We’ve got some great news for all Members this month! All BUFFET
prices will be REDUCED 20% effective September 1! This includes
Pasta Night on Tuesdays…Chicken Night on Wednesdays…Fried Catfish
on Fridays…and even the Breakfast Buffet on Sundays! And, each will
have the same great options and quality. Bring the entire family for an
incredible value!
All during August, there was an incredible interest from members who
wanted to take up the opportunity to ride one of the Colonial-sponsored
buses to the TCU vs. Oregon State season opener at Cowboys Stadium, and
as of this writing, there are three buses going at the very reasonable cost of
$20 per person. We were initially uncertain as to whether we could fill just
one bus, but clearly, Colonial members want to cheer on the Frogs! We
want to thank the Entertainment Committee, chaired by Dr. Lee Anderson,
for the suggestion, and also Alexis Groesch, Special Events Manager, for
making it happen for the membership.
On the Golf Enhancement side…Dow Finsterwald, Jr. and his team
of Golf Professionals are hard at work to ensure your Colonial golf experience
is the best possible at all levels. For example, Dow has implemented a
GOLF MANAGER-ON-DUTY (MOD) CHECKLIST. The purpose is to
ensure all standards of the golf operation are being checked regularly by a
Golf Professional. There is a morning and afternoon physical walk-through
(and drive-through) of the golf operation and course by either Dow, Alicia,
Matt or Cody. Each standard is evaluated. If there is something requiring
attention from another department, it is noted and action taken by Dow
or myself.
There are many, many Golf Enhancement standards our members
may not even realize we are working hard to maintain… Here are just
a few of the areas Dow’s team is inspecting for you twice daily: Bag
Drop…two-way radios…guest tags…podium stocked with supplies…Bag
Room…push carts…plenty of scorecards, pencils, etc…First Tee…Starter
Shack…staff uniforms and appearance everywhere…ice chests…cleanliness
everywhere…trash cans…toiletries and facilities…Driving Range…caddies,
balls, bag stands, club washers, etc…Golf Carts…neatly staged…cleaned,
towels, sand bottles…clean ice chests with water…Pro Shop…cleaned…
neatly stocked…counter area neat… And most importantly, that staff is
welcoming and ready to give our members friendly and professional service!
If you would like more detail (and there’s plenty of that) just ask one of
the pros to show you the MOD book, which is kept at the Pro Shop Front
Desk.
Another Golf Enhancement program Dow and his team is working
with the Golf Committee and Chairman Melvin Haas on the initiative to add
an internet tee-time reservation system. The program, being researched,
vetted and reference- checked has been developed by “NetCaddy” and will
interface with our accounting and website systems. Alexis Groesch, with her
extensive knowledge and experience with our website, and Harry Leventhal
on the accounting side, are helping Dow answer the many questions the
Golf Committee has asked management to resolve. We should have more
information on this initiative over the next several months, but we ask that
if you have had an experience with an automated tee-time system with
another club, we would love to hear about it. Management and the Golf
Committee will carefully evaluate and consider all issues and concerns
before a recommendation is made to the Board.
Justin Zavala, in his role as Colonial’s Manager of Personal Training,
is very busy working with Rebecca Slemmons to implement new personal
training programs that add value to being a Colonial member… In just
a short while, Justin has begun a reach-out program to all new Colonial
members, encouraging them to discover several personal training and group
exercise programs that have been recently added. Justin has made it a daily
goal to call new members to inform them of our complimentary fitness
orientation, and the many personal training services and group exercise
classes we currently offer, and that we offer new in the fall. Feedback for
this personal touch has been very positive.
And lastly, I would like to remind our membership of the people value
we have in Bill Ward and his team of in-house construction and engineering
professionals. Without the wealth of experience and expertise of Bill and his
guys, the Club would have literally spent $40,000 to $60,000 more in the
renovation of the 19th Hole. Without exception, members have appreciated
and are proud of the new updated look… With Bill and his team’s expertise,
the membership saved – designer 124 fees…jobber costs…sub-contractor
mark-ups…and time, lots of time. Here are some specifics of how your staff
talents contributed to this project…
Robert Antis, whom the club has sent to several certification classes
for HVAC, electrical systems and refrigeration applications was responsible
for the retrofitting of all lighting units…equipment installations…and allaround general construction tasks. Robert is easily the most polite, willing
and energetic young men I have ever worked with. Mark Beverly aided
Robert and Bill with literally every step of the project…in a very quiet
and modest manner, Mark has brought to Colonial a wealth of expertise
in carpentry, general repair and remodeling – valuable assets in a building
erected 55 years ago. Tommy Allen and Charlie Smith are our full-time
painters who do much, much more than just paint (as if that was not
enough!). Tommy and Charlie helped with the replacement of ceiling
tiles… re-varnishing all wood surfaces…cabinetry work and install…wall
resurfacing and restoration…and more. And while Robert, Mark, Tommy
and Charlie were “having all the fun” in the 19th Hole, 16-year employee
Tommy Stewart was keeping the rest of the maintenance projects for the
Clubhouse at bay!
