12-18 mo class is considered an adult class; all sweepstakes entries must
also be entered in a regular conformation class too.
Included in the entry fees: A $3.00 Event Service Fee for the first entry of a dog and a $3.00 Event
Service Fee for each additional entry of the same dog will be collected by the American Kennel
Club for all Regular AKC classes (fees do not apply to Non-Regular Classes). A Recording Fee of
$0.50 will also be collected for each entry of a dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club
Obedience. At every licensed or member club rally trial, a recording fee of $ 3.50 shall be
required for the first entry of each dog & a recording fee of $ 3.00 shall be required for each
additional entry of the same dog. These fees are collected by the show giving club and are paid
to the American Kennel Club. (New AKC Rule Effective September 1, 2011)

SWEEPSTAKES
Entry fee $8.00. Sweepstakes is open to all Shetland Sheepdogs who, on the day of
the show, will be six (6) months of age and over and under eighteen (18) months of
age. Champions of Record are NOT eligible. Dogs shown in Sweepstakes must also be
entered in one of the regular classes at the regular entry fee and on the regular entry
form shown as “Additional Class”.

35% of entry fees will be retained by the club to cover expenses. The remaining entry
fees for each class will be divided as follows:

AKC Junior Handler Numbers are now required for entry in Junior Showmanship Competition.

Entry Requirements:
1. The Four to Six Month Puppy competition shall be for Shetland Sheepdogs that
are four months of age & over but under six months on the day of the competition.
2. AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for entry.
3. All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian’s protocol.

Judging:
1. Exhibitors should open their dog’s mouth for examination.
2. Male puppies without 2 fully descended testicles need not be disqualified or excused but the judge’s book must describe the condition.
3. Dogs with breed standard disqualifications should not be excused but may not
receive placements.
4. Dogs with age related disqualifications such as un-descended testicles, height ,
teeth, etc are permitted to receive awards .
5. Dogs must be excused for attacking a person or other dogs.

The Club requests that all exhibitors maintain a neat and tidy area. Exhibitors
are responsible for cleaning up their areas following the show. To aid the club
in clean-up, we ask that the grooming room be vacated by 3pm on Sunday if
weather permits and judging is being held outdoors.

The Felicite Latane Sanctuary has an Adoption Center that is open to the
public. It is advised that your dogs be current on all vaccinations. Soliciting
sales and For Sale signs are strictly prohibited.

The BSA Venture Crew 344 will be available to help with unloading and
loading. Tips/donations to support the troop are acceptable and appreciated.

Food will be available for sale on site. BSA Venture Crew 344 will be
catering lunch. Hot dogs, Hamburgers and snack items will be offered.
Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate will be available in the building at no charge. A
drink machine with soda is available in the building
Exhibitors and guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and shade.
Early November weather can be quite variable, so expect anything, but
typically mornings can be quite chilly and afternoons quite warm.
Please clean-up your space. We use the agility field for our rings and
grooming. Please help us retain this location. Remove all debris and hair from
the ground around your grooming space.

DIRECTIONS TO SHOW
FROM I-85/I-40: Take the Mebane (southwest bound) or Mebane Oaks Road
(northeast bound) exit. (Exit 154). Turn south (away from Mebane). Go 6 miles. Turn
left onto Nicks Rd. The Sanctuary will be 0.5 miles on the left.
FROM CHAPEL HILL/CARRBORO: Take Hwy 54 West from Carrboro approximately 9
miles. Turn right onto Mebane Oaks Rd. Go 2 miles, turn right onto Nicks Rd. The
Sanctuary will be 0.5 miles on the left.
ATTENTION EXHIBITORS
The Show Site will be available to exhibitors at 4pm, Friday, November 11, 2011. No
dogs may be left in the building overnight.
All dogs and equipment must be removed from the building immediately following
Best of Breed judging on Sunday, November 13. Vendors must remove themselves
from the building by 3pm on Sunday.

Entry Fees: Conformation Classes:$26.00 for the first entry of each dog. Each addi
tional entry of the same dog is $18.00. Puppy (6-9 mos and 9-12 mos), Bred-byExhibitor and Veterans Classes are $18.00. Junior Showmanship is free. Sweep
stakes is $8.00 (must also be entered in a regular class).
Obedience and Rally Classes: $26 per entry. $18 for Veterans Obedience, Non-Regular
classes, and 2nd entry of same dog.

Entries not on official forms or photocopies of entry forms without the Agreement and Rules on
the reverse side of the official AKC entry form will not be accepted. Owners are solely responsible for errors in making out entries.
There will be NO REFUND for duplicate entries.
Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging and will be released if not needed for further
judging.
Dogs must be ready for judging. Neither the Club nor its Show Secretary will be responsible or
obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class Judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dog in the judging rings.
The Club reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
RETURNED CHECKS do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Secretary will add a collection
fee to the amount of each returned check.
Entry fee will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian (except where noted in Premium list) or Judge, or barred from competition by action of
the Show Committee. No entry fees will be refunded if the Show cannot be opened or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire and Act of God, public emergency, act of a
public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club or the Show Secretary.
The show giving Club, the Show Secretary, their agents, employees, etc. assume no responsibility
or liability for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers or to any of their
dogs or property and further assume no responsibility for injury to children or spectators.
No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any condition as to its
acceptance. Entries will not be accepted without fees or signatures.
Changes, additions or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing prior to close of
entries.
ALL TROPHIES AND RAFFLE PRIZES MUST BE CLAIMED THE DAY OF THE SHOW – NONE WILL BE
MAILED.
All prize money will be presented in the ring to the person handling the dog.
NO camper hookups.
Grooming in designated areas only. Handlers are responsible for keeping their areas clean.
Please clean up after yourself and your dog(s).
In the building: All crates must be stacked. No X-pens allowed. No space for unentered dogs.
Food and drink will be available at the show site.
Children must be kept under control at all times, no strollers or like apparatus allowed in show
building.
Exhibitors should follow their Veterinarians’ recommendation to assure their dogs are free of
internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations.
