Since the mid–60s, when Sunoco and the Roger Penske Racing Team with Mark Donahue forged what would be a long and successful alliance, the company has grown into an industry powerhouse. Today, Sunoco has expanded the reach of its racing fuels line around the world to include all types of professional motor sports and other activities where premium racing fuels make a difference. As the largest manufacturer and refiner of racing fuels in the world, Sunoco has a 40–year track record of winning performances. With an expanded product line, Sunoco offers drivers more choices than ever before. Sunoco blends everyone of its race fuels in–house, then, it analyses and tests each batch under strict laboratory conditions. Born out of the Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR team, Driven Racing Oil has been pioneers of oil technology for over 10 years. All the Driven products are race proven and backed up with countless hours of dyno and development time. Taking this to a new level in 2013, sees the introduction of mPAO synthetic high temperature, viscosity stable base oils to offer even better levels of performance and protection. The race range of oil has now been complimented by a wide range of performance road oils bringing the benefits of using Driven Oil to a much wider audience. Kleers After two years of research and introduction Kleers car care products was launched in 2010. Since then its products have received praise and acclaim on a global scale and consequently more innovative ideas in car care were introduced. 2012 saw the development of the Kleers motorsport range; a series of intelligent products that are aimed at racers and teams that compete in all forms of motorsport – either at a professional or amateur level. R Racing Anglo American Oil Company’s own brand ‘R Racing’ has the ability to manufacture and produce the very best bespoke fuels and lubricants for the racing market. With our in depth understanding and knowledge of motorsport, we can respond to market demands and produce products not readily available from the major manufacturers. PJ1 track compound PJ1 track compound is used by the fastest drag strips throughout the world to improve traction at the start of the drag strip. PJ1 is the recommended track compound of NHRA. All data quoted accurate at time of print T he 2012 introduction of the ISC Racers Tape has gone smoothly and encouraged us to look for another brand to compliment our product range of high quality racing products. It is therefore great to be able to introduce Kleers motorsport range to you for the 2013 season. Kleers, founded by racers Andy and Rob Barnes, specialise in high end detailing car care products but being racers the brothers saw a gap in the market and launched the Kleers motorsport range during 2012 after 2 years of R&D. We have given the products their own section in the catalogue to be able to tell the full story – that these products are being used by current F1 teams as well as grass root racers proves that they do the business. Our two driver challenges, the Sunoco Daytona Challenge and the Sunoco GRAND-AM Challenge, have performed really well this year taking new racers to Daytona. The idea to give not only a once in a life time opportunity for the challengers, but also the opportunity to showcase their driving skills to some of America’s top endurance racing teams has proved very popular. This has been amply demonstrated with Felipe Nasr, the podium finishing 2012 Rolex Challenge winner, being invited back by the Action Express team to drive for them in the 2013 Rolex 24 At Daytona. The 2013 Sunoco Daytona Challenge winner Ivan Bellarosa from the SPEED EuroSeries set a new average points record and hopes to be on top of the podium with top running Starworks Daytona Prototype team - exciting stuff! Lawrence Davey, our second winner of the Sunoco GRAND-AM Challenge will find himself behind the wheel of a roaring Camaro in the GRAND-AM 200 race on the same weekend as the 2013 Rolex 24 - quite a change to the Legends car he is used to racing! Our suppliers are continuously working behind the scenes developing and refining their products and this year’s innovative prize must go to Driven Racing Oils with the introduction of the mPAO synthetic base oils taking viscosity stability to a new level. For 2013 our focus will remain the same - high quality products paired with unrivalled technical support and fast delivery service. Good luck for the next season and let us supply you the products that take the luck out of racing! Brand values ISC racers tape ISC racers tape is the most used racing tape in the States. It comes in a variety of colours with excellent quality and a keen price tag. Fairtrails Tuffjugs We have marketed the Tuffjugs in Europe for quite a few years and with its unique dry–break nozzle sales are booming. They are approved for mid–race refueling by the MSA in the UK. Sunoco_UK Sunoco UK AAOIL 3 Sunoco Daytona Challenge Sunoco Daytona Challenge Grand–Am explained The GRAND-AM Road Racing Association, founded in 1999 in Daytona Beach, is now in its second decade of competition and begins with one of the hardest 24hr endurance races in the world – the Rolex 24 At Daytona, on the last weekend of every January. In late 2008 GRAND-AM became integrated in the NASCAR establishment giving the organisation even more strength and credibility. The key behind GRAND-AM’s success is giving the race experience back to the fans and it’s something that they pride themselves highly on. Built 1958, 3.56 miles road course, 31 degree banking, total infield area 180 acres GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series The GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series offers extremely competitive sports car racing and features two classes of cars, exotic Daytona Prototypes and sleek GT machines that run simultaneously on track. Rolex Series races are measured in time, not distance, and require more than one driver at the helm. Typically a two–man team competes in the shorter, sprint events which last anywhere from two to three hours. For the longer and more difficult races, such as the Rolex 24 At Daytona or the Six Hours At Watkins Glen, a three-to-five man team will contend. In addition to taking on tyres, refuelling and making chassis adjustments, driver changes are also required during the race. Daytona Prototype Class (DP) The DP class consists of striking, mid-engine machines purpose built for close, door–to–door competition. General Motors were the first to put a adapted Corvette body on a DP chassis with stunning results. Speeds in excess of 190MPH means that these cars are packed with the latest in safety and technology. Power in excess of 550 BHP and a low weight of 1,025 kg means that these are very exciting cars to race and results in top runners running neck–to–neck over the finishing line. Grand Touring Class (GT) The GT class consists of American muscle cars and exotic European sports cars that most fans can identify with: Audi; Chevrolet; BMW; Ferrari; Porsche etc. Similar to European GT3 specification but with enhanced focus on safety these GT cars are gaining momentum amongst sports car fans. Typically the wonderfully sounding engines produce between 450–500 BHP. in a Daytona Prototype giving them a fantastic opportunity to showcase their skills in front of a 50,000 plus crowd. Last year Felipe Nasr, our 2011 season winner and British F3 Champion, exceeded all expectations and finished 3rd overall – this year, as a result Felipe has been drafted in as a pro–driver with Action Express! Two years ago we introduced the Sunoco