A Refugee’s Journey of Survival and Hope
On display through December 12, 2010
See life through the eyes of a refugee through personal stories, moving
photographs and multimedia. Hear first-hand accounts of how refugees
survived war, violence and oppression with hopes for a better future for their
families. Ponder the trials of starting a life with nothing, in strange places and
foreign cities, and having to call this new place a home.

“Wing Luke exhibit pushes video’s
boundaries all over the place” –Seattle Times
In Cultural Transcendence, five Asian Pacific
Islander American artists exhibit works that
focus on a step forward from traditional to
new media: materials expanding beyond
their inherent meanings. Their conceptual
themes peer into history but do not dwell on
a negative past— inequality, discrimination
and alienation; instead they search the
present and envision a better tomorrow.
Cultural Transcendence explores the
importance of technology in our modern
experience and technology’s influence on
contemporary installation art.

On April 17th, 450 guests joined us to celebrate
Our Home Turns 100: Celebrating a Century of Stories,
the Wing’s annual auction & dinner!
A round of applause to our many auction sponsors, donors and guests
whose invaluable support and generosity raised over $315,000 towards
our groundbreaking exhibitions and programming of uniquely-American
stories of survival, success, struggle, conflict, compassion and hope;
our educational resources for teachers, classes and students; and our
after-school and summer youth programs.
