Tim the Music Man
6/16
Tim is a seasoned musician who toured
nationally as the bassist for mid-Michigan’s
19 Wheels from 1996 to 2005. He began
writing and recording music for and about
his two children after becoming a father in
2004. Tim performs at Lansing-area daycare

Mother Goose
Nancy Snell's fun, interactive programs
keep young children entertained and
engaged - while providing opportunities
for growth in pre-literacy skills through
rhyme and music.
Children interact with a professional
storyteller and participate in the magic
of costumes, music, and nursery rhymes.
With over 30 years of experience
teaching, raising, caring for, and playing
with young children, Nancy brings a
wealth of fun and creativity to her
programs. She understands that children delight in songs, rhymes, puppets,
and "dress up" - and incorporates all of
these elements into her "Mother Goose"
show.

Tunes & Tales with Tricia
Tricia was born into a family where music and storytelling
was a way of life. With 30 years of teaching experience in
early childhood classrooms and Gladys the Guitar by her
side, Tunes & Tales by Tricia seemed to be the next natural
choice. Her back- to -back degrees in child development
and early literacy prepared her well for the kind of future
that would lead her to train children, parents, and teachers
in music, movement , the connections to literacy. Her educational model is fully participatory, and it is immediately
noticeable when you witness a Tunes & Tales performance.
She does not perform FOR her audience as much as she
performs WITH them! Children and families are at once
engaged with her comfortable and interactive style from
the start.
In July 2010, Tricia released her first CD, “Hard Rock Candy Mountain”. By March of 2011,
it had won the DOVE AWARD and the CREATIVE CHILD AWARD OF EXCELLENCE. The next CD
was released in May of 2012 and was titled UKE ARE ALL MY FRIENDS! featuring many of
Tricia’s closest friends and family, as well as her new friend “Luke the Uke”.

Janice Marsh
7/14
Did you know that every plant has a
special vibration? We can take that special
vibration and turn it into music! In other
words, we can now hear plants sing.
Janice Marsh, Earth Mother will be
bringing her songs, stories and her
Music of the Plants machine to Hastings.
What songs do you think we will be
hearing today?
Small Sounds
“Music should be active, fun and imaginative.”
7/21
“The idea for Small Sounds started while I
was teaching classes at The Looking Glass
Preschool. I introduced Mr. Djembe (my
African drum) to the kids one day. They had
to ‘wake up’ the djembe before we could
begin. Before long I was beating on the drum
while they danced wildly around the room in
rhythm. Seeing how much fun they were
having I started to bring in my guitar and
other instruments.”
The concept for Small Sounds was
hatched; classes that were more than music
theory, or rigid instruction. Music, movement
and imagination became the motto. I wanted
to create an experience where kids could be
social, learn basic music principles all while
having fun, moving around and getting to
play hands-on with instruments and most of
all using their imagination!

Deep Fried Pickle Project
crude pirate scientist chef using a combination
of spirits and pickle juice. As the DFPP
awoke from their icy slumber they started
singing and have never stopped. Where the
Pickles came from and where they are going
remains a mystery.
From the great Depression to the Great
Recession, the Pickles run the gamut of old
timey styles, even grabbing an occasional
80’s pop tune and turning it into a flap
happy chicken scratchy 78 RPM tune.
Armed with a Frankenststonian array of
homemade monster instruments, their musical
recipe is flavored with Jug Band, Hokum and
Honkeytonk spices.
In 2002 a mysterious green iceberg was
discovered by a band of unemployed
pirates in Lake Michigan. Frozen inside were
the Pickle Boys, cold solid in a chunk of sour
brine. The DFPP were hoisted aboard,
chiseled free and re-animated by the ships

Red Tail Ring
Red Tail Ring is the musical brainchild
of two old-time-minded Michiganders –
Michael Beauchamp and Laurel Premo.
The collaboration blends the loving
attention of revivalist fervor with the
playful creativity of starting from
scratch. Whether rendering a traditional tune or one of their many original
compositions, the duo infuses each
song with musical imagination, haunting
harmonies and instrumental artistry on
fiddle, banjo, mandolin, jawharp, and
plain-old foot stomping.
“We love pushing the boundaries of
what a traditional song can be,” says
Beauchamp. “There’s a real energy
exchange between the old and the
new.”