We must also thank Clubhouse Manager, Markus Rentzing, who was
instrumental in negotiating added value and better prices for the televisions,
sound system, bar equipment, and the “kegerators” and refrigeration
units.
If you would like to see construction pictures throughout the renovation
process, check out the website…Alexis Groesch has posted many great
pictures showing the demolition and restoration. House Committee Chair
Rob Doby shares our pride that this project was completed on-time and onbudget…management wishes to thanks Mr. Doby and the members of the
House Committee, and the Board of Governors, for their insight, assistance
and support of this project.

As I reviewed last year’s September article, it occurred to me that really
hot weather is not good for a person’s mental stability… I was clearly addled by
the heat when I wrote this. However, it is currently 105 and I am tasked with
writing another newsletter article, so I am going to give it to you again…with
my apologies.
I think of September and March as bracketing the three major seasons on
the golf course: the good, the bad, and the ugly (play Sergio Leone music here).
March through September contains the hardest work and the longest hours. In
March, we are ramping up for spring, which always brings a steady increase in
hours and effort to get the golf course “filled in.” Fertilizer fills the air and sod
trucks begin arriving as we strive to repair any of the Bermudagrass that did
not make the winter (this year, it was a lot!). March also ushers in the spring
member golf season, followed by the Crowne Plaza Invitational preparation, and
eventually, the tournament itself. March through May completes the “bad,” and
it’s not really bad, it’s just a lot of work over a long period of time.
What comes next is ugly. After the last ounce of adrenaline is drained
out of our bodies by the final day of the tournament, we get to wake up the
following Monday and fight through the toughest single week of the year, post
tournament week where we tear down the tournament infrastructure, put up all
the fans, aerify almost everything in sight, and try to put it back together again
for the weekend. But of course, that is just one week of ugly... we might call that
week “wake up in the morning unattractive leaning strongly towards ugly but
hopefully temporary.” What follows is truly ugly, the summer bentgrass season
where we slog through three months of hot and sunny, hot and wet, hot and
dry, and sometimes if we are truly cursed - hot, wet, dry and sunny all in one
day! This is the truly ugly, and every summer is ugly with bentgrass, even on a
relatively cool summer like 2007, which was more pet bulldog ugly - if it’s your
dog you can convince yourself it’s more cute than ugly, but that still don’t make
it purdy. (Please don’t send me cute pictures of your bulldog!)
The weather in September is transitional… from ugly to good. The first
part of the month is a lot like summer, and I am sure we all remember Labor Day
weekends in the 100’s. Inevitably, however, we are saying goodbye to summer
and hello to fall. Sometime in September, the first good, sweet, clean, cold front
makes its way down through the heartland, and we go from 100 to 85 degrees for
a high temperature and even better, the low goes from a sultry 80 to a crisp 62
degrees. Suddenly we live in the land of the “good.” If you happen to be out on
the course on such a morning and you hear singing or yelling, do not be alarmed,
it’s just me ushering in the, “I can start breathing again season,” closely followed
by the, “Hey this job can be kind of fun season” which often lasts through the
dead of winter up until March, when we begin the, well…you know.
So… here’s to the arrival of the “good,” may it find us early in September
and hang around for a long, glorious fall season.

In Full Swing
with Dow Finsterwald, Jr., Head Golf Professional
[email protected]
I feel certain the 100 degree days are behind us… that is if the
national weather service’s 125 years of record-keeping is correct. I also
know the green aerification will be over after this month, we will have a
new selection of fall and winter apparel in the golf shop, and last but not
least, our member tournaments pick back up.
With the arrival of fall, the average temperature drops seven degrees.