GRAND-AM Challenge for the rest of our control fuel championships and what a success that has been. This year’s winner Lawrence Davey from Legends beat over 120 other drivers and will now race a Chevrolet Camaro in the 200 mile race the day before the Rolex 24! GRAND–AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge The Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge features sports cars from manufacturers worldwide, straight from the showroom floor, racing side–by–side with only minor modifications. The only improvements made are in the area of safety. There are two classes that compete continuously on track – the GS and the ST classes. Grand Sport Class (GS) GS Cars have engines that generate between 350-405 BHP, which equates to speeds in excess of 160 MPH. This class includes Aston Martin Vantages, BMW M3s. Chevrolet Camaros, Porsches and Ford Mustangs and many other high profile sports cars. Street Tuner Class (ST) ST cars can reach speeds in excess of 130 MPH but there are no V8s allowed, only four- and six-cylinder engines are permitted. Mazda Speed 3s, Ford Focus ST–Rs, Volkswagen GTIs and Honda Civics are examples of ST cars. Easy to drive but needing skill to master these cars are ideal to start with if your ambition is to get onto the GRAND-AM racing stepladder. Freezing in Europe or sunbathing at Daytona Beach? January in mid to Northern Europe can be a bit cold and gloomy and that is precisely why we love going to the Rolex 24 At Daytona every year! Not only is the Rolex 24 one of the most exciting and fierce races we’ve ever been to, featuring qualifying pace throughout the race and cars finishing within fractions of seconds year after year, but it also gives us a chance to enjoy Florida sunshine and recharge the batteries before the European racing season starts in April. Sunoco Challenges and the Rolex 24 At Daytona For the last 4 years the Sunoco Daytona Challenge has been introducing a winner from our top Sunoco fuelled championships into the highest level of American Sportscar racing by placing them 4 Anglo American Oil Company Ltd • +44(0)1929 551557 • www.aaoil.co.uk • [email protected] Sunoco_UK Sunoco UK Join us at Daytona Going to the Rolex 24 At Daytona is easier than what you think. Sunoco Daytona Challenge For the fourth year running the Sunoco Rolex 24 At Daytona Challenge is giving one lucky winner the chance to race at Daytona in the Rolex 24. The participating series for 2012 were the SPEED EuroSeries and the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship. The drivers scored points ranging from 100pts for first place down to 5pts for tenth place, with 20pts on offer for pole and fastest lap. The Radical UK Cup produced the first two winners of the Challenge. Derek Johnson, the inaugural winner, and 2011 winner Ross Kaiser both proved themselves to be worthy winners and have been excellent ambassadors for the event. The 2012 Challenge was won by the 2011 British Formula 3 champion Felipe Nasr. Nasr, who currently races in the GP2 series, raced the #6 Michael Shank DP car and exceeded all expectations when he drove the car home in third place. This year saw SPEED EuroSeries champion Ivan Bellarosa take the Challenge win after scoring the highest point score in the history of the Challenge with 124.38 average points. From the first SPEED round at Paul Ricard, Bellarosa showed an extraordinary level of driving when he took both race wins. He was then consistent throughout the season, taking eight out ten race wins, and winning the SPEED EuroSeries title – with three races left. 37–year–old Ivan Bellarosa is part of team Avelon and races a Wolf racing GB08. Bellarosa was born in Switzerland and currently lives in Brescia, Northern Italy – close to the Wolf racing factory where is a factory driver as well as an active promoter for the cars. Ivan started racing in both international and regional karting championships, with his father and brother forming his team, from 8 years age and moved up through the rankings with various championship wins. Bellarosa then made his car–racing debut at 18 in Formula Panda, the Italian equivalent of Formula Ford, and took the best rookie of the season award. In 2000 he then moved up into Italian Formula 3 where he again took best rookie after finishing second overall in the championship and first out of the b–class cars. Between 2002 and 2006 Bellarosa unfortunately suffered from budget constraints and could only compete in part season in various formulas, however his best achievement was in the highly respected Formula 1 feeder series, World Series by Renault FR 3.5, where in 2004 in Monaco Bellarosa finished sixth– a fantastic achievement for a racer which had barely had any FR 3.5 experience. 2007 saw Bellarosa move into prototype racing with Avelon and in 2008 he finished second overall in the Italian Prototype CN Championship before taking the championship win in 2009 – however it was 2010 which saw Bellarosa and his family working with Wolf Racing and bring the car manufacturer into Prototype racing. In Ivan’s Wolf Prototype debut he fantastically took the win – replicating Jody Scheckter and his Wolf Racing debut at the 1977 Argentinean GP where he also took a win. In 2011 Bellarosa entered the SPEED EuroSeries in order to promote the Wolf chassis along with his team Avalon Racing. Bellarosa took six wins however due to other commitments missed some of the rounds, yet still finished a strong third overall in the championship. 2013 will see Ivan Bellarosa face his biggest challenge to date – racing in a Daytona Prototype, with a top team, in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Aside from the Rolex 24 drive, Bellarosa’s prize for winning the Sunoco Daytona Challenge also includes pre–event testing in America plus all travel and accommodation expenses. Participating series* for the 2013 season Bellarosa’s closest competitors were fellow SPEED EuroSeries competitors Anthony Gandon and Gugliemio Belloti. However due to Bellarosa’s dominance in the series no one could compete with his score, allowing him to cruise to victory. 2013 sees the Challenge continue. Once again SPEED EuroSeries and Britcar racers are eligible, plus 2013 sees the Radical SR3 Challenge and Radical Masters EuroSeries return to the Challenge. As the name implies this is a 200 mile race and driver changes are compulsory. The race is being held on the Friday before the Rolex 24 so it comes with all the razzmatazz of the Rolex race. To prepare the Challenge winner for the big race the prize also includes an opportunity to participate in the ‘Roar before the Rolex 24’, a 3 day test in early January, where most teams are trying out their new drivers and new components for the Rolex 24 race weekend. Included in the prize is travel, hotel and the cost of the seat so the only thing that the winner needs to do is bring his helmet and licence! The winner will gain the full American experience and be racing in an American muscle car such as a V8 powered Chevrolet Camaro. The points are awarded exactly as per the Sunoco Daytona Challenge meaning that the racer gets points for where he finishes, 100 points for first down to 5 for tenth. There are also 20 points for fastest lap and pole position available. Due to the different number of races per series in a year the racers’ points are divided by the number of races in the respective series to create a fair average point score – the highest average wins! Our first winner Aaron Steele, who won the Sunoco GRAND– AM Challenge on an impressive 113.00 average points, after dominating the MSV F3 Cup in 2011, had a fantastic time