What is Happening at Seeds This Month?
The Parent Advisory

and presentation in Town
Park .
On June 13th there will be

going on the website and
donating. Seeds is

Relay For Life - June 21st
Most of us have known people whose lives have been touched by cancer. It is amazing
to think that millions of people will be diagnosed with cancer this year. Along with
research and discoveries the American Cancer Society helps the individual and
families with gas and/or hotel vouchers, providing wigs and prosthesis, free mammograms, prostrate exams, and other support services.
This is an opportunity to honor cancer survivors, remember people we have lost, and
help raise funds for groundbreaking research, information and services for people
fighting cancer. A Relay For Life event gives us the power to make a difference and
fight back.
There are several ways you can help Seeds give back to the community with this
event. Check out the website www.archuletarelay.org

Parent Advisory Committee
The Parent Advisory Committee had a busy end-of-the-year!
The Park Clean-Up Day was a success. We had a great turnout! Thank you to all of the families who came and gave back
to our beautiful community.
We also had an end-of-the-year bash at Kips to celebrate
another fun season at Seeds. It was so exciting to see all of
the families who came to show their support. A big thank
you to Kips and to Paul Hoffman for his awesome music.
The Parent Advisory Committee is taking a break for the
summer, but will be back in September for our first meeting.
Miss Angie is stepping down and Miss Ruby is filling that gap.
Bumblebee News
The Bumblebees have been very busy
trying to stay healthy and active. We
always enjoy our morning dancing time
with Miss Debbie. Our favorite songs
are “The Wheels on the Bus” and
“Move It! Move It! “ We also enjoy
our large motor time in the back room.
Riding bikes, playing with balls and
climbing on the play structure are
among our favorite activities.
This month we are going to start
adding a few more activities to help us
stay healthy and fit. We will be
adding morning exercises to our dance
time with Miss Debbie. In the
afternoon outside time we will be
starting to do stretches and
Page 2
exercises as well. In addition we will
continue to eat healthy lunches and
snacks.
Please Help!
We would love to create a healthy
eating Bumblebee cookbook. If you
would like to participate, please bring
in a healthy snack or meal recipe. We
will be compiling all of our recipes to
create a book for everyone. Here is
to being healthy!

Butterfly News
Many of our Butterfly friends are
off to Kindergarten! We
celebrated with friends and family
at our preschool graduation
ceremony on May 16th.
Beginning in June the Butterflies
are learning about personal health
and wellness. The children are
learning how to make healthy food
and activity choices. In the morning
we will be spending an extra 15
minutes outside. The extra time
will be spent doing group exercise
activity and stretches. Our leader
of the day will help us lead these
activities. The Butterflies will also
have a weekly family goal for students
and parents to complete at home.
Activities will include: nature walks,
family bike rides, and healthy cooking
projects!
Miss Ruby, Miss Melissa, and Miss
Amber are also setting healthy goals
by walking, training for a 1/2
marathon, eating healthy, and
participating in the Wellness Program!
Check out the whole food blog:
www.100daysofrealfood.com for some
great ideas on cooking with whole
healthy ingredients!
Mr. Bob reads to us every Friday, showing
us all about spiders and dinosaurs.
Dragonfly News
Spring is here. The sun is shining.
The garden is growing and “welcome”
is our big word this month.
The Dragonflies are happy to
“welcome” our new friends from the
Bumblebee classroom.
With the opportunity we have to
be outside more often, we want to
remind parents to bring jackets
for mornings and sun hats. We will
be exercising more often with our
teachers to maintain a healthy
balance.
And we “welcome” Miss Amanda, our
new Teacher Aide, who will be smiling
at us every day from 8-5.
Then we are also excited to say,
“Welcome Back!” to Miss Lyndsey, our
returning Assistant Teacher, who will
be loving us from 9:45-5:30.
We wish Miss Angie the best as she
moves on to new adventures. She will
be greatly missed and will be in in our
hearts forever.
Ladybug News
In our society it seems that we
hear three words that we live by:
live, laugh, and love. As preschool
teachers, it is our goal to teach our
students not only such values as
mentioned, but to also give them
knowledge to keep healthy so that
they can live life to the fullest.
After our last staff training, it was
brought to our attention that in
this day in age, one’s health is more
important than ever. With children
being “parrot” learners, we as a
team have decided that the change
needs to start with us, the
teachers. Hence the reason that
Operation Ladybug has
commenced.
June 2013
Dinosaur School is in session. Wally teaches
about our feelings.
It is our goal to not only become
healthy ourselves, but to make it fun
so the children will want to join in.
Being healthy not only involves eating
healthy and exercising, but growing
the imagination as well. In Operation
Ladybug we will have longer recesses
where we can participate in such
activities (but not limited to) as:
nature walks, picnics with healthy
snacks prepared by the kids, growing
a garden and students helping with
the up keep, kickball, baseball,
soccer, traveling to fairytale land and
playing knights and dragons,
discovering new planets … the
possibilities are endless. We would
like to create a “Roxaboxen” type
atmosphere where the imaginations
of the children run our lessons of
nutrition and exercise. Please stay
tuned for monthly tips and
activities that we use in Operation
Ladybug.
