Nisos Yacht Charter
Nisos Yacht Charter is a British family owned and run business. We focus on providing
bareboat and skippered charters in the Ionian Sea, Greece. Our base is at the village of
Perigalia, on the east coast of Lefkada (Lefkas) island in the centre of the Ionian Sea.
From here you are perfectly placed to either head north up to Corfu and Paxos or south
to Meganissi, Ithika, Kefalonia and Zakynthos.
Our base is run by Laurie Campbell, who has over 20 years of chartering experience in
the Ionian. As soon as you arrive at our base (by private taxi) you are in good hands.
Laurie and his all British team are there to ensure that your holiday runs smoothly and
are contactable at all times in case you need any assistance.
The Ionian is perfect for relaxed cruising holidays. With typical winds of F4, clear warm
waters, flat seas and numerous bays and villages to stop at, it really is the perfect, safe
idyllic sailing area.

Our base
We believe that the quality of
our boats and of the service
we provide to our clients is of
paramount importance. We
are renowned for the work
we put into making sure that
the yachts are supplied in an
immaculate condition.
Our business is highly
dependent upon repeat
business, reputation and
recommendations – this only
comes from supplying quality
yachts and a quality personal
service.

Bareboat Charters
Exploring the Ionian islands on your own yacht,
with no restrictions on when and where you can
go, is the ultimate way to spend your sailing
holiday. This is what bareboat sailing is all about.
You pick up the yacht from our base, and after a
thorough briefing on the safety aspects and
operation of the yacht and a briefing on the sailing
area, you are free to leave. The majority of our
clients leave our base on the day of arrival.
You can keep in touch with us by VHF or mobile
phone throughout the week if required, to get
weather updates and itinerary ideas. At the end of
the week you return the yacht to base on the
morning of departure.
In a one or two week holiday you can explore the
islands of Lefkas, Meganissi, Kefalonia, Ithica and
Kalamos. If you wish to go further afield, Corfu
and Paxos to the north and Zakynthos to the south
are all achievable.
What if we need assistance?
If at any time during your trip you need
assistance then we are on call 24 hours a
day. We have a fast RIB (the ex Sidmouth
inshore life boat) on standby, and can be
with you very quickly.
What qualifications do I need to go bareboat?
Ideally the skipper should have an RYA Day Skipper practical and theory certificate or
an ICC. If you do not hold any qualifications, then do not despair – give us a call and
talk us through your experience. If there is any uncertainty then we advise that a
skipper accompanies you for a day or two to ensure that you are happy and safe!

Assisted Bareboat Charters
The Assisted Bareboat Charter programme was set up at the request of
clients, who wanted the freedom offered by a bareboat charter, but with the
safety net the flotillas provide. It ran for the first time in the summer of 2006
and has been a tremendous success.
How it works
We place a maximum of five yachts into a mini flotilla group, with a lead boat
(which is usually doing some training) and lead crew. There will be a set
itinerary which will be designed in conjunction with yourselves, and the lead
crew will be at the pre-determined destination each evening to ensure that you
get a safe berth for the night.
With only five yachts to look after, the lead crew can give you the time and
attention which you deserve, and you are free to arrive at the destination when
you like – so that you can stay out and enjoy the late afternoon/early evening
winds.
The lead crew will encourage you to think like you are sailing bareboat, but will
be there to advise on suitable berths, and to help out if things get a little out of
hand….!
If at anytime, you wish to leave the group, then you are free to do so.
The costs
The cost for participating on the Assisted Bareboat Scheme is only £200 per
boat per week on top of the normal bareboat price.

Skippered Charters
For those who want to learn to sail or just have
someone do the hard work for them, then why not take
one of our skippers on board with you?
Our British skippers have lived and worked in the area
for a number of years, and know the all the places to
go, so that you get the most out of the holiday.
If you want to learn to sail, then they will have you
sailing the boat on your own within the week, with just
the skipper keeping a watchful eye on proceedings.
The skipper will require their own berth on the boat
and will sleep onboard. We realise that this is your
holiday, and the skippers are very conscious that you
have your own time together and try and factor in your
desires and wishes as much as possible.
A typical day will include sailing to a new destination
every evening, with a good lunch stop for snorkelling
and swimming in beautiful bays. You will visit a new
village every evening.
A skipper costs £80 per day. It is expected that they
are included in your eating plans.
“Dave Hodge the skipper, was
excellent. We had doubts
about how a stranger would fit
in with our holiday, especially
in the close company of a boat,
but Dave's relaxed and obliging
attitude worked out just fine.
His knowledge of the area,
ports and tavernas was
excellent. Shame he did not
catch us any fish though!" Jerry Horton and family

Spring / Winter Charters
Out of season sailing – massive savings!
The typical season in the Ionian runs from the beginning of May to the end of October.
This is driven by our local airport – Preveza Airport, which closes outside of this period.
The sailing outside of this season can be fantastic. Incredible scenery, mountainous
islands and the whole Ionian pretty much to yourselves!
We keep a few of our boats in the water over the winter for the owners use, and we can
make them available for clients as well, at a much reduced price. For example, Cloud
Nine, Bavaria 44 (4 cabin) for £800 per week (normal low season price is £1,600).
Travel to the Ionian will need to be via Athens and hire car, which we can help to organise.

holiday?
We have devised pre charter courses with two UK partner sailing schools, which cover the
basics you may need in the Ionian - All Points West in Swansea and Total Sailing in
Windermere . These are practical courses on board yachts in non tidal waters.
Call us to discuss
• Stern to mooring with a bow anchor
• Tripping tangled anchors
• Close quarter manouvering
• Setting a kedge anchor
• Clearing prop wraps, fuel blockages, holding tanks
• Mediterranean meteorology
