Therefore, for those members who rely on front parking, due to the far walk from the back parking lot, there will be quarters available, upon request. On Friday, April 29 at 7PM & Saturday, April 30 at 2PM, please join us for a special presentation of song and story performed by Dr. Rick Boulay at Allentown’s Miller Symphony Hall. Geared toward cancer survivors and their caregivers, “Make Them Hear You” explores the powerful lessons of cancer survivorship; cancer as a journey, spirituality, words left unsaid, advocacy and the beauty of each moment. Each lesson is wonderfully underscored with songs of Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, and broadway classics. Vinny Trovato and Carolyn Boulay will perform with Dr. Boulay. Your $25 ticket will support cancer related charities. Choral selections will include works by Handel, Mozart, Randall Thompson, and Eriks Esenvalds. Solo selections will be by Handel, Schumann, and Barber. Emily McManaman will be one of the featured soloists in this program. This is a return engagement of this outstanding musical group. These very talented young people always present an amazing performance. In the summer of 2012, Touring Choir traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio to compete in the first occurrence of the INTERKULTUR World Choir Games to take place in the United States. This major international choral competition brought more than 360 choirs from 63 countries to our shores. Competing in the advanced level of the “Mixed Youth Choir” division against a field of high school and college choirs representing nine countries Touring Choir captured a gold medal rank, finishing third in the division. This was the highest rank achieved by a high school choir in the division. As a result of this competition Touring Choir is now ranked on the INTERKULTUR World’s Top 100 Youth Choirs list. First Noon-Ten Concert Tuesday, April 5 – Tom Dressler The first Noon-ten program features Thomas Dressler, organist, who is currently Associate for Traditional Worship at First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, Pennsylvania. His recital will include music by Bach, Buxtehude, Franck, and Zundel. Suggested donation, $5. Dressler was self-taught at a young age and began formal organ lessons at age 13, playing his first full organ recital a year later. During his teen years, he practiced on a historic 19th century organ, which began his fascination with historic performing techniques. He earned A Bachelor of Music, cum laude, from Susquehanna University and later received his Master of Music, with honors From Westminster Choir College. He has been invited to perform on some of America's most historic organs, including the oldest American built organ, the 1770 Tannenberg organ, as well as notable modern instruments, including the organ at the Cadet Chapel at West Point Military Academy. He has taught music history, music appreciation, and theory at the college level, and continues to teach private students. honors, from Westminster Choir College. His two recordings (on the 1847 Ferris organ in Round Lake, New York, and the 2000 Paul Fritts organ in Princeton, New Jersey) were featured on NPR's Pipedreams.
