saw with a
combination blade (reversed) or a Tenryu Steel Pro blade
(protective eye goggles should be worn during this process).
For Trimline Plus low profile 7” vents, cut a 2” slot (1” on
each side of ridge) along the ridge. A minimum of 6” must
be left uncut on each end of the ridge.
22
2. End Cap Installation
Pull apart a precut section of the foam end cap found
with the vent, usually found in the first 3 feet of the
roll. Use a utility knife to make a cut in the StormStop
material 1⁄2” on each side, back from the end of the
section (See
insets). Using
construction
adhesive or
sealant caulk,
coat both sides
of the StormStop
material where
it has been cut
back at the end
of the vent. Insert the foam end cap with the cut-back
StormStop material between the foam end cap and the
underside of the vent to assure a weather-tight seal.
800-438-2920
www.trimline-products.com
Before installing the vent on the ridge a bead of sealant is
required between the stone-coated steel and the underside of
the ridge vent. This sealant should fill any voids between the
bottom of the vent and the surface of the panel. Caulking
and sealants shall be suitable for exterior use and be resistant
to weathering; use either butyl or polyurethane sealants. The
caulking and the sealants shall be compatible with and adhere
to the materials to which they are applied. Check sealant

Fasteners should penetrate the wood roof deck at least 3⁄4”. It
is recommended to fasten the vent to ridge prior to stonecoated steel hip/ridge cap installation. Vent should be secured
every 5”.
4. Cap Shingle Installation
It is important when installing this vent that you maintain
the pitch of the roof. The vent has been installed properly
if the bottom of the vent is flat on the roof and the peak is
slightly rounded. Install hip/ridge caps per manufacturer’s
installation guide. Each hip/ridge piece should clip together
by inserting the return (at the nose of each piece) into the
back clip which is located at the top of the hip/ridge cap
section. Fasten cap to vent

Ridge Vent Application in
Seismic and Wind Designs
According to the APA-The Engineered Wood Association,
continuous ridge vents, like Trimline and Trimline Plus, can
be used in conjunction with a roof diaphragm and meet the
requirements to withstand lateral loads in seismic and high
wind designs. Trimline and Trimline Plus can be used in
unblocked as well as blocked roof diaphragms.
Installation
According to the APA with
an unblocked
diaphragm, there is
no requirement for a
connection to be made
0$.1%-'&
between unsupported
+#2*4#)/
edges of adjacent panels.
With an unblocked diaphragm-type construction Trimline
and Trimline Plus ridge vents can be installed with no
modification to the published installation instructions. In
an unblocked diaphragm, only the 4-foot wide panel ends
occur over and are nailed to common framing. This is
the most common type of diaphragm used in standard
residential construction.
26
According
to the APA
Accor
with
wi a blocked
diaphragm, the use
of a continuous
ridge vent is
slightly more
challenging because
.1%-'& all edges of all
+#2*4#)/ adjacent panels
must occur over
and be attached to common
framing. This
com
additional nailing provides a greater number of
fasteners available to transfer shear from one panel to
another, thus increasing the overall shear capacity and
rigidity or stiffness of the diaphragm. This is as true
for the ridge as it is for other panels occurring in a
common plane. This can be done by placing blocking
in alternating spaces between the rafters or joists. At
the location where there is not blocking, the slot at the
ridge that is cut for venting, is increased in width to the
required opening for proper ventilation. At the location
800-438-2920
www.trimline-products.com
where there is blocking, the required nail spacing shall be
halved, so that twice as many nails are present to make this
connection in every other space.
How is proper attic ventilation achieved with
alternating blocking in a blocked diaphragm
application?
With alternating blocking the determining factor for NFA
(Net Free Area) is the width of the slot cut at the ridge of the
roof. Since the length of the allowable venting area along the
ridge is cut in half. The width of the slot is increased to
2.5” to insure proper ventilation.
When venting with a blocked diaphragm, warm air travels
through the unblocked sections of the ridge, flowing over
the blocked sections of the ridge and exiting along the entire
length of the ridge vent. The warm air from the attic space
will be properly vented using this application. Trimline

These charts represent the
minimum length of Trimline
vents, in combination with
soffit ventilation, required to
properly ventilate your attic
space. Determine the square
footage of attic space by
multiplying length x width
of the house. Find your
approximate square footage
on the chart and read across.
Rigid Roll Plus or Rigid Vent Plus Ridge Vent, and the
minimum square inches net free area of soffit ventilation
required. These charts utilize the F.H.A. Standard for Static
Ventilation as found in H.U.D. Requirements for Proper
Ventilation - Ref: M.P.S. 403.3. They use the 1:300 ratio
(1 sq. ft. of ventilation for every 300 sq. ft. of attic space).
Trimline numbers are rounded up to the nearest foot.
The numbers in these charts reflect the minimum lineal
footage of slot which should be cut into the ridge. For
the most aesthetically pleasing roof line possible, it’s
recommended that the Trimline ridge vent be installed along
the entire ridge and hips of the roof. See page 27 for metric
conversions of the charts.

nailing board by 3⁄4”.
Installation
Step 2
Form VariaVent Ridge Vent’s
weather-blocking material to
tile roof surface. Take care that
weather-blocking aluminum
area does not press to the surface
of the nailing board preventing
proper airflow. A 3⁄4” space
should be between the weatherblocking material and the center
nailing board.
Step 3
Remove protective strip from
back of adhesive tape on back
side of weather blocking.