in Florida when he raced the Mitchum Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro around the 31 degree steep Daytona banking. Unfortunately a gearbox gremlin resulted in a DNF but it was still an unforgettable experience for Aaron. The 2012 season saw 123 racers fight long and hard to win the Sunoco GRAND–AM Challenge. The eligible championships for this year were: GT Cup, MSV F3 Cup, Dunlop Production Touring Car Trophy, Legends, Dutch Supercar Challenge, Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship (classes 3 and 4) and the Britcar production Cup Championship. The 2012 season was closely contended throughout but it was Legends racer Lawrence Davey who drove away with the prize. Lawrence went into the Legends final round needing to score 307 points over the six races to win the race seat in the GRAND–AM 200 race. With two second places and a win already under his belt, Lawrence went into his fourth race knowing that a fourth place finish or higher would seal the deal. Crossing the line in first saw Davey take the 100 points on offer towards the challenge – his 17th win of the season. He ended the round with an average point score of 85.94. Lawrence’s closest challenger was Gary Duckman from the Dunlop Production Touring Car Trophy who finished second in the overall standings, just four points behind Lawrence, with an average point score of 81.60. Gary had a great season but unfortunately suffered from a mix of different sized grids meaning he didn’t always receive full points. Legends racer Dean Brace also had a great season and finished third in the overall standings with 78.02 points. The beginning of the season saw a few DNF’s for Brace and unfortunately this lowered his average point score. The Sunoco GRAND–AM 200 Challenge continues for the 2013 season – giving promising drivers a perfect platform for a professional racing career. This means that all racers must use the nominated fuel for all races. We support these series by being on site across the whole race weekend, including any official test days. Fuel is delivered to each competitor in drums and we collect any empties after the meeting has finished. Spare fuel is always available and unused, sealed drums can be returned. We test fuel samples on site with our own FTIR infrared spectrometer, which produces a very accurate chemical graph of the fuel, which is compared against a reference sample. The advantages to a series of running a control race fuel are: • Our very consistent race fuels help protect engines from detonation worries and reduce component wear • Creates a level playing field for all the competitors 10 • Removes the legal issues that teams or individuals can face when transporting large volumes of fuel • Forecourt petrol stations limit the amount of fuel that they will sell in cans. Although not enforced at all forecourts, this can make the collection of large volumes of fuel not only time consuming but difficult • We work closely with the series organisers to develop a range of joint marketing iniatives Official fuel supplier Some series prefer to leave fuel as a free choice for the competitors, but like the option to have our support at their events, for those racers who like to use a race fuel. Our service operates in exactly the same way as a control fuel arrangement, apart from the fact that no testing is carried out and marketing support is reduced. Anglo American Oil Company Ltd • +44(0)1929 551557 • www.aaoil.co.uk • [email protected] We have been working within the historic market since 2004 offering a leaded fuel service with 100 RON and 105RON fuels available for sale by the litre. We are the official fuel supplier to the Masters Series, HSCC and HRDC, supporting all their UK events and Selected European rounds as well. Competitors are free to source their own fuel, but an increasing number choose to use our service. Our fuels remove the need to use other octane or lead replacement additives, which can if over treated, cause misfiring. Mixing the 105RON with pump fuel will also give a very cost effective race fuel, which will offer good levels of protection for a comparatively low compression race engine. The recent trend within the rally community has been to move to controlled refuelling using mobile refueling equipment operated by a professional team, within a dedicated area. This has been driven by a number of factors, not least the desire by event organisers to limit the damaging effect on the local environment in terms of possible fuel spills and empty cans being left behind. We have been servicing the British Rally Championship since 2008 providing a range of fuels by the litre. FTIR sample test results Super Unleaded Batch No. 531 Sunoco RMR Batch No. 526 Pallet service For a limited number of series, we arrange to have all fuel orders delivered to the race event by pallet service, for the series themselves to take delivery and distribute amongst the racers. Works well for low volume events and removes the need for teams to transport their own fuel. Home delivery Our biggest group of customers are those that order fuel by phone, email, internet or fax to our office. We are happy to send a single 25 litre drum or orders making up several pallets, using our hazardous transport partner, Clark Transport, who operate a 3 day or next day service for any orders processed before midday. Sunoco_UK Sunoco UK AAOIL 11 Radical Radical Radical Racing Radical create a complete sportscar racing ladder and reduce racing costs The 2013 season will be big for Radical Sportscars, with a brand new novice championship and a re–alignment of the current championships to create a staircase that could take a beginner all the way to a drive at Le Mans or Daytona and they are doing it while offering packages that are more cost effective than ever before. Win any of the championships and you will be rewarded with works drive in the opening round of the following season in the next championship up – think of it like winning promotion in football. However should you win the Radical Masters Euroseries championship – the Radical equivalent of The Champions League if we are to keep the football analogy going – then you will win more than just a large trophy. You will get a funded test in an LMP2 car. And of course the Sunoco Daytona Challenge is also up for grabs for drivers in the Euro Masters and the SR3 Challenge, while the Clubman’s Cup racers are in the running for the Sunoco Grand-Am 200 Challenge. SR1 Cup Devised to encourage drivers to take the step up from trackdays, the SR1 Cup wraps everything you need in one easy, cost effective package. It includes Radical’s entry level sportscar, the SR1, an Alpinestars racesuit, and a comprehensive training and race programme. This begins with the race licence procedure (for those who need it), followed by two instructor–assisted trackdays, and a competitive Bedford Autodrome ‘How Fast’ event. It all culminates with eight races at some of the best circuits in the UK, all for £37,500 plus VAT. Open to drivers who have either never held a race licence before, or are still eligible to wear a novice cross on the rear of the car (meaning they have competed in less than six races), the SR1 Cup will lead the drivers through the process of getting on the grid, with a detailed programme of driver training and technical tuition. The SR1 is a two–seater sportscar that benefits from Radical’s knowledge and expertise gained from building some 1500 race cars since 1997, and is powered by a 1340cc RPE–Suzuki engine modified to suit both racers in the early stages of their development and be extremely reliable