This usually means the greens will start to firm up after the green
aerification on September 14 (if all goes as planned). With firmer greens,
the course plays like it was meant to play; shots hit out of the rough or not
hit solidly will not stop on the greens. Also, with the closely mown areas
behind several greens, you may have a tough chip to save your par. This
has been a tough summer and as I write this article, the lows have been
around 82 degrees and the highs around 102 degrees. Hopefully, we will
get a break come the middle of September which will help the recovery of
the Bentgrass greens.
September is the month most of our fall apparel arrives. Alicia has
picked out some wonderful items for the ladies since her arrival and this
fall will be no different. The overwhelming success of our women’s apparel
sales is a result of Alicia’s keen sense of what lady golfers love to wear. As
far as men’s apparel, I have tried to listen to what the Members want, while
keeping up with trends in the PGA magazine, and annually attending
the merchandising show in Orlando. This fall you will continue to see
plenty of technical fabrics (yeah, no ironing), new styles of shoes from Foot
Joy and Adidas, and plenty of outerwear from Zero Restriction and Sun
Mountain.
This month gets under way with the Roland Harper Match Play
Championship September 4 – 6. This is the only match play tournament
of the year for the men and winners from each flight will qualify for the
Maxwell Cup at Colonial September 28-30. We are limiting the field
to 48 players so sign up ASAP. We are also hosting the U.S.G.A. Senior
Amateur qualifying on September 13, so the golf course will be closed
Tuesday, September 14.
We in the golf shop really look forward to a fall packed with great
weather and spirited competition.

We have been very busy at the Fitness Center over the summer! I would like to share with you
some of the new programs and services we are putting into place to enhance your experience. If
you are new to our family, be on the lookout for a welcome call from Justin Zavala, Manager
of Personal Training. These calls are meant to introduce our fitness staff and tell you personally
all of the programs and services you have available to you at the Fitness Center. To assist you with
finding just the right personal trainer, we will have a Trainer Bio Book at the Fitness Center so you
can read about all of the qualifications and certifications each trainer holds as well as any specific
areas they are certified in. Lastly, we are in the process of visiting other fitness centers in the area for
some comparative shopping. These visits will be very important as we work to strengthen our own
health and wellness programming here at the club. The implementation of new member welcome
calls and trainer bio books are just a sampling of all of the new service enhancements you can expect
from your Fitness Staff. The comparative shopping will help keep us current and on the cutting
edge for fitness and programs. We look forward to seeing you at the fitness center.
The Colonial Performance Academy is also in full swing with a new fall workshop
series and some new health and wellness options on the golf course. Be on the lookout
in the fall for our new CartPath cards. These cards, designed by CPA Faculty Brad
Davis and Amy Goodson, will offer stretching techniques before and after your game
as well as nutritional suggestions to help you stay focused out on the course. CPA
is also helping us to fulfill our goal for Specialty Training Services, including: Pilates Reformer,
yoga and sports specific agility training for youth and teens to name a few.

TRX Suspension Training is a new way to work out that utilizes bodyweight
to develop strength, balance, flexibility, mobility and core stability
simultaneously. The TRX is a performance training tool that leverages
gravity and the user’s own body weight to enable hundreds of exercises for
every fitness goal.
This training format offers benefits for people of all fitness levels (pro athletes to seniors) because
the user precisely controls the resistance by adjusting body position and body angle. Achieve peak

Net News
with Matt Watson, USPTA Director of Tennis
[email protected]
September means the start of league tennis and great tennis weather!
USTA play begins Friday, September 10 and Interclub begins Tuesday,
September 14. If you are interested in playing on the outdoor courts on
either Tuesdays or Fridays, please check with the tennis shop for availability.
We will have seven teams playing at Colonial this season: (1) 2.5 team, (1)
3.0 team, (2) 3.5 teams, and (3) 4.0 teams.
us in the Clubhouse to watch the Men’s semifinals. The cost will
be $15/person and we will be providing light snacks with a member
sign bar. Please check back with the tennis shop for more information or to sign up.
