February 2014 BEN donation was from South and West Wales!
In the February 2014 issue of the NTDA News, it was reported that the NTDA’s South West Region had
made a donation of £3,663 to BEN. This was an error, as it was, in fact, the members from South and
West WALES that had raised this money. The money was donated to BEN on behalf of his region, by the current
NTDA Executive Council representative and Honorary Life Member Derek Evans of Heath Tyre Services Ltd, who has served
the region on the Executive Council for 25 years. On the 11th November 2014, Derek announced that he would like to
stand down as the regional representative and although he intends to remain involved with the NTDA, would like another
member to take his place in representing the interests and needs of the region’s members. Members interested in this
position should contact the Director via email: [email protected]
The NTDA Winter Ball presented by the North West and North Wales Region
The Winter Ball, held at the Hilton Hotel Blackpool on
29th November, proved to be another fantastic evening of
networking for the tyre industry, with retailers, wholesalers,
manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers all coming
together to socialise and raise money for charity.
The NTDA Director Stefan Hay, who gave an address at
the event, stressed to the guests the importance of such
social networking saying: “From my own experience I know
that more deals are made around the dining table than the
board table. Next year, I would like to see twice as many
people at this great event and would be delighted to see
members from other regions getting involved”.
Todd Sale and the team from leading motor factor and car parts
distributor CES UK gave outstanding support to the Winter Ball
The charity raffle and auction raised more than £1,800 for
BEN and F.O.R.M.E. the region’s chosen charities. Bridget
Urch Regional Chair said: “This was a tremendous event
for both the region and the NTDA as a whole and I would
like to thank all who attended and a special thank you to
those who generously donated to the raffle and the auction
making it a very successful and most enjoyable evening”.
The 2015 Winter Ball will be held on Saturday 28th
November, again at the Hilton Hotel, Blackpool.

Northern Ireland Tyre Industry Awards and Ladies Night another major success
The NTDA Northern Ireland Region also celebrated in style
on the 29th November at the Roe Park Resort in Limavady.
A hundred people were treated to excellent food, live
music, NTDA Northern Ireland’s own Tyre Industry Awards
and, of course, plenty of ‘craic’.
Continental Tyre Group Ltd won NI Manufacturer of the
Year, Tyre Call Ltd won Wholesaler of the Year, and DM
Supplies (NI) Ltd won the award for Non-Tyre Supplier of
the Year.
The Chairman’s Award for ‘meritorious’ service to the
Northern Ireland Tyre Industry was presented to industry
stalwart William H. Nutt, who has been in the trade since
1979 and has been a staunch supporter of the NTDA
throughout his career. Derek Hill of Tyre Call was this year’s
recipient of the Des Fullam Memorial Award. Regional
Chairman Dasos Michaelides of Donnelly Group said:
“This was a fantastic night for the NI region with twenty
two companies attending. We would like to thank all our
sponsors and companies that donated fantastic prizes for
the raffle. A special mention for William H. Nutt and a thank
you to our Vice Chairman Mr Lawrence Reavey for his very
kind words when making his service award presentation”.