with very low running costs. It weighs just 480kg, and therefore with its 185bhp still has a power–to–weight ratio that would shame most supercars, plus it has the benefit of downforce. The level of aerodynamic grip has not been set as high as in the ever–popular SR3 RS, but it has enough to ensure the SR1 retains its balance and cornering speeds exceeding those of any saloon–type racer. It will run on Dunlop road tyres and drivers will be limited to two sets for the entire year to keep costs in check. The championship begins with an ARDS race licence test at Bedford Autodrome, including a medical (for those already holding a race licence the cost of the 2013 renewal will be covered), before two seminars take place. The first explains everything that happens during a race weekend, from signing–on to taking the chequered flag, along with circuit driving theory, circuit driving techniques 12 and how to prepare yourself for what lies ahead. The second details everything you need to know about preparing the car. The SR1 has been designed to be both easy and inexpensive to maintain and Radical’s works team engineers will explain just how to do it. From there the drivers will take their cars to the first of two exclusive Radical trackdays, one at Snetterton, the other at Brands Hatch – both circuits that these novice racers will compete at later in the season. There will be instructors on hand to guide the drivers, timing will be possible and there will even be the opportunity for them to try practice starts with the full countdown procedure and start lights. With these trackdays under their belts and the adrenaline rush Anglo American Oil Company Ltd • +44(0)1929 551557 • www.aaoil.co.uk • [email protected] from driving these thrilling race cars still fresh, it will be time for the drivers to take part in their first competitive event – again held at the Bedford Autodrome. ‘How Fast’ is like a trackday with a twist. After a one hour ‘free practice’ session (run to trackday rules), each car is fitted with a transponder and sent back onto the track one at a time for two flying laps – the fastest of which counts. It’s the perfect step towards qualifying because the races are now not far away. The races will be held at Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Oulton Park and Cadwell Park, some of the finest circuits in the UK. By September next year the first ever Radical SR1 champion will be crowned and along with the trophy they will win a Works drive in the opening round of the 2014 Radical Clubman’s Cup in an SR3 RS. Sunoco_UK Sunoco UK Radical Clubman’s Cup Continuing a deserved reputation for producing packed grids, fascinating racing and a close title battle, the 2013 Radical Clubman’s Cup promises to be another great year, with the ever–popular sprint racing format offering the ideal next step in sportscar racing. The 2012 radical Clubman’s Cup attracted over 25 entries for every round and with over 28 cars regularly seen taking the start, it’s a testament to the value for money with high-speed action that the series guarantees. The Radical SR3 is eligible for these single–driver 20–minute sprint races (double–headers at all rounds), and it is arguably the most popular race car in the world with over 800 now sold over its decade of production, and with well over 100 sold in AAOIL 13 Radical Radical 2012 alone it shows no signs of waning. You can also race a single– seat PR6, and for those drivers who are too experienced for the SR1 Cup, they can be raced here, as this will where those novice drivers will race in 2014. The 2013 Radical Clubman’s Cup now covers eight months of competition, visiting the UK’s favourite race circuits. Many rounds will be televised through Radical’s pioneering on–demand web TV service, Radical TV, and on Motors TV, with increased marketing presence through continued association with MSVR. Radical SR3 Challenge Building on the success of the Radical SR3 RS, this new championship is open only to drivers of this model of Radical and each round features two 40–minute races that can be shared by two drivers or completed by one with a compulsory pitstop. It is the fastest one–make sportscar series in the UK. The SR3 RS is powered by the RPE four–cylinder, 1500cc engine and it’s a proven class winner, not only in Radical’s single–marque race series, but many other multi–marque championships around the world too. First launched in 2002, the SR3 RS incorporates a six–speed sequential transmission, and drives via the Power Drive gear drive system, developed in partnership with Quaife especially for the SR3. With an integral torque–biasing differential, this reliable, easy– to–maintain unit is one of the SR3 RS’s strengths, offering strong traction out of corners. Swapping gear ratios to suit specific tracks is a straightforward job. The SR3 RS features Radical’s FIA–specification crash box and central safety cell, whilst styling cues taken from the SR9 LMP2 car, including the high–nose front–end, offer not only dramatic styling, but also advanced aerodynamics, with a full–underfloor diffuser for leech–like grip. Dunlop tyres, developed exclusively for the SR series, complete the package. The sight of a full grid of these hugely successful, high–speed racers will be something to behold in 2013, the racing is sure to be as intense as ever, and if it’s anything like any of the 2012 championships the championship will still be up for grabs on the last lap of the final race. The Radical Masters EuroSeries This is the pinnacle of Radical racing, a championship held on the very best circuits Europe has to offer and open to both SR3 and SR8 drivers. The format is similar to the SR3 Challenge, but the racing takes place at Portimao, Paul Ricard, Silverstone, Spa, Monza and Barcelona. The level of competition is high and the speed of the SR8s is comparable to LMP machinery. 14 The SR8 is a trackday and racing car like no other, the SR8 RX redefines the word ‘performance’ and has no equals. It is Radical’s ultimate racer, and it provides the definitive visceral driving experience. Physics–defying grip, relentless acceleration and powerful brakes add up to a two–seater track car that can lap Silverstone in the same time as a Formula 3 single–seater. The SR8 RX shares similar styling and safety features with its sibling the SR3 RS, but it beats with a different heart. The latest generation of RPE’s acclaimed RP V8 engine, powers the SR8 RX through a unique RPE/Quaife six–speed transaxle. Coupled with the RPE paddleshift system and auto–blipper, flat upshifts and clutchless downshift are part of the package. The SR8 RX’s gearbox was described by former F1 driver Alex Yoong, as having “the best gearchange I’ve driven outside of F1.” Anglo American Oil Company Ltd • +44(0)1929 551557 • www.aaoil.co.uk • [email protected] The SR8 RX’s new RPE 2.7 litre RPX V8 engine develops an incredible 430bhp and is suitable for use in a variety of Radical series around the world and this was the same specification used by Michael Vergers to set the production car lap record around the fearsome Nürburgring Nordschleife in August 2009. With the best engine this side of a Le Mans car, it has been comprehensively proved that the Radical SR8 RX is the fastest point–to–point road–legal track car money can buy and the Radical Masters EuroSeries is the best place to race it. As control fuel supplier we support the series by being on site across the whole race weekend delivering fuel to each competitor and collecting any empties after the meeting has finished. MSA British Endurance Championship The MSA British Endurance Championship