According to the UEC, 45.5 percent of the winners of country’s parliamentary seats have been announced. The newly formed Myanmar Press Council has 24 members with U Khin Maung Lay, aka Pho Thaukkya as Chairman, U Pe Myint and Dr Myo Thant Tin as Vice Chairpersons, and U Thiha Saw as Secretary. Representatives of attending nations proposed 281 suggestions to address human rights issues in Myanmar. Attorney General of the Union Dr Tun Shin said his country agreed with 124 points, denied 69 and reconsidered 88. He went on to say that denials had to be made because the suggestions did not take into account the country’s ongoing contributions to the promotion and protection of human rights. Local and foreign observers were allowed access to the 8 November election, the attorney general said, adding that this re- ƀGEVGFJQYOWEJGORJCUKUVJG country placed on human rights issues. He urged the international community to give constructive support to the country’s democratic reforms.