Tennis Tip: As the fall competitive season approaches, this is a great
time to get some tips on how to improve your game by observing your
opponent. Here are 10 ways: (1) Analyze the warm up – analyze the hit,
the grips used, the footwork and the comfort level on different shots. (2)
Study the stance on the return of serve – this can give away what shot
they plan to hit to start the point (i.e. forehand or backhand). (3) Avoid
the power zone – determine where they like the ball (high, low, forehand,
backhand, etc.) and then keep it away from those areas. (4) Check out
the movement and footwork – if they are quick, hit behind them; if
they are slow, hit away from them. (5) Anticipate opportunities after
analyzing weaknesses – look to move into the court when hitting a ball
to your opponent’s weak side. (6) Keep mental statistics – determine
patterns your opponent has in certain situations. Do they hit passing shots
crosscourt? Do they lob off the backhand often? Typically, you will see
certain shots more than others. Remember these and anticipate! (7) Place
blame in the right place – for example, if you attack the net and get
passed, ask yourself why instead of telling yourself you aren’t going to come
in again. (8) Have you seen everything they have – early in the match
make sure to move your shots around, adjust depth and pace and determine
what works and what doesn’t. (9) Hide your weaknesses at all costs – be
willing to adjust your strategy if your game isn’t working. You don’t always
have to outplay your opponent, rather OUTTHINK your opponent! (10)
Read your opponent like a book – read your opponent between points.
Are they tired? Are they down on themselves? Do they look nervous? If
they are rushing you, don’t let them. Take care of your own needs first and
always keep an eye on them.
The following is our Interclub schedule for the Fall:
Thank you to everyone who participated in the CLTA Fall Kickoff
event and the CPA Workshop on Tuesday, August 31. We had a great
turnout and thank you to Randall Hunt for stopping by to visit with all
of us regarding the Bionetics program for tennis. This should prove to be
very helpful to all those who participate and want to improve their game. If
you are interested in increasing your serve speed, making your body more
efficient for tennis, extending the life of your body for tennis, or how to
prevent and recover from the most common tennis injuries then set up an
appointment with Randall to get more information.
We will be having a U.S. Open Mixer on Saturday, September 11 at
11:00 AM. That Saturday is known as SUPER SATURDAY (both Men’s
semifinals and the Women’s Final are played that day) and we want to
make it a Super Fun Saturday on the courts. We will be playing tennis
from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM and then those who wish to stay can join

I have lived in Texas almost all my life, so I know we really don’t have
a “fall” season, but the weather definitely does get cooler and we do have
football! What more do you need?
Speaking of football, we will continue to offer our
Members shuttle service to and from the TCU home
games (note the home schedule on the front cover).
Members and their guests will again be asked to wear their
purple wristbands in order to ride the buses. This ensures
exclusivity for our members and their invited guests.
Wristbands are available at the Front Desk during regular business hours.
Members may request as many wristbands as needed.
This month, we will mark the end of summer with the closing of
the pool season. It’s a bitter sweet end to the hot summer days. Make
plans to celebrate with us one last time at our Labor Day Celebration on
Monday, September 6 from 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM. We will have a great
buffet (adults are $10++ and children 4-12 yrs. old are $7++) available
from 12:00-6:00 PM, with a DJ spinning a few tunes from 12:00-4:00
PM. Bring the entire family out for one more hot summer day by the pool.
There will be an additional $5 fee for all guests.
We have had such a great response to our CPA (Colonial Performance
Academy) workshops, that Rebecca Slemmons, our Director of Fitness
and Wellness has worked with the faculty to schedule a few more! On
Tuesday, September 21, the topic is “Injury Prevention.” On Tuesday,
October 12, CPA dietician Amy Goodson will host a discussion on “Eating
Healthy in a Fast Paced World.” Both of these workshops are open to
all Members and are complimentary. To sign up, visit us online or contact
the Front Desk.
Another favorite among our Members is Karaoke in the Terrace
Room. As you know, this is held on the first Thursday of each month and
is definitely a great time. This month, Karaoke will be held on Thursday,
September 2. We hope you will be able to come and join us.
What woman doesn’t love to shop? Mark your calendar to attend this
month’s Ladies’ Luncheon Series on Thursday, September 9 from 11:30
AM – 1:00 PM with Carolyn Ann Raab of the “Bridge Boutique” to
show her new fall line. Also, make plans to attend the upcoming luncheons
with Kevin Starnes, of “Lillian Flowers” on Thursday, October 14.
Mr. Starnes is here to share new ideas for decorating our homes for the
holidays. And while we are talking about the holidays. . . Please note
the special date for our November luncheon. Join Amy Goodson on
Wednesday, November 17 for a special luncheon “Enjoying the holidays
and still keeping our girlish figures.” I am very excited about each of these
luncheons and look forward to seeing you there. For reservations, visit us
online at www.colonialfw.com and click on the event calendar or stop by
the Front Desk.
While we are talking about shopping, ladies, join some of your
fellow members for a special “Ladies’ Night Out” event on Thursday,
September 30 from 6:30-8:30 PM with Flirt Boutique on Camp Bowie.

Come enjoy a cocktail with your friends and see highlights from the fall
lines. Need a little pampering? Join us on Thursday, October 20 for a
special “Pamper Party.” Enjoy a beverage with your fellow members while
you get a manicure or pedicure, or relax with a nice massage. This is sure
to be a popular event, so be sure to make your reservations early! Finally,
before we learn some great holiday decorating tips, come see some great
decorative pieces for your home from Willow House (formerly Southern
Living at Home) on Thursday, November 4.
Come “travel around the world” at our next wine
dinner on Wednesday, October 13 featuring all wines
with a 90+ rating. This four course dinner will start
out with the Pierre Sparr Marquis de Perlade (90, Wine
& Spirits), Crossing Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand
(90, Wine & Spirits), Hob Nob Pinot Noir from France (92,
Cheers Magazine), Cruz de Alba Ciranza from Spain (90, Wine Advocate), and
Kunde Reserve Zinfandel from California (92, Wine Spectator). Visit our
website at www.colonialfw.com for reservations or stop by the Front Desk.
DATE CHANGES: We have changed the date for our next two
Young Member Socials. This month’s will be held on Wednesday,
September 15 from 6:00-7:30 PM in the Terrace Room. Chef Morabito
will put together a special tasting of some featured items on the Terrace
Room menu for you to enjoy. Our October social will be held Tuesday,
October 26. Be sure to watch for more information on this event!
It’s never too early to make your holiday plans! Join us for
Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 25 with reservations available
at 11:00 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM in the South Wing and
Terrace Room and 12:00 PM in the Cork Room. The cost is $34.95++
for adults and $17.95++ for children 4-12 years old. Children 3 and
under are complimentary.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be here on Sunday, December 5 for our
annual Santa Brunch and they are bringing with them
some Marines from Toys for Tots to support this year’s
campaign. We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys
starting Friday, November 26 through Friday, December
12.
Finally, we are in the very early stages of planning
this year’s New Year’s Eve event, but we have confirmed the band Mars
Hill as this year’s entertainment. They are a great band that can play
anything from swing to country to current music we are listening to on
the radio. Be sure to watch for more information on the website and
throughout the Clubhouse.
There are many other events in the planning stages, including several
for next year commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Colonial Country
Club; as always if you would like to see something happen 1429here, please
let me know. The Entertainment Committee and I are always putting
together lists of ideas and suggestions we receive from the Membership. I
look forward to seeing you around the Club.

A moment in History...
Greenbriar Tournament
The PGA Tour’s resurrection of the Greenbriar tournament in West Virginia this past summer brings back memories from
the 1950s. That tournament was an annual affair back then, and served as the home tournament of Sam Snead, much like
Colonial’s event did for Ben Hogan.
Of course, Hogan and Snead developed quite a rivalry during
their heyday. In 1950 when Hogan went up to Greenbrier and
dusted the field with a 259 - no round higher than 66 - the press
was eager to play up the upcoming rematch at Colonial in May.
(And remember, this was coming right on the heels of Hogan’s
dramatic return following his near-fatal 1949 traffic accident.) How
well would Hogan defend his home turf, with Snead prowling the
grounds? How did Snead feel having Hogan steal his limelight at
Greenbriar?
Well, Snead answered all those questions pretty quickly. The
35-man field was duly impressive (Jimmy Demaret, Cary Middlecoff,
Henry Picard, Lloyd Mangrum, Toney Penna, Lawson Little, Byron
Nelson, defending champion Clayton Heafner, and many more), but
Snead was having none of it.
The smooth-swinging West Virginian promptly eagled the first
hole on the first day and led the tournament from start to finish. He
led Hogan by five shots after the first day, with his notable opening
66, and Hogan never got closer than that. Hogan eventually finished
tied for third. One
writer remarked
that the only
mistake Snead
made was missing
a belt loop one
day.
After the third round (another 66 for the leader), which was also Snead’s
th
38 birthday, tournament officials presented him with a large birthday cake on
the 18th green. Jimmy Demaret led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday.”