caters for out and out GT cars from Le Mans levels of performance such as Porsche 911 RSR’s and Ferrari GT2’s down to GT4 cars such as Aston Martin GT4 and Ginetta G50s. Races are a minimum of three hours in length with mandatory pit stops to allow for driver changes and refuelling. The championship is usually the headline event at race meetings and has support from the Britcar family of races. The 2012 championship was action packed throughout with the title of ‘2012 MSA British Endurance Champions’ going to the Bullrun team of Richard Adams, David Green and Martin Byford in their factory supported Lotus Evora GT. All Endurance entrants must use one of three control fuel options available, which are: Super Unleaded 97 RON, RJTS 101 RON or Sunoco CF 102 RON. All racers which choose Sunoco CF are eligible for the Sunoco Rolex 24 At Daytona Challenge where the ultimate prize is a race seat with a top team in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Britcar Production Cup Championship The companion championship to the MSA British Endurance Championship is the Britcar Production Cup Championship. It caters for less tuned and more road based cars and is a mixture of production saloons, endurance specials and older GT4 cars. All of the races last 90 minutes, with the exception of their stand alone 1000k race at Silverstone in September. In 2012 Class 3 competitors Harry and Edward Cockhill took the title in their Honda Civic after a close and competitive season. All Production Championship entrants have the choice to run one of the Endurance class control fuels or to source their own fuel. All competitors using one of the control fuel options in the championship are eligible for the Sunoco GRAND–AM 200 Challenge, where they could win a seat in the GRAND–AM 200 race which is the support race to the Rolex 24 At Daytona. down. Cars will be balanced into three different classes to give competitive racing, and the race weekends will take the format of 30 minutes qualifying followed by two 45 minute races. Each race will encompass a compulsory pitstop to allow for driver changes to allow racers to share the costs of competing. Britcar 1000k Replacing the Britcar 24hrs for 2013 is the 1000k weekend where both the British Endurance Championship and the Britcar Production Cup will get stand alone 1000k races on the famous Silverstone Grand Prix circuit. The races will form part of the overall championship for both series with the Production Cup enjoying the atmosphere of a race into the night on the Saturday and the MSA British Endurance Championship headlining Sunday afternoon. The Britcar 24hrs at Silverstone is planned for a return in 2014 where it will continue on a bi–annual basis into the future. The 2012 Britcar 24hrs was a fantastic event with almost all weather conditions imaginable throughout the weekend. The eventual victors where the Geoff Steel Racing/MP Motorsport team of Mark Poole, Richard Abra, Clint Bardwell and Michael Symons in their BMW M3 GTR, narrowly beating the factory supported Mike Brown entered Aston Martin GT3 with the British marque, completing the podium with another giant killing performance from an Aston Martin GT4 of Perfection Racing from Denmark. For the 24hrs and this year’s twin 1000k races we supply Sunoco race fuel directly to the back of the teams’ garages. The teams are only allowed 2 x 200 litre drums per car therefore we continuously feed the drums to garages throughout the race collecting empty drums and replacing them with new ones. www.britcar24hr.co.uk Britcar Production Sportscar Races The Britcar Production Sportscar Races is a new for 2013 series of standalone race meetings catering for an ‘entry’ level into endurance racing. To minimise environmental impact on public areas such as woodland the BRC introduced centralised refuelling to give a safe, single refuelling facility at all of its events. Using a control fuel supplied from managed refuelling rigs negated the need for the carriage of fuel to and from events by individual teams meaning a safer and cleaner public environment. As the BRC enters its 55th year, its move to a two-wheel-drive only formula continues, providing manufacturers, teams and competitors with a chance to achieve outright victories on the international rallies that make up this world–renowned series. Alongside the British Championship, the national two wheel drive championship, the NGK Spark Plugs BRC Challenge, also features two-wheel-drive cars with no age restriction and no need for homologation. Attracting leading teams and independent drivers from the UK, Europe and as far afield as Australia, the BRC is a proven high–profile championship with a winning formula. Its regulations and event formats provide close competition, which allows the development of vital skills and speed, in addition to generating great camaraderie between the competitors and teams. Past drivers and winners form an international roll of honour, featuring some of the greatest names in sport: Hannu Mikkola, Pentti Airikkala, Ari Vatanen and Stig Blomqvist. The class structure offers career racers, seasoned privateers, and new race drivers a competitive environment where overall championship victory is achievable. The series is increasingly seen as a training ground for the touring car drivers of the future. The 2013 season is set to build on a highly successful season for the UK’s best MINI championship, which featured busy grids and a host of close racing. MINI Challenge will also make its first European visit for six seasons in 2013, with four races planned at the demanding Dutch circuit of Zandvoort. Other highlights will include three races on the full–length Snetterton 300 Circuit to kick–start the season on April 6/7 and a second headline spot on MotorSport Vision’s popular MINI Festival event at Brands hatch on June 22/23. MINI Challenge head Paul Harvey said: “We wanted to go bigger and better for next season’s 20 calendar to provide even more of a test for the drivers and we’re delighted with the fixtures we’ve lined up. “The MINI Challenge is enjoying a lot of interest so we felt that the time was right to go back into Europe and Zandvoort is a perfect venue because it’s easy to access and cheap to travel to. It is also a very demanding circuit and with four races taking place there it should play a key role in the championship fight. “We’re also delighted to again be headlining the MSVR Mini Festival for a second season. In 2012 the F3 Cup gained championship status from the MSA, and coupled with rules allowing 2007 specification cars and a wider use of engines, the category blossomed. F3 Cup regularly attracted grids in excess of 20 cars producing an extremely competitive championship battle. The championship will continue to cater for F3 chassis constructed from 1980 up to and including 2007. A total of 42 competitors took part in the championship which came down to the wire with three drivers in contention to become the inaugural F3 Cup champion at Snetterton 300. Highly rated young racer Chris Dittmann managed to hold off Tristan Cliffe and Gino Ussi to win the championship and the prize FIA Formula Two test drive. He followed in the footsteps of Aaron Steele, who won the Sunoco GRAND–AM 200 Challenge in 2011, securing him a drive at the prestigious Daytona Speedway. The growth of the championship in 2012 was magnified when Red Bull F1 protégé and 2012 Macau GP winner Antonio Felix Da Costa took part in the final round at Snetterton 300. British F3 star Alex Lynn also enjoyed success in the championship recording a double victory at the European round held at Spa