THE PRESIDENT’S CORNER
This is the time of the year when most of us reflect on the past year and focus on the year to come. As
we become older this process seems to come more rapidly than when we were younger, yet it is a good
time for reflection. As I reflect on 2014 as it concerns the Tailwinds Bicycle Club, I feel it was a very
good year. Our core group of riders put on some good miles this year, we had a very successful
Windmill Century bike event, we gave away many bikes, helmets, and locks to school children in Santa
Maria, the “3 foot law” was passed in CA, we adopted a highway and have a sign on the “new” Santa
Maria bridge bike path, and we enjoyed the fellowship and exercise riding with our fellow TW members.
Thank you all for your contribution in making this a great year.
In looking forward to 2015, I hope for continued success for the Club and good health and happiness for
all of you and yours. I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions – if you want to do something new or better
you don’t need a new year to start it – but I do hope to ride more than last year and hopefully ride in two
centuries in 2015. For the Club I would like to see some more and new members, more emphasis on
bike safety, bike give-a-ways, bike routes in Santa Maria, and, of course, a great Windmill Century in
2015.
Have a safe, healthy, and happy new year!
Ken Dally
President
