2015 | 2016 Season
Dear CIM Concert Enthusiast;
It gives me great pleasure to invite all of Northeast Ohio to another exciting season of
performance events at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
CIM again presents an eclectic offering of concerts, events and masterclasses – nearly all
free to the community. This year we are honored to participate in the community-wide
partnership that brings the Violins of Hope to Cleveland and includes a series of CIM
concerts featuring repertoire reflecting the strength of the Jewish people and presented on
stringed instruments that survived the Holocaust. The series includes a special CIM concert
at Severance Hall for the community, Music of the Violins of Hope, featuring the Cleveland
Institute of Music Orchestra led by Maestro Yoel Levi. I hope you will plan to attend this
inspirational concert on October 14 at 8pm in Severance Hall.
The 2015-16 Season also features more than 20 recitals performed by our world-renowned
faculty and includes new works by our own Head of Composition, Keith Fitch. I’m thrilled
to announce that Maestro Jahja Ling will be our Distinguished Principal Guest Artist this
year, leading the CIM Orchestra in two concerts this spring, including the Symphony No.1
by Gustav Mahler.

VIOLINS OF HOPE
The Violins of Hope sound again in this special
concert series.
CIM is honored to be part of a community-wide collaboration that
brings the Violins of Hope to the concert stage. In this special series,
CIM faculty and distinguished guests play carefully restored violins that
survived the Holocaust. The featured repertoire reflects the strength
and perseverance of the Jewish people and the powerful role music
played during that time.

PERFORMANCE VENUES
1. Mixon Hall: a state-of-the-art 235-seat chamber hall designed for solo
recitals and chamber music. The hall, opened in 2007, has quickly become a
national favorite for its intimacy and excellent acoustics.

enough to accommodate the CIM Orchestra or a fully staged opera.

Parking: Free parking for CIM
concerts is available in the CIM parking
lot on Hazel Drive. There is also
street parking on Hazel Drive and East
Boulevard that can usually accommodate
those attending our concerts. If the
CIM lot is full, and depending upon their
schedules, adjacent institutions’ parking
facilities may also be available on any
given evening. See map on page 55 for
additional parking options. CIM’s East
Boulevard and Hazel Drive entrances
are wheelchair accessible.
Groups: Groups are welcome. To
make arrangements, call the Concerts &
Events Office.

Concert Start Times: Halls open
30 minutes before the concert is
scheduled to begin. All concerts begin
promptly at the designated time.
To ensure the enjoyment of all our
patrons, and in deference to the artists,
latecomers are admitted only at the
discretion of the House Manager. The
television screen in Pogue Lobby streams
each concert, so you can still enjoy the
performance until you are seated.
Subject to Change: All programs,
artists and venues are subject to change
without notice. In the event of a last
minute cancellation, every attempt is
made to inform the public via cim.edu
and social media channels. Current
concert information is available at
cim.edu or by calling 216.791.5000.

TICKETS &
SEATING
PASSES
Concerts are FREE unless otherwise
noted. Please check listings carefully.
Tickets: Tickets for paid events can be
purchased online, in person or by calling
the CIM Box Office. Online ticketing
is disabled at 3pm on the day of a
weekday event or on the Friday before
a weekend event. On concert nights,
the Box Office will re-open one hour
prior to the event for walk-up sales
and will call only. Phone calls cannot be
answered during pre-concert sales.
Payment: CIM accepts Visa, Discover,
MasterCard, American Express, cash or
checks made payable to the Cleveland
Institute of Music. A $1 non-refundable
handling fee is charged for each ticket
purchased using a credit card, up to a
$5 maximum fee per transaction.
Tickets are mailed up to one week prior
to an event. After that, tickets are held
at the CIM Box Office.
Handicapped Seating: Call the
Box Office to make arrangements for
handicap accessible seating. Seating is
subject to availability.
All sales are final: No refunds are
possible unless the performance is
cancelled. If you are unable to attend
any paid concert, you can receive
credit for a charitable donation for the
purchase price by returning your tickets
by phone no later than 3pm on the day
of the performance.
Ticket Exchange Policy: Opera
patrons may exchange tickets for a
different performance of the same
production, subject to availability.
Exchanges must be made before 3pm
on the day of the performance.
Lost Tickets: CIM can provide
duplicate tickets to be picked up the
evening of the concert. Call before 3pm
the day of the concert.
Gift Certificates: Gift certificates
redeemable toward ticket purchases for
any performance are available from the
Box Office.
Seating Passes: Free seating passes are
required for faculty and chamber orchestra
concerts in Mixon Hall. Passes can be
reserved beginning one week prior to the
concert date by calling the CIM Box Office
or going to cim.edu. Reserved passes are
held at the Box Office and may be picked
up one hour before the concert begins.
Passes are held until 15 minutes prior to
concert start, at which time unclaimed
passes are distributed to patrons waiting
for seats in the event of a sell-out.