Francorchamps. The championship is set to continue its growth in 2013 where it will visit the UK’s best circuits including Brands Hatch GP, Silverstone GP and Donington Park GP. www.f3cup.co.uk GT Cup Organisers of the GT Cup have announced a raft of fresh ideas for the 2013 season. The seven round Championship will provide nineteen races and feature the most prestigious circuits in the country. The format remains ideal for solo drivers, and has also been subtly tweaked to accommodate two driver team entries. Each two day round will have one 40 minute race with a compulsory pit stop on the Saturday, and two twenty five minute sprint races on the Sunday. The Saturday will also include a forty minute free practice session, and each day will have a 20 minute qualifying session. One day rounds will have 30 minute qualifying session and two twentyfive minute sprint races. Other developments include an update to driver eligibility rules following a successful appeal to the MSA by the championship organisers. National ‘B’ race license holders will now be allowed to enter. Championship boss, Marc Haynes commented: “We are very grateful to the MSA as we had to turn away a large number of experienced drivers last year simply because of license grade issues. We have put a great deal of time and thought into our plans for the 2013 season and consulted widely with competitors and teams. These exciting developments will take the GT Cup Championship forward in a positive way”. PTCT The series models itself on the British Touring Car Championship and acts as the perfect stepping stone for drivers and teams looking to bridge the gap from club and single make racing to a National Championship, more powerful cars and greater development freedom provide a perfect intermediate challenge before taking a step towards the highest level of saloon car racing in the BTCC. Drivers in the championship range from young drivers stepping up from junior or single make championships to seasoned veterans with multiple years experience in high level saloon racing. The teams that compete in the Production Touring Car Trophy include owner drivers who build and develop their cars in a garage, through to multi–car teams that have or aspire to compete in the BTCC. The Production Touring Car Trophy is therefore a perfect environment for a wide range of drivers and teams. www.ptct-barc.net www.gtcup.co.uk 22 Anglo American Oil Company Ltd • +44(0)1929 551557 • www.aaoil.co.uk • [email protected] Sunoco_UK Sunoco UK AAOIL 23 MAsters historic racing, HSCC, Group c & HRDC Masters Historic Racing Masters truly has something for everyone involved in historic racing with GP Masters catering for Formula 1 cars of the 1970s and 1980s, WSM (World Sportscar Masters) recreating the 1960s and early 70s period at Le Mans and Gentlemen Drivers Pre–66 GT Cars where AC Cobras take on Jaguar E–types and impudent Lotus Elans. Let’s look at one example. Sunoco Supreme weighs 5.95 pounds per gallon. Applying some maths: 5.95 / 8.325 = 0.715. So Supreme has a specific gravity of 0.715. If fuel A has a lower specific gravity than fuel B, fuel A is said to be “lighter” than fuel B. Literally, a gallon of fuel A weighs less than a gallon of fuel B. Sunoco GT Plus has a specific gravity of 0.762, so it is said to be “heavier” than Supreme. Why does this matter? Well there are two reasons. First, specific gravity has an impact on fuel metering, especially for carburetted engines. A heavier fuel is of course denser, so the float in a carb’s float bowl will sit higher than if a lighter fuel was used. If the float sits higher, the fuel level will be lower. Fuel level affects fuel metering in a number of ways, so if you’re switching fuels, pay attention to the fuel level in the bowls. For most race fuels, specific gravity is also an indication of the composition. Note that the words “most” and “indication” were used – there are exceptions. However, for most race fuels, a lower specific gravity suggests a faster–burning fuel, while a higher specific gravity suggests a fuel is slower–burning. This is because most light hydrocarbons used to make a race fuel are faster burning than most heavier hydrocarbons. This matters because faster–burning fuels 36 usually require less spark advance than slower–burning fuels. So in addition to paying attention to fuel metering changes when switching race fuels, you need to pay attention to ignition timing as well. We’re not talking huge changes here, but these changes are important to the proper tuning and consistent performance of your race engine. One final thought – there are implications for pump gas as well. The specific gravity of pump gas will typically range from about 0.720 to 0.770. As you can now guess, this wide range is a reflection of the wide ranging composition. Pump gas composition varies by octane, by region, and by season. For these reasons, a race engine that can run on pump gas must be tuned conservatively just to prevent engine failure. You can imagine the consequences of an engine that is tuned to the ragged edge on one batch of pump gas, then another batch is used in a race and the motor runs lean and timing is over–advanced. Not good. One of the most important attributes of a race fuel is its consistency. Even if you don’t need all the engine protection offered by a high octane race fuel, you may need its consistency. Specific gravity is one of the many parameters we monitor to ensure quality and consistency in all our fuels, batch after batch. Luckily, the answer is not necessarily complicated. Let’s look at Sunoco EXO2 for instance. It’s a good fuel to use as an example because it contains 10% (by weight) oxygen. Without proper fuel enrichment, you won’t find the power you’re hoping for, and in fact the engine may not even run well. In simple terms, you should start with adding enough extra fuel to offset the increased oxygen content. What does that mean? Well, let’s say you were running Supreme which has no oxygen. If you switch to EXO2, you will need to add approximately 10% more fuel to offset the 10% oxygen content. The extra oxygen effectively leans out the air/fuel mixture so you need to add enough fuel to get the air/fuel mixture back where it belongs. Actually a safe way to introduce EXO2 to your engine would be to go even richer than you think the engine needs... remember, engines can tolerate being rich a lot better than being lean! OK, so you’re wondering exactly how to get 10% more fuel into your engine. This is where we, as a fuel manufacturer, have to take a step back and recommend you talk to your fuel system manufacturer. Simply put: we make fuel, not carburetors. With so many companies building carburetors these days we’d go crazy trying Sunoco_UK Sunoco UK to keep track of whose carburetor needs which jets to get 10% more fuel. Plus we have no way of knowing how rich or lean your engine is before the switch. So have a conversation with your carb builder if you need to know how their carbs need to be re–jetted. Below is an example of the jetting requirements one engine builder worked through as he switched one of his race engines – a carbureted small block Chevy – to EXO2. Note that no attempt was made to run the engine without first installing bigger main jets. So you can see from the table above that the first jet choice – the 86s – was a little lean compared to where best power was found with the 90s. Also note that power tapered off a little with the 92s. Bigger jets were needed to offset the 10% oxygen content... and after some work on the dyno, the expected power benefits were obtained. We hope this sheds some light