The next day, officials presented him with the brand new, five-foot-tall, shiny
Marvin Leonard Trophy. This marked that trophy’s first appearance at Colonial.
It had been manufactured for the 1949 tournament, which was cancelled by
that year’s disastrous city-wide flooding.
The tournament made history in 1950 by introducing the first scoreboard
system with telephone service from all 18 greens. Live television coverage made
its debut at Colonial this year as well, with local WBAP-TV broadcasting some
of the action to area homes on Saturday and Sunday.
Snead went on to win an incredible 10 tournaments that year, and took
Vardon Trophy honors, as well. But he never forgot the one he didn’t win that
year – not the Greenbriar - the U.S. Open. That was won by Hogan.

From the Tournament Office
with Michael Tothe, Director of Sales, Sponsor Relations
[email protected]
Only 8 months 10 days and 23 hours before the 2011 Crowne Plaza
Invitational at Colonial, that’s right it will be here before we know it. This
time of year, we are in full swing with our renewals from 2010. Over
the course of two to three months, we sit with each of our major sponsors
to understand their needs and understand how valuable our assets are to
accomplish their goals. Based on an
industry study conducted by IEG, LLC
(industry leader in sports sponsorships and
property evaluation) it is of the utmost
importance that properties, in our case
the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial,
understand the client’s goals, reasons for
participating at Colonial and gauge from
them their sponsorship intent for 2011.
As part of that strategy here are some
questions we ask during our renewal
phase. These questions are supported by the industry standard for sponsor
evaluation and activation.
1. Why do you use the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial?
The importance of knowing our client is vital when creating the right
package for the right customer. Here are some reasons why companies
support our event.
• Category Exclusivity
• On-site signage and branding
• Hospitality
• Business to Business relationships
• Access to Property Mailings and Databases from our fans
• Retail opportunities with our brand
What frustrates companies when being pitched on a
sponsorship is that events or properties do not understand
their business and that properties try to persuade sponsors
on template sponsorships before even listening to what
might be important to a potential sponsor. Keeping track
of the "why’s" as it relates to our partnerships is vital in
presenting options to sponsors and renewing. Sponsors
are starting to ask “what are you going to give me and
not what is this going to cost me?”
2. Has your ROI from the partnership increased,
decreased or stayed the same?
Some companies base their ROI on how many visits to their venue or how
local sales might have spiked the week following or during the event. Based
on industry trends, here is how companies globally answered this question.
• 50%. Increased. This is the best-case scenario for our event. Our
93% renewal rate for sponsors on an annual basis supports the notion
22

that creating packages specific to a company’s needs is very important
in this economy. THE DAY OF TEMPLATE SPONSORSHIPS IS
OVER! Adding value is very important.
• 23% do not know. They are not able to measure the increase or
decrease in their ROI or choose not to measure. Really what this
means is that sponsors enjoy the partnership,
like the relationship, and see no reason for
change.
•23% of companies feel their ROI stayed the
same. They use our event as a platform to
drive business and if they are able to retain
business and maintain the level of exposure
during the week of Colonial then companies
are generally satisfied with their investment.
•3% of companies feel their ROI decreased.
This is a small number but one that is certainly
concerning. In most situations, a company has over extended
themselves in a first year agreement and did not truly activate.
3. How will your sponsorship in 2011 compare to 2010? To understand as
soon as possible what their intentions are for 2011 is naturally very important
as one evaluates product and inventory before going to the market. Here
are some percentages based on a nationwide summary conducted by IEG.
• 50% of all sponsors will keep their investment the same in 2011. This
is fantastic as we look to continue to have global brands participate at
our event in 2011.
• 30% of all sponsors will increase. Our trend at Colonial is a 93%
renewal rate. With that 93% renewal rate, our corporate sponsors
increased their “spend” by
20% versus 2009. Again,
supporting the industry
trend.
• 21% decrease.
The
good news about this number
is that in 2009, according to
the survey, more than 40%
said they would decrease their
“spend.” So over all, 80%
will keep or spend more.
Therefore, overall the outlook as we renew and look to drive revenue
for the club through the tournament is very encouraging. What is even
more encouraging is that our corporate sponsors do feel the ROI is high
at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. They support a community
event and when planning where to spend their entertainment, branding,
marketing and sponsorship dollars in the DFW area, Colonial is a priority.