Press VariaVent Ridge Vent
weather blocking into pans
of each tile. VariaVent Ridge
Vent can elongate to form the
barrel to pan closure. Make sure
that the edge area of VariaVent
Ridge Vent’s weather blocking
is thoroughly pressed to tile to
assure a weather-tight seal.
Step 5
When joining two pieces of
VariaVent Ridge Vent together
at the ridge, insert the excess
StormStop membrane under
the new 4-foot section. The
aluminum should fit together
along the folds. Butt 4-foot vent
sections together until they meet
and nail in place to center board.
Step 6
Cut off excess amount of
VariaVent Ridge Vent at end of
hip or ridge with knife or sheet
metal shears.
Step 7

Trimline® Ridge Vent FAQs
Q. How does StormStop® work?
A. The membrane material used in Rigid Roll PLUS™ is a
spun-bound non-absorbent plastic. Twenty nine percent of
our membrane is fiber. The other seventy-one percent is open.
This lightweight membrane makeup allows air to pass through
but stops water. Water pools on the surface of the membrane
but is not allowed to penetrate it.
environment in which it operates. A baffled venting system
only operates at its optimum efficiency when the wind passes
perpendicularly over the baffle at a precise angle. If there is
no wind over the baffle it does not aid in venting of the roof.
In addition, your ridgeline has to be facing the way the wind
blows for the baffle to perform. A baffle alone will not provide
adequate continuous ridge ventilation; it must be a part of a
balanced system.
Q. Will StormStop reduce airflow?
A. Actually, the airflow of a ventilation system is determined
by the Net Free Area of the vent, the slot width and the
ventilation at the eave or soffit (a balanced system). The
recommended slot width for installation of Rigid Roll
PLUS™, when used with a balanced system, provides adequate
airflow for efficient ventilation.
Q. How easy is installation?
A. The product easily rolls out and is quick and easy to install
using a coil nail gun. There is one simple additional step when
inserting end-caps. A small cut in the membrane must be
made to assure a proper seal at the end of the vent. See
page 14.
Q. What is the NFA of the product?
A. The Net Free Area of the product is 12.7 inches per lineal
foot for the low profile product and 19 inches per lineal foot
for the high profile product.
Q. Has the product been tested?
A. Yes! The product has been put trough rigorous research and
development testing at Architectural Testing Institute in York
Pennsylvania. The results:
Q. Will the StormStop filter clog?
A. Actually, the material is not a filter, but is a special
membrane. Unlike products with a filter, the material is
non-porous and will not allow matter such as dirt or loose
insulation to lodge within it. Products that actually use a filter
material are susceptible to clogging.
• It withstood tests similar to DADE County protocol of 8.8
inches of rain per hour with 110-MPH winds and easily
passed.
Q. You do not have baffles, so will this product perform as
well as baffled products?
A. The most crucial element to the performance of a
ventilation system is that it is in balance. If an attic has a
properly balanced system, the airflow will move from the eaves
and the bottom of the attic to the top, pushing out heat and
moisture in a natural flow using air pressure, thermal effect and
diffusion. If the system were to be unbalanced, and the NFA at
the ridge is higher than at the eave, a reverse airflow can occur
causing an opposite effect to what is desired. Baffles have no
effect on achieving a balanced system. For a system to be in
balance there must be an equal or greater amount of intake at
the eaves than what is being exhausted at the ridge.
• It also passed the ICC snow simulation test at 35 MPH and
70 MPH with no infiltration. Trimline Ridge Vents meet
the conditions of acceptance of the Dust Exposure Test with
no reduction in airflow.
• Trimline Ridge Vents are certified for performance by
Miami-Dade, Building Officials and Code Administrators
International, International Conference of Building
Officials, International Code Council, Texas Department of
Insurance and Underwriters Laboratories Class A or C.
Q. What pitches can it be used on?
A. Rigid Roll and Rigid Vent PLUS™ can be used 3/12-20/12.
Q. Can this product be used on hip applications?
A. Yes, the same Trimline Ridge Vent that is used on the ridge
will work well in hip applications. See page 18.
Q. What other reasons is a non-baffled product better than a
baffled product?
A. Baffles are unattractive and easily seen on the roof. In addition,
plastic baffles can break off or deteriorate over time. Baffles
also are susceptible to clogging from leaves and other debris.
Q. Do Trimline Ridge Vents work with any other applications?
A. Trimline Ridge Vents work on hip, and Trimline Multi
Roll™ Vents work on eave intake, ridge exhaust and shed
applications. Trimline Ridge Vents also work under various
types of roofing materials such as flat tile, cedar shakes and
shingles, stone-coated steel and metal. See pages 17-24.
Q. What about the Bernoulli effect?
A. The Bernoulli effect has to do with wind passing over an
object. When venting, a baffle is only as effective as the
Q. What kind of warranty do Trimline Products have?
A. Rigid Roll® PLUS and Rigid Vent PLUS™ carry a
manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty! See page 34.