on proper tuning for oxygenated fuels. Although most race engines are fuel injected we have, for ease of explanation, used a carburettor example to highlight the oxygen tuning issues. Any fuel, including race fuel, will deteriorate, when exposed to the atmosphere. Prolonged exposure, will allow the light–end properties to escape, and as a consequence, the performance of the fuel will drop. This means that when using your drums of fuel at a circuit, they must be resealed after you have removed the quantity of fuel you need. You should not leave any kind of transfer pump standing in the drum as typically they don’t maintain an air tight seal in the drum opening. One other issue to mindful of is the increasing use of ethanol in unleaded fuels of any type. Ethanol attracts moisture and is aggressive to rubber. This means it is important to keep drums closed on damp or wet days, and if our English summer is actually sunny, fuel should not be kept in clear containers. Once a drum has been opened, the fuel will keep, but there are a few provisos. As mentioned above, the container must be kept sealed and it is best to use the containers we supply the fuel in. Our standard Tri Sure bungs have a rubber seal and can be screwed down tightly to make an air and moisture tight seal. All our fuel drums have an internal coating applied, which prevents any corrosion forming, keeping the fuel clean. The drum itself needs to be stored at a stable temperature. The key thing is not to expose the drum to extremes of temperature variation, i.e. leaving it outside in direct sunlight in summer or snow and ice in the winter. If these simple rules are followed, then the fuel, in a part drum, will easily last for months or even years (depending on type of fuel inside – call for technical advice). Oil viscosity chart Transportation by sea The International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code requires that fuels classified under UN 1203, MOTOR SPIRIT or GASOLINE or PETROL must be declared when being carried by sea. Unless declared, it is prohibited to carry any additional fuel, other than that which is in the fuel tank(s) of the car(s) on any ferry crossing. If undeclared fuel containers are discovered by the Ferry Company or an inspection body the ferry operator will not allow the carrier to travel unless, the fuel is disposed of outside the port area before boarding the ferry. If undeclared fuel is found, the time taken to deal with the incident could mean that the ferry crossing may be missed. The declaration of the petrol must be made on a Dangerous Goods Shipping Note. The declaration must be as follows: UN1203 MOTOR SPIRIT,3,11(D/E) for less than 10% ethanol content. It is important that the person loading the vehicle signs Container/Vehicle Packing Certificate. Transportation in the UK. Transporting petrol, be it race fuel or regular pump fuel, is regulated by ADR, which is an international standard covering the transportation of hazardous materials. In the UK this is enforced by various bodies, such as the Police, Ministry of Transport and VOSA. These regulations limit the amount of fuel that can be transported, unless the driver holds an additional ADR licence and the vehicle has the specified safety equipment aboard. If stopped carrying more than the quantities shown below, then as the very least you will be prevented from completing your journey, until a suitably qualified driver and vehicle is found. A private individual is allowed to carry a maximum of 240 litres in containers no larger than 60 litres. A business, is allowed carry up to 333 litres, in either 25, 50 or 200lt drums provided: • The vehicle has 1 x 2kg dry powder for the cab • The driver has had some low level training (Awareness training) • The cans must not be opened in transit • No portable lighting equipment to carried unless it conforms to ATEX. • No Smoking on or around, the vehicle during operations, this means loading, unloading and transit • The drums need to be secure whilst in transit • Need to carry INSTRUCTIONS IN WRITING (The Instructions in Writing can be downloaded from the internet) Any business regularly transporting fuel with any doubts about what they are doing should make contact with a local dangerous goods safety adviser. ZDDP reacts under heat and load to create the sacrificial film that allows ZDDP to protect flat tappet camshafts and other highly loaded engine parts. The Society of Automotive Engineers’ Automotive Lubricants Reference Book states, “ZDDP is the predominant anti-wear additive used in crankcase oils, although it is a class of additive rather than one particular chemical.” Some Zinc additives have slower “burn” rates that require more heat and more load to activate than other Zinc additives. As a result, not all “high Zinc” oils have the same activation rate. The Driven BR Break-In Oil uses a “fast burn” ZDDP that activates quickly. THe CriTiCal balanCe Of DeTerGenTs TO ZinC ZinC Detergents and dispersants in the oil complicate the situation. Detergent and dispersant additives compete against Zinc in the engine because they are polar molecules as well. Detergents and dispersants clean the engine, but they don’t distinguish between sludge, varnish and Zinc – they clean all three away. Modern API certified oils contain high levels of detergents and dispersants. The old school theory on engine break-in was to run non-detergent oils, and this allowed for greater activation of the Zinc additive in the oil. Driven BR Break-In Oils utilize the correct balance of high levels of Zinc anti-wear additives and low levels of detergents, so you don’t need to buy expensive additives to try to “fix” a low Zinc (ZDDP) content oil. As long as the oil still looks fresh and does not smell like fuel, you can just change the filter, add oil and keep racing. Once the oil turns dark and begins to smell like fuel, go ahead and drain the oil and install fresh oil and a new filter. DirT COnTaminaTiOn Synthetic PAO 44 While synthetic oil costs more per quart, it can actually save you money on total oil purchases. It is more durable and lasts longer than mineral oil, so you don’t have to change it as often. The most cost effective approach is to use synthetic oil and frequently change the oil filter. However, over 50% of all machine failures are related to contamination, so keeping your oil system clean is important. Changing the used filter removes contaminants from the oil system, and topping off the oil when you install the new filter adds clean oil to the system. Following this maintenance program reduces engine wear and oil purchases, as well as extends oil life. Oil is the lifeblood of any engine. When it comes to highly complex performance engines, it’s critical to choose the oil that meets your engine’s specific needs. While it is often difficult to separate “fact from fiction” regarding engine oils, rest assured that lubricant technology is constantly evolving at the highest levels of motorsports, and Driven Racing Oil is a major player in those developments. One such breakthrough that Driven has recently incorporated into all its synthetic options is mPAO – a next-generation synthetic base lubricant. While you may never have heard this name before, what this stuff does will impress anyone who understands the difference between pistons and petunias. By using an mPAO base for creating its performance lubricants, Driven is able to create a lightweight motor oil that retains a high HTHS (High Temperature High Shear) viscosity to give you the best lubricant possible – an oil that’s less sensitive to heat, doesn’t break down under extreme friction and just plain works better. Mineral PA Crude GeT mOre frOm yOur Oil Also, the high temperatures on the valve springs, camshafts and pistons would cause mineral oils to break down much faster than synthetic oil. Mineral oils begin to break down at 116˚ C, but synthetic oils can handle up to 160˚ C before they begin to break down. Engines that run low oil temps require lower viscosity oil. Case of 12 US quarts (0.946lt). 