THE NEXT GENERATION OF WONDER
In 2015, WonderLab welcomed its one-millionth visitor to the museum, an achievement
made possible through the support of community members such as you. Thank you for
helping us reach this incredible milestone!
As you read through this report, WonderLab is working on “The Next Generation of Wonder,” a
road map that will guide how the museum serves its next million visitors. This plan will
include new and improved gallery space and exhibits with more hands-on science
experiences for visitors of all ages. The first major upgrade to the museum galleries will be the
installation of a new coral reef aquarium in 2017. This interactive exhibit will allow visitors to
delve deeper into the science and wonder of an amazing coral reef for many years to come.
Other planned improvements include installation of digital signage in the museum entryway.
This will facilitate improved communication of upcoming events and programs, as well as
donor and sponsor recognition.

In 2015, thanks to generous donor support,

people experienced hands-on science experiences at WonderLab.

of visitors came from outside Monroe County, bringing tourism
revenue to Bloomington - 87 of 92 Indiana counties were represented.

visitors took advantage of the Access Pass Program for Indiana
families with low incomes, attending WonderLab for just $1 per person
(up 42% from 2014).

visitors took advantage of reduced or free admission days.

children and chaperones experienced WonderLab through field trips.

children enjoyed free group admission through social service agencies
that serve families with low incomes, such as the Boys and Girls Clubs.

The major exhibition, Science from A to Z, opened in the summer of 2015 and continued
into early 2016. As part of this exhibition, WonderLab added the Bed of Nails exhibit to its
permanent collection.