40 years ago, you had winter grades for cold weather and summer grades for hot weather. A typical winter grade was 10W. A typical summer grade was 30. We often refer to these oils as straight grade oils. A 10W flows well in cold weather, so it protects the engine at start up in cold weather. That is why it has the “W” after the 10. “W” stands for winter, but a 10W is too thin for use in the heat of the summer. So, you would change to a 30 summer grade oil that was thick enough to protect in the heat. That is why multi-grade oils were invented. A 10W-30 has both the winter cold start up flow properties of a 10W and the summer high temperature thickness of a 30 grade. A multi-grade oil allows the oil to stay as close to the optimum viscosity over a range of temperatures – not too thick when it is cold and not too thin when it is hot. xP7 A semi-synthetic 10W-40 racing oil based on our proven XP5 racing oil. Ideal for desert and off-road engines, IMCA modified engines, spec engines, flat tappet camshafts and hydraulic lifter engines. Designed for clearances under .0030. viscosity typical of Sae 10W-40. As you can see, the operating temperature of the oil plays a major role in the selection of the proper viscosity oil. For example, look at an NHRA Pro Stock engine, a NASCAR Sprint Cup engine and a World of Outlaws 410 Sprint engine. Each engine has a very different operating oil temperature – 38°C, 104°C and 149°C. As a result, all three engines run very different viscosity oils − SAE 0W-5, SAE 5W-20 and SAE 15W-50. The lower the oil temperature is, the lower the SAE you can run, and vice versa. Case of 12 US quarts (0.946lt) mineral It is important to keep clearances in mind. Looser clearances in the engine and oil pump require higher viscosity oil to maintain oil pressure. Tighter clearances need lower viscosity oil, which provides better cooling and improved horsepower. Developed specifically for older cars, no other oil provides this unique combination of lubricant chemistry. Modern engine designs and oils have done a great job of reducing emissions and protecting emissions control equipment. However, modern oils have played havoc on older engines. The reduction in emissions in modern cars has coincided with a reduction in traditional anti-wear additives (i.e. Zinc Dithiophosphates) in modern oils. While this is great for the environment, it is bad news for your flat tappet camshaft. As stated in the book Lubrication Fundamentals,”In heavily loaded applications, flat tappet cam followers operate on partial oil films at least part of the time. It is a perfect product for race cars with full decal wraps and fiberglass body cars. The clean and shine from Race Wax makes your car look sharp, and it makes clean up quick and easy without damaging the decal, paint or windows. Case of (12) 24 oz. Bottles 58 24 oz. The addition of some mPAO base oil increases the ability to handle high loads and high oil temperatures without breaking down. This increases the durability of the oil while maintaining a semi-synthetic price. The 20W-50 viscosity of the Xp5 is perfect for aluminum block engines, and the 10W-40 viscosity of the Xp7 is perfect for iron block engines. • MINERAL: Xp4 − In very dirty and very high fuel dilution environments, the best plan of action is changing the oil frequently. The all mineral formula of Xp4 delivers high Zinc protection for valve train durability, and the 15W-50 viscosity provides bearing oil film thickness. Through careful observation and listening to feedback from key team members and experts in the motorsport world, a brand new range of highquality products began to emerge - each designed and developed to cater for a specific need that had been highlighted by people at the sharp end of the sport. As well as blend chemicals that would produce excellent results every time, it was important that the products performed quickly and efficiently, as time is crucial in the heat of competition. To achieve this, each and every item was tested in race conditions and, it wasn't until all the boxes were ticked, did they get the green light to go into production. Kleers has also gone a step further than just the chemical formulation of the products themselves and has carefully considered the type of container required for each application – making sure that it is the right size and uses the right dispensing mechanism - features that make them efficient and easy to use. Added to this, each item has been distinctively branded to differentiate it from the company's mainstream range of premium quality car care products. Already, Kleers Motorsport products are being used by some of the world's leading team's in some of the world's most prestigious events, including Formula 1, the World Rally Championship, the World Endurance Championship, Le Mans, NASCAR, Grand Am, ALMS and a range of high profile GT championships – to name but a few. After studying the amount of debris: rubber, insects and general grime that is collected from the race-track, it became apparent that the interruption in air-flow – albeit small in same cases – could cause drag or sometimes the loss of aerodynamic efficiency, especially if the unwanted items were stuck to leading edges, splitters, wings, body panels and flat-floors. In addition, these objects would add weight to the vehicle, particularly in long-distance events. By using the kit’s Paint Cleaner and applying Kleers Aero Performer liquid using the colour-coded microfibre cloths, debris build up and therefore drag is dramatically reduced on the treated areas. There are no visible signs of using the product once it has been applied. • This product is recommended for use on high performing, aero-sensitive racing cars, such as: F1, GP2,F3, LMP1, LMP2, GT, GTE, NASCAR, GrandAm, V8 etc. • Not recommended for use on glass or plastic windows • 50ml refill bottles can be purchased separately • For a detailed presentation and technical information about Aero Performer, please contact us Specifically formulated for motorsport use Currently used by front running F1 teams and other leading competitors in GT, LMP and saloon car racing Developed using an on-track test programme Proven results from independent wind tunnel tests Reduces surface drag by 1.4% Keeps surfaces slick and smooth Dramatically reduces build up of rubber marbles and bugs Maintains aerodynamic balance and reduces additional race weight caused by debris Long lasting protection Contents: 50ml Aero Performer liquid preparation, 4 x Kleers Microfibre Finishing Cloths, 250ml Kleers Paint Cleaner Aero Performer Surface Preparation Kit and Aero Performer Refill No sooner had Kleers launched its range of market leading car care products in spring 2010, the company began to develop a brand new range designed specifically for motorsport applications. At high speeds it doesn't take long before rubber ‘marbles’ and other airborne objects find their way onto the bodywork and forward-facing components. More often than not, these unwanted items are difficult to remove. But a liberal spray of Kleers Marble and Bug Remover, which should be left for 15 seconds before wiping off, will provide a quick and easy solution to an ageold problem